Rice (fluffy) and Beans (well seasoned) both were really delicious. Service~Pearlina was super sweet, knew the menu very well and, had exceptional service. She made sure we had everything we needed and, continue to check on us throughout our meal. Ambiance~It's has a very calming vibe and atmosphere. I love the fact they have a privacy strip on the windows (so no one walking by watches you eat). It's a family owned restaurant and, I would recommend giving them a try. I feel what we ordered was worth it but, everything (except water) has a charge. Only street parking and, lots of indoor/outdoor seating.

Both the fish and the prawns were cooked in a red sauce that was delicious! I meant to ask for blue corn tortillas but was so excited to find shrimp & fish tacos that weren't deep-fried that I forgot to ask for them. The regular corn tortillas were excellent, though, so it was not a bad mistake to make. I also had jamaica to drink and let me tell you... it was not made from a mix! It was dark, thirst-quenching, and perfectly made. Most jamaica is super sweet - this was not! I love the flavor of real hibiscus and this did not disappoint. My friends had chile relleno bowls and birria tacos, all of which was excellent. Their watermelon margaritas were tasty and refreshing! Our orders were taken by a helpful person at the cash register and the food was served quickly by a friendly server. The inside and outside areas were clean and tidy, with plenty of seating available at the outside tables. The outdoor seating area is under cover making it a good choice for both summer & winter dining. Definitely going on my "have to go back and try something else" list!

I love that they offer a vegetarian option for the tasting menu and I expect no less from Portland. Every dish seemed like it was designed with so much care and is meant to elevate traditional ingredients without being too pretentious. I still remember the tetela and huarache...and also the arroz and frijole and so much more. My partner had his favorites as well. My only critique is I wish dessert (flan) was lighter but it could just have been us since we don't typically eat/enjoy flan. However I do like that it's not so sweet. Space-wise the restaurant is large and beautifully moody with light coming in from the windows during the morning. We were the only ones dining at 10am and it got busier around 11am. Service is top-notch as well and the staff and owner know what they're doing

We decided to do the $45 lunch deal where we let them feed us and basically got a 10 course lunch (totally worth it)! Since we tried so many things, some courses were a miss and some were a big hit. It was really fun! Some of my favorites were the arroz con frijoles, yes the rice and beans! They are so flavorful and served with house made tortillas. I think my favorite thing was the tostada topped with white beans, cabbage, and roasted corn - insane! I also loved the Huarache with adobo squash and I'm not normally into smokey things, but everything just worked together. I wasn't the biggest fan of one of the moles we were served, but there was a sweeter one that was paired with eggplant that I couldn't stop eating. We ended the meal with 2 desserts and 1 came with a candle for our friend, which is always such a lovely gesture. The fried concha was incredible!! GET IT! Ours had ground cherries and a lime whipped cream and I would come back just for that. This is definitely a spot that's worth the tasting menu! There are so many flavors to explore you will want to try everything!

Inside is my favorite spot - the light is good, everything is nice, and it stays cooler in the hot months (won't everything be the hot months soon?). My friend loves eating outside - those adjustable, wall-mounted tables are great. I have only had four items from their menu: the bean torta (the first thing I bought and took to eat with a friend - so long ago I remember nothing!), the tostada (nothing that stands out, but definitely fresh), the burger (I got it without ham and it blew my mind!), and the Cart Bowl. Reader, there is something about that bowl that makes it almost impossible to order something else. I did those two times, but once I had tasted the Cart Bowl with their chicken and avocado, it was game over. For a while (3 years?), I came here with a friend every Thursday evening. Every Thursday I had the bowl. I never got tired of it. The way they cook their meat, the flavors of all the ingredients when combined, always tastes perfect. I have had their margaritas. They are really delicious!! They also have bottle and tap beer options. I usually come during the day, so try to resist the margarita (margarita = mid-day nap time), but I look at other people's longingly. It is first come, first seated. We asked for the bean dip, but we found out when we received our bill that it's not complimentary anymore. Bummer. It was good, but not worth the extra $5. They were extremely generous with their chips and salsa, so in the end we were okay paying the extra $5. We ordered the chicken quesadilla and charbroiled burger. Both were great! Fresh ingredients. The quesadilla wasn't greasy at all. Neither were the chips! Our server recommended the pollo asada for my quesadilla and it was much appreciated.
