Look at that beautiful Cuban sandwich just oozing goodness.

We spotted this unassuming little place a couple of weeks ago and remembered it today. So glad we did. You walk in and some of the food is displayed to your left. Guava and Cheese pastries, chicken empanadas and beef empanadas. They also have a cheese bread. We just wanted a Cuban sandwich. We asked if they had them and were told yes. There is limited English spoken(a good sign) and we managed just fine. Pan American Bakery has seating for about 8 people. We saw that it was largely a togo place. Our sandwich was ready and it was huge and a beauty. It was perfectly toasted and the amount of meat and cheese on it is unheard of in these days. The cheese oozed out and it was tasty. There are so many Cuban sandwiches around that the bread comes out soggy and has the same ingredients. I can't figure that one out. Just know I can't stand wet, soggy bread. Pan American Bakery is a tidy little place with very friendly staff(I think the owners). Can't wait to return. But will definitely bring more cash next time. I wanted to try a bit of everything I saw but that will have to wait until I arrive with cash. Highly recommend. But please be patient if there is a line. Remember it is basically a Mom and Pop establishment. Price are very reasonable $9 for a huge Cuban sandwich and the Empanadas both sweet and savory are only $1.50. PS. We never found a menu....just ask.

This place makes the bread that's used at some other local sandwich shops, but they also offer their own sandwiches and pastries! Their Cuban did not disappoint! It was comprable to one I tried at Sanguich in Miami. The man running the place is really nice too. Heads up it's a cash only establishment!

I've been on a Cuban kick recently and found Pan American Bakery on Yelp. We stopped in for a late lunch/snack and found Pan American Bakery to satisfy every craving. Pan American Bakery seems to be under-appreciated and forgotten but I loved it! It's a tiny family owned shop with what looks like has regular customers. FYI: cash only. We got here late afternoon but it was still pretty busy. We ordered with our eyes and over-ordered. There's not a formal menu - it's whatever you see on display, as well as Cuban sandwiches or coffee. We ordered guava and cheese pastels (filled pastries), a Cuban sandwich to share, as well as a meat patty and a cafe con leche. Everything was fresh and tasty. The Cuban was not as fancy as the other ones I've tried in Atlanta, but tasted homey and hit the spot. Nothing to really complain about here. Pan American Bakery is a hidden gem that I definitely need to add to my Buford Highway repertoire!

The food and pastries at Pan American Bakery are absolutely delicious! The service from the older gentleman, who I believe to be the owner, was amazing. He was very kind. We started off with a Cuban sandwich - Pork, Ham, Cheese, Mustard, and Pickles on homemade bread, which was absolutely delicious and it had an amazing crunch in each bite! I wish I had taken a picture before I devoured it, but all that was left was crumbs. After the sandwich, we ordered two "Guava and Cheese pastelitos" which were also delicious! We ended up ordering more pastries To-Go! This is the perfect spot for breakfast/brunch!

Had heard they do great Cuban sandwiches here, and they did not disappoint. I've tried other Cubans around Atlanta, and this one is definitely in the top tier. Yes, they only accept cash, but for what you get in exchange (and you can get a sandwich, chips, and a soda for less than $10), I'd say it's well worth it.

I absolutely loved my visit here! The owner was very friendly and had great customer service. I literally felt like I was in a different type of town. I ordered a panini to go as I was in a rush to make it to class. He asked how I heard about his establishment (yelp) and was I eating it there (nope). I wish I could have. I posted pics of the extra yumminess of this sandwich. The sandwich was great (only $5) and I'll definitely be returning. He did forget to add my jalapeños, but maybe I didn't need them? :) I'll be sure to get them next time tho. Thanks and see you soon!

What a find. Fresh loaves for $2.25??!! Wow. Small little place with wonderful customer service, solid food and excellent prices. CASH ONLY. Make the trip to the ATM and tip well. They work hard! Met Lucy and Javier. Didn't see a menu but knew I wanted a Cuban. Solid! Also took home a guava pastelito , a chicken and a beef empanadas and a right out of the oven loaf which was heavenly. Soft inside, crispy out. All of this for under $13!!! Will definitely return.

