My Tahoe broke down south of Ocala (approx 90 degrees outside) on I 75, Friday afternoon at 3:00. I was freaking out as I had my 2 Golden retrievers with me. Long story short, my AAA tow truck driver recommended PALS. I looked them up on yelp and was worried as their reviews weren't great. As soon as we got there, they let my dogs into their air conditioned lobby. My car was fixed by 11:00 the next morning. They recommended a pet friendly hotel, were in contact with me about the repairs, and were just overall super friendly and professional. It turned out to be the fuel pump which is the 2nd time this has happened. This came with a 3 year warranty.They found 1 at a dealership and had me up and running. I highly recommend. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at PALS Auto was frustrating and expensive. I brought my car in for a check engine light. I was given a diagnosis and was told it would be done by lunchtime -- I waited until closing, only to find out my now non-starting car wouldn't be ready until tomorrow. (This was supposed to be a 2.5hr repair) I was then told it needed a part on backorder (4-6 weeks). I found the part myself in minutes with two phone calls. Communication was terrible, and when I decided to take my car elsewhere, I was charged over $2,000 -- they even tried to charge me for the part they hadn't even installed, stating it was non refundable. I had to fight to get my non-working car back. I towed it to the dealership, who fixed the extra issue, created by PALS, in 10 minutes and sent me a video to prove it. I'm now out thousands for incorrect repairs, delays, and poor service. Avoid this place. read more

Went there for a rattle. Turns out, trans mount. Got the estimate. Parts were over charged. Labor time was over estimated. Was told either pay the diagnostic fee ($155) or take the deal. So I had them do the work. I sat there and timed them. Took one hour. They charged me for two. Plus they want you to pay cash (to avoid them paying IRS for income) or get charged a percent for credit card payment. read more

Had the 2007 Jaguar XK at Pals today. 1st Some times this car has electrical issues. This time the driver's seat was stuck flat all the way forward and the seat adjustment would not work. Pals has the software necessary to reprogram the seat module. Took them less than 30 minutes to fix this! Only charged me 1/2 hour rate. I'm so relieved. Great folks. Good to work with. DO NOT USE THESE SCAM ARTIST, RUN AWAY NOW! I apologize if this gets lengthy in advance but the way I was treated and they way they made me feel was completely unacceptable. I am someone who is educated and very respectful. I was looking for a good mechanic around the Ocala area. I stumbled upon these guys and saw some reviews to be positive and others to accuse them of overcharging but I know sometimes people blow it out proportion. Figured I'd give them a try (Terrible mistake) So, I decided to bring in my Infiniti G37 due to a water pump failure (I already knew the problem) and advised them. On their website, they have a few promotions in which I choose for them to check my AC for FREE. Luckily, I bought warranty when I got the car so I knew it my issue was covered. Sherry, advised they are honest "Christians" and gassed me up on their business stating they are the best in town. I felt in good hands. I spoke to the head mechanic, Chuck, regarding the water pump failure. I told him what was wrong with the car and what needed to be fixed. He guaranteed me they will get the job done. I said I had warranty that will be covering the expenses and Immediately noticed a change in tone of voice stating "here we go again" as in he had experience in the past with these warranty companies. Now I know, warranty companies aren't all that fun to deal with but I assured him that I got a good warranty and covers what I stated above. Additionally, I stated that the worse case scenario is that the warranty company would ship them their own water pump and he completely disowned the conversation by saying "I WON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM, I MAKE A LIVING CHARGING MULTIPLE TIMES WHAT THE PIECE COST" In a rather rude way. This made me think twice about doing business with them as he stormed away from the office. Instinctively, I knew that was a huge red flag but decided anyway to try them because of how I was sold by sherry and their "honest" approach to business. A day later, I received a call from chuck, in an aggressive voice stating that the warranty company would only cover about half of the total bill (Total bill was near 3k) and that I would have to pay the rest out of pocket. I advise him in calm manner that I cannot do as such because my warranty company should cover it all. He immediately yelled over the phone "FINE THEN PAY YOUR DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND GET OUT OF HERE" (almost $200 for a diagnostic fee?) I called my warranty company and they advise the prices they are charging are absurdly high and grotesque. So I proceeded to the office. I try to speak to Chuck in regards to cutting me some slack about this "diagnostic fee" when I had already identified the problem AND told them. He profusely said "ABSOLUTELY NOT, NO WAY". I stated that I had already mentioned the issue beforehand and he justified it by spending "hours" searching for the piece (Its literally just one piece). I advise that's not true but he refused and said "I DON'T FEEL BAD ABOUT IT, NOT ONE BIT. PAY AND LEAVE". He continued by insulting me asking how much money I made which is not of his business. He then stated how his workers make well over $40 (good for them) and how I was making a terrible decision by leaving them. (Seemed to be upset I was taking my business elsewhere) (He kept storming off the room multiple times throwing a tantrum fit every time) I was calm and asked for the bill to review it further and again both sherry and chuck in a rude way yelled "OH DON'T YOU WORRY, YOU'RE GETTING IT BUDDY). I paid my fee and left this atrocity of a business. (Thank god) Upon reviewing the bill in detail in a peaceful environment, It has come to my attention that they were trying to Nickle and dime for EVERYTHING! The "FREE" A/C check was on the bill ($300), a synthetic oil change (never asked for that), & multiple pieces that don't make sense. Also "Shop supply fee" of $80, high taxes for pieces not needed, & etc. SCAM ARTIST! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! A shame you guys hide behind "Christianity" when profits is all you care about! Almost immediately after having an oil change on 8/4/2022, I noticed the oil light going on randomly sometimes while I was using the car. We don't really go all that far very often because our groceries are delivered and I only live 2 miles (backroads) from work, so it slipped my mind. Yesterday I had to go to Orlando and back, so it was on my mind this morning; I just tried calling to ask about the situation, and when I asked about the cost, I was told about $150 for diagnostics. I said, "even though it started immediately after the oil change." Wow. Instant attitude and anger from "Chuck" on the phone. "Well why didn't you bring it in immediately? You're talking MONTHS..." He wouldn't let me even try to explain why I didn't - he was too busy yelling at me. I would have told him I have a video on my phone, dated from the first time I noticed it, but I'm not so sure he cared. It felt more important to me that he have the chance to talk - no, yell - down to me and not listen to me, but instead tell me about how stupid I am. Oh, by the way? That oil change involved two trips in to them...because the first day I dropped my car off, they "never had a chance to get to it." No thanks. I'll head back to a dealer. I've similar comments from coworkers - in part because we can walk from PALS to work. I'd rather pay for an Uber or get a coworker to pick me up, thank you very much. Moral of the story? In March 2020 my car broke down on I-75 and the tow company recommended Pals. I had to have my alternator and battery replaced which came out to almost $900. This week my car wouldn't start and after trying to jump it, I took it in to a Firestone auto care. They found that my alternator was not giving the battery enough charge and needed to be replaced - less than 2 years after Pal's had done the same thing. I called Pal's to ask about the warranty and Chuck VERY rudely cut me off as soon as I mentioned that I was having problems related to the work they had done - with some random ignorant comment about how "some doctors make A's and some make C's" and would not let me get a full sentence out, saying that he would have to look at it himself. I live 50 minutes from Pal's and as my car doesn't have a working alternator, I can't drive there and refuse to pay for a tow there when I now don't trust their service. I ended up working with their warranty service TechNet, who were extremely helpful and were able to pay for the entire replacement, since Pal's charged much more than Firestone. Because of this, I cannot recommend Pal's less, because of their work obviously not standing the test of time AND their incredibly rude owner Chuck who talked down to me when I was simply asking a question. read more

