After a long hike that left my legs completely shot, I found myself cruising the back roads of Vermont when I spotted a small crowd gathered outside a charming little roadside stand. Curiosity won, and I pulled over--turns out, it wasn't your typical ice cream shop. Around here, they call it a creemee--a local twist I quickly picked up on as I listened to the locals eagerly waiting for their names to be called along with their favorite flavors. Naturally, I had to go with the maple creemee. I mean, when in Vermont, how can you not try something maple? One bite in, and I was sold. It's not quite like traditional soft-serve--the texture is smoother, silkier on the tongue, and the maple flavor was rich without being overly sweet. I also couldn't resist grabbing a maple soda and some maple candy while I was at it. (Hey, don't judge--did I mention how long that hike was?) I only wish I had the stomach to try more flavors; judging by the one I had, I can only imagine how delicious the rest must be. If you find yourself wandering the back roads of Vermont, keep your eyes peeled for a creemee stand--you're in for a real treat.

A local friend insisted we visit Palmer Lane Maple, and now we know why! From the moment we pulled in, we could tell this place is a local treasure. There was a long line when we arrived, but it moved surprisingly fast thanks to the friendly, efficient staff who clearly take pride in their work. Everyone greeted customers with genuine smiles, making the wait part of the fun. I ordered the Real Maple Twist Black Raspberry (large in a cup), and it was simply outstanding - creamy, smooth, and bursting with flavor, with the maple perfectly complementing the tart sweetness of the black raspberry. My wife went for the Maple Ice Cream in a cone with sprinkles, and she couldn't stop raving about how rich and authentic the maple flavor was. You can tell they use high-quality, fresh ingredients that truly set them apart. The ambiance is pure Vermont charm - a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating and standing space. Whether you're sitting under the sun, tree or chatting with other visitors, it feels like a community gathering spot. It's easy to see why Palmer Lane Maple is award-winning - their pure Vermont maple syrup and ice cream flavors are on another level. Excellent service, incredible flavors, and a setting that makes you slow down and savor every bite. We'll definitely be back.

A friend of a friend had me follow her in a car through winding roads to Palmer Lane. This was a cute little town with a cute store-operating out of a house. You know the place is good when people are lining up or waiting outside a place for food. They were offering ice cream but I put that on hold and stepped inside for my maple needs. Collette was so great in helping me decided what syrup grade to purchase by letting me do a tasting. I really liked the Amber grade but I went with the Dark grade to which she added that's the one most non-Vermonters go with as it "looks" like their maple syrup at home. I ended up getting dog biscuits, popcorn, beef jerky, smoked syrup, lip balm, maple candies for my co-workers, and of course, a jug of maple syrup, dark. We then ordered our creemees. I got a swirl of maple and coffee with maple sprinkles and picked it up at the window outside. It was pretty impressive-tasting and I wish we had these back home. So good.