We didn't really need it since the restaurant was pretty empty, but we were a bigger group and didn't want to risk it. The hostess didn't confirm our reservation until about 10 mins prior, which was quite concerning, but everything worked out at the end anyway. Our server was wonderful! It was our first time here and he explained their background and what his favorites were on the menu. We for sure wanted to try the paella, so went ahead and ordered that first, with the carretillero ceviche, mixed empanadas (chicken and beef) and patatas bravos to start. The ceviche was delicious and fresh. Loved the fried calamari and all the toppings it was served with. The empanadas were also delicious and was served with a very spicy sauce! The patatas braves had a nice, smoky flavor. Now for entree, I ordered the veggie chaufa. Our server may have been a little biased as he preferred the Peruvian side of the menu, more so than the Cuban side. My dish was easily good for 2-3 people. It had tons of veggies and scrambled egg, plus served with a side of fried plantains. Our group ordered a bunch of other dishes and tried some of them. The churrasco steak was a little chewy but loved the chimichurri it was served with. The parrillada de mariscos was so good too, and my personal fave was the grilled octopus! Personally, I would opt for this instead of the valenciana paella. You essentially get the same types of seafood. I love that we got to dine at this hidden gem! We truly enjoyed our experience and will be back for sure.

Atlanta is so blessed to have a restaurant like this in its ranks now. If I could give more than 5…read morestars on this app, I'd be lighting it up! I went on a holiday, which was super busy, but even so, service was prompt and attentive. I ordered a pasaflora to drink, which had a beautiful flower in it, queso blanco with chips, al pastor mushroom tacos, chochoyotes, and flan for dessert. Every single dish was inspired, layered with flavor, creative, and truly unique. The presentation was also lovely and each bite felt thoughtful and well-executed. I would order everything a million times over! One thing that especially stood out was the flan's texture, which was silky, delicate, and perfectly balanced. I was also pleasantly surprised to see fried green tomatoes on the menu. It felt like such a special nod to the restaurant's Southern location, blending regional influence in a really cool way. The owner was super nice, which made the experience even better. The decor is gorgeous and so inviting, with intimate, cozy lighting. The whole space feels clean, artistic, and thoughtfully designed. This is an amazing date-night spot that I truly hope sticks around for a long, loooong time. Everything about the atmosphere and experience makes it perfect for a special evening out. I'm already planning to go back and explore more of the menu, but based on my first visit alone, I might even dare to say this is the best vegan restaurant in Atlanta. The jury's still out, but I'm more than happy to keep doing the research to confirm!! lol Last thing I'll say is that I was so grateful not to have to wade through a bunch of non-vegan menu options to figure I it what I could actually order. I also don't have to wonder if my food was being cooked next to a slab of dead animal, which is not the case most places I go. So, thank you for being ALL vegan. The food is so good that there is no chance a non-vegan will feel they've missed out on meat anyway. Logistical stuff: I saw a little bit of street parking, but not a ton. Parking in the deck is definitely the easiest option. You could theoretically bike/skate the Beltline and just walk a couple of blocks to get there. The space is on the smaller side, so I'd recommend making a reservation to be safe if you're visiting on a Friday/Saturday night.

I adore sitting on the patio and soaking in the neighborhood's vibrancy. Watching the e-bikes whiz by with kids on the back and teenagers loitering the mini-market gives the whole scene a modern Norman Rockwell feel. The margs are cheap, the food is a great value, and everything always comes out quickly. The service is attentive, too--you'll have multiple people checking in to ensure you're happy. As a regular, I've tried most of the menu. One of the 'secret' standout items is the salmon salad (insider knowledge passed down to me!). The quesadilla is my other go-to, though I do wish they'd finally start cutting the darn thing into triangles! Bottom line: this is a place to just hang and relax. Don't expect anything over-the-top; it's simply a very comforting, reliable neighborhood staple.

I could have happily ordered a full bowl as my main dish and left completely satisfied. For my entrée, I went with the Original Paella. Overall, it was very enjoyable and nicely seasoned. The flavors were there, and it was definitely pleasing to eat. I will say, I was expecting a bit more protein. Everything tasted good, but a slightly more generous portion of protein would have taken it to the next level for me. I'd give the paella an 8/10. We also tried the Enchiladas de Pollo. The flavor was definitely there -- the seasoning and filling were enjoyable -- but the tortillas didn't seem as fresh as I'd hoped. Because of that, the enchiladas lost some of their structure and would fall apart before you could really get a solid bite with your fork. It didn't ruin the dish, but it did take away a bit from the overall experience. The atmosphere was really nice. They offer seating on the first floor (inside and outside), plus a second-floor outdoor option. If you're worried about being cold upstairs, don't be -- they have ceiling heaters, which is a thoughtful touch. We went during lunch, so it wasn't too busy, and it felt relaxed. I can only imagine how charming it must feel at night with the city views -- I'd definitely love to come back in the evening to experience that. The food came out quickly, which is always appreciated, and parking wasn't too bad to find. I could see it being a little more challenging during peak hours, but for us, it worked out well. Overall, I'd give this place a 4.2/5. I'd absolutely return -- especially for that chicken soup -- and I'm excited to explore more of the menu next time.
