Specialties
I specialize in Myofascial Release and Deep Tissue Massage as well as Reflexology, Sports Massage, Medical Massage, Aromatherapy & Cranio Sacral Therapy, and I am certified (and have a lot of experience) in Prenatal Massage. I enjoy incorporating essential oils in my work and often utilize some gentle energy work and sometimes even sports taping to deepen the effects of the massage.
I enjoy doing structural evaluations of the client and using sports massage techniques for those who are athletes or have suffered from repetitive strain ex-from working at a keyboard for long hours or having to work on your feet for long periods and injuring your ankle or knees.
I also pay attention to the Chinese Meridians in clients' bodies as I work, and like to explain any patterns of tension/stagnation I may find, either in clinical or energetic terms.
I emphasize speaking with clients before and after the massage to help them to understand my observations of their muscles and holding patterns, and of my game plan to help them re encounter their own inner equilibrium, so that pain and imbalances may be diffused and potentially eliminated.
Please feel free to write me or call me with any questions! I would be happy to help.
History
Established in 2011.
I began to massage when I was 12 years old after meeting a man who had studied massage under a healer in Mexico. From then on I was enthralled by the healing powers I have encountered on rare occasions by those who are knowledgeable not only of anatomy, but who seem to enter the mind and pains of the person they are healing, so that the person suffering feels as if their healer is there experiencing and understanding their feelings with them.
It is through this empathy that the healer may begin to understand their clients' needs, and begin to offer the help that they have been seeking.
I received my degree in Massage Therapy from the Eastern based Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, and acquired my certification in Pre and Post Natal Massage in 2013. I have worked with renowned holistic doctors, chiropractors, and at 5 star hotels and spas throughout New York City, and have incorporated the strengths of the varying perspectives of the human body which I have encountered.
Meet the Business Owner: Pamela P.
I have been working to look at the human body through many different concepts, such as through palpating and energetically attuning to Chinese Meridians and Chakras, from muscular (and connective tissue) levels, to understand how chronic conditions may effects one's muscular holding patterns, as well as how current stresses in one's life and environment may contribute to physical injuries or strains.
I have found that all variables in one's life effect the pain levels which are endured and held within muscles, and that these issues, if not addressed may lead to physical inflexibility or rigidity and a lack of circulation.
In my massage therapy work, I make efforts to understand the timeline of my clients' bodies, and to work through it to uncover the root cause/s of whatever restrictions they are currently experiencing, so that they can leave the massage room with a new feeling of freedom.