STAY AWAY. Came from Daytona beach (80 miles from there) 99$ brake special after speaking on the phone about the vehicle, to verify the special and my appointment. Says just to come by. Get there first words out of there mouth is brake special doesn't apply. As my car can only take ceramic brakes. You would think it would be an up charge of the cost difference, but no. New price is almost 350$ ( brake pads only. OVER TRIPLE their advertised special). Walk next door to auto-zone, they tell me my car can use organic brake pads at under 20$ a set. Or ceramic for only 50$ a set. There special is nothing but a scam. Save your time and money and Take your business elsewhere. read more

My 20 yr old son took his F-150 in for ac repair. They did the repair for @$1100 with a guarantee. They purposely left things unplugged so his air only worked for about 10 miles. They would not stand behind their work and wanted to charge another $1000 to repair their mistakes. Took it to another shop, they plugged sensor in for free. It works fine now. read more

Do Not go to this business. My son has an older Ford F-150 that A/C wasn't working. He took it in to them to look at. They charged him $185 just to evaluate it, but told him that price would come off of his total if he had the work done there. He worked and saved up the money to have the work done--$1100. When we took it in to have the repairs done, they then gave us another $1200 quote on additional work that needed to be done...coil packs and plugs. He told them that he could not afford to have that additional work done at this time, but to go ahead and replace the original parts. We picked the truck up the next day and the A/C worked for about an hour. We called PALS to let them know. We were told that because we didn't replace the coil packs and plugs that was the reason for the air not working. This is under warranty, by the way. We had someone else take a look at it, and one of the tubes that PALS replaced was leaking. I believe this was done on purpose, and they knew it was broken again before it left their shop. They are crooks, thieves, and money hungry jerks that are willing to steal money from a hard working kid. There is a freon leak on the parts they replaced. It is not from us not replacing the additional parts. We are taking it to another shop in their network to see if they will repair what PALS screwed up. They don't own up to their mistakes and hung up on my husband when he called about it. BAD BUSINESS!!!! If you want to fork over lots of cash, because they charge another 3.5% if you pay with a card, then that is the place for you to go. If not, PLEASE take your business elsewhere. read more

We were quoted a price of $613 for repairs to our 2013 VW CC. I asked them to do an oil change in addition to the repairs. They sent me a text when the car was done, and the cash price was $753.34. If I paid with a credit card (VISA), the price would be $779.71. A very pricey oil change indeed. After Chuck ran my card, I noticed he ran it for $910.18. I asked for an explanation, and was told his wife failed to charge for two hours of labor, but he was not charging for the oil change. There was no reasoning with that man. I will dispute the charges with my credit card company. I would recommend anyone considering doing business with this company to steer clear. read more

Took an 14 Audi A8 for a starter replacement. Agreed on an expensive 1560$ work. After they replaced it they realized it also needed a battery interrupter so they go ahead and order it from Audi for 400$ Without even contacting me first!!!!!! Fine, I come pick up my car. Shelly tells me you can have an old part that was replaced, then comes in Chuck and says No you actually can't have it as it's a core part. Ok I finally pick up my car, leave the place and on my way home I realize they Never secured my lower engine splash shield to a point where I almost lost it on the highway. I share only positive reviews but this review is a first for me in my effort to protect the safety of other drivers. My vehicle broke down on the interstate and Pal's charged me almost $1700 for all new brakes claiming they installed factory parts, as told on site by Chuck Perry. Two days and 400 miles later while en route travelling to the northeast, my vehicle broke down (again) during rush hour on the interstate as I prayed for my life to get out of immediate danger. My vehicle was shaking nearly out of control because the brakes locked up, not driveable and was towed to a dealership. When I immediately called Pal's to inform them of my breakdown in a state of shock, Chuck Perry got defensive and demanded I find another TechNet warranty shop. I refused to go to another warranty shop, as this was my third unacceptable TechNet warranty shop experience in less than a month for my brakes (the first warranty shop told me my brakes had 50% life remaining, the second installed only new pads and the third was Pal's nightmare). The dealership confirmed that Pal's installed after market parts that do not belong on my vehicle. I also confirmed the same with a second dealership. When I contacted Chuck from the dealership with the Service Advisor with me on the call, Chuck lied twice insisting that Pal's installed factory parts. Chuck sounded arrogant and hung up so I called back. Chuck hung up on me again and blocked my calls. My front brake job had to be completely redone for over $1600 at the dealership. I received an email reply from the owner of Pal's, Patrick Dolder, in which he did not make honorable restitution, only suggesting I find yet another TechNet warranty shop. Pal's is quick and dirty to get stranded travelers back on the road by bait and switch, lies and deceit. The number of recent negative reviews on Facebook, Yelp and other sites (except for Pal's personal website as I suspect they only accept rave reviews) provide further testament as to why PAL'S SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN YESTERDAY. Had work perform on my last trip to Florida after an unexpected breakdown on I95. Was very please with my treatment, so when a "service light"appeared I check in with my local Maryland auto mechanic. Turned out the problem would be covered under my warranty from work performed by Pal's ... could have had it done locally but back I came to Ocala. I contacted this place to get a rough quote on an oil change for my vehicle via email. I then got a call asking for engine size, which was not an issue. A week went by and my appointment date was getting closer and I had not yet received a quote of any kind. Upon calling, I spoke to a gentleman who said "we don't offer quotes over the phone" so I told them to cancel the appointment. Upon telling them that he said "ok give me 5 minutes and I'll call back" to which they never did and so I never showed up for the appointment. Even more surprising is that they never called me to see if I was still showing up or anything. Clearly business must be so strong that they can neglect their customers on the phone and e-mail. Just like most of these ocala based businesses, calling back, or showing up is something they can't seem to do. (That would be them in that we had never taken it anywhere else to have the AC checked) I paid for an estimate. The estimate to repair it was $3,030.71. I was visiting in Ocala and my car was towed to Pals auto repair who diagnosed with a bad fuel pump. They replaced it and provided a warrantee on their work through a national company. I drove my car back to Sarasota and tried to refuel which only allowed me to fill 4 gallons before it cut off. I called Chuck to give him the courtesy of knowing the problem I encountered. Chuck immediately became defensive and started to defend his work and told me he had Bob who was an ASE technician do the work, however the paperwork stated someone else did the work and he said oh no Bob did it, I just didn't change the name on the repair (so I wonder about their attention to detail) I brought my car to a repair shop that works with their Warrantee company who found a defective fuel pump, but also there was an additional issue with another part which the warrantee company said we only cover the cost of the part that was defective, so I called Chuck back and informed him of the issue and he told me to drive it back to Ocala because he could do the work for pennies on the dollar I was to be charged. I told him I couldn't get gas in the car to get back to him. The end result was the additional problem was eventually covered albeit it took an additional week to resolve, so I was without a car for an additional 7 days. The national warrantee only covers up to two days of rental. If you decide to use Pals you will need persistence if there is a problem read more
