Store manager CJ provides the best customer service! He's ALWAYS been top notch at customer service, but he's been shortstaffed the last few weeks and literally runs his butt off checking in customers, cleaning and stocking beds and spray booths, all with a smile and sparkling upbeat personality! Last night I got there for my weekly spray tan about 5:30, and being a Friday night, the waiting area had about 10 women all wanting tans for the Memorial Day weekend. CJ and his colleague got everyone checked in and on their way. Severe thunderstorms were rolling in, and CJ even offered to escort a lady to her car with his umbrella so she wouldn't lose her new spray tan! I can't say enough good things about CJ. Kenzie is great and I highly recommend her as an employee. She is very helpful and professional. I would recommend you be very careful of the contract you sign as there are a lot of fees and if/ands/buts... I work with contracts at work and this one is quite the nickel and dime type. For example even with a discount of $10 waived fee my $24.95 per month was $38... it's fine just be careful what you sign before you do it. Today (February 10th), Heather helped me pick a new tanning lotion and it worked wonders! She was super helpful and even asked for my feedback on how I enjoyed the product! I recommend getting the Sahara Jewel tanning lotion! It improves your tan A LOT by giving you that nice bronze look along with using the Sun Angel! I use the Sun Angel every time and I LOVE IT! You want to have that gorgeous bronze tan look like as if you've been sitting on the beach for a week without the burn, go here, get the tanning lotion above and get your pale butt into the Sun Angel! 100% the best! What horrific customer service. After waiting for about 10 minutes before being greeted when I walked in, I was told my spray tans had expired and there was nothing they could do to help me. I spent money to purchase two spray tans during a promotion in July, and came in today to redeem my first one (I'd been saving it up for the perfect occasion!) They told me BOTH had expired a few days ago, and that there was nothing at all they were going to do about it.... When I purchased them, nobody communicated that they would expire, and now I am being penalized for it. Just $$ straight into their pockets when they have the infrastructure to give me at least one of the tans. They up-sold me on the tans too, which is just the most annoying and super text book tanning salon pitfall too. She said that if it was a few days sooner maybe they could have helped me... which tells me they could have been flexible but just chose not to. Super ridiculous and lame. Was very underwhelmed with their problem solving abilities and willingness to work with their customers. Definitely will never be back to this establishment. read more

A lady who looked a lot like a California Raisin came out of here one day, and I'm pretty sure Palm Beach Tan can give a person cancer. However, it won't give you cancer or turn you into a raisin any worse than other tanning salons, so I will review it in comparison to its peers. Great hours--6am-11pm on weekdays! Convenience--The location offers plenty of parking and it's very close to HEB, Randalls, and 24-Hour Fitness, so you can just drop in for 15 min while you're running errands. Goggles are provided here, too, so you don't have to worry about keeping up with your own or paying a fee to borrow some. Quality--The facilities are exceptionally clean and the bulbs are changed regularly. And, even the lowest level of membership gives you access to well-maintained facial beds. Staff--The gals here seem pretty laid back, sometimes to the point of being distracted. One nice thing is their total lack of sales pressure. Typically tanning salon workers have tried to upsell me to the Platinum package or something or get me to invest in an $80 tanning lotion. These ladies don't really seem concerned about all that. They're polite, but get right to the point--"Name? How long? Okay, room ----." Palm Beach also offers Mystic Tan. Personally, I don't like it. The smell gives me a headache, the waiting to shower thing really annoys me, and the color doesn't look exactly right; however, many people don't tan well from UV or they may need a tan fast, so Mystic would be good for them. It is, after all, the choice of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. So it's got that going for it, which is nice. read more

Constantly try to push lotion every single time you go to tan some days I just want to go in and get my spray tan not defend myself against why I do not need new products. My advice go next door to Tan Etc for half the price can get a friendly staff that also doesn't haggle over lotions. read more

I witnessed the woman working (who was an adult) count from 1-9 on her fingers to see which month matched my September birthday. After painfully watching that, she continued to try to sell me on product. I had to have told her no three times before she chimed in that no spray tan was guaranteed. I get it. You're trained to sell, but if my history shows I've been tanning with you guys for several years and never have purchased a primer - let it go. Now I have to go out of my way to avoid this location. To be honest, Palm Beach Tan isn't all that bad of a place, but I just signed up to do a month of the Versa Spa tan and was told I could cancel at anytime before the next billing period. I canceled a few days before the next billing period but apparently I was a week late in canceling during a certain period so I got billed another $60 for a service I wasn't even satisfied with and wasn't going to use! I got a hold of the customer service center and they said I initialed a paper when I signed up saying I had to cancel in a certain time frame. I'll admit, dumb on my part to not carefully review the paperwork, but I don't think it's hard for them to refund my money when I wasn't even satisfied with the product all because I initialed a document. I'll never be coming here again after such a bad customer service experience and won't recommend it to friends. Beyond that though, the employees were always nice and the facilities were clean so I can't lie about that. read more

Went here today to spray tan for my company holiday party tomorrow. Apparently they have a "new and improved" spray booth. I did the same thing I always do, dark with accelerator and booster. 9 hours later, I look the same as when I went in. Even Mystic Tans website says 1-2 hours and you'll see color. In the pictures you can see my hand which was slathered in the blocking lotion compared to my leg which was not. This has never happened with the old booth they had. I've always had a nice color within 2-3 hours. So now not only am I out the $60 for the "tan". I now have to spend another $40 to get Tarte Maracuja body makeup so I'm not pasty at my party. read more

I put my account on a 5 dollar a month hold and my bank account number changed over the summer. I wasn't notified of the mistake until I came back in the winter to reopen my account and had a $75 fine on top of the $40 "maintenance fee" to hold my account for the season. Not that I don't just love high pressure sales from self-important high school kids, but today I was forced to tan for 8 minutes less than I usually do because I hadn't been in two weeks. Look outside people! It's summertime in Austin, Texas. There are a hundred and one places to get a town in this city from the REAL SUN. I really love Palm Beach Tan. I've been a member here since my junior year of college in Ohio (I'm now 24 living in Austin, TX.). The staff is really personable and provide knowledgeable recommendations based on your skin type and what your goal is. I pay a monthly fee of $49 for unlimited spray tans in the mystic bed (Kiss or 4-turn) & I also get access to the Angel Bed (stand up bed. Red light therapy that vibrates. Good for wrinkles, cellulite, toning, etc.). That to me is a killer deal. The only caveat that I will say is that PBT is understaffed most of the time. This is a common theme for across any location I've been to - I've been to many in Ohio, and 2 in Austin, TX. Expect to spend at least 30-40 minutes here for whatever you plan on doing. There is not a concept of "run in really quick". Nonetheless, I would still recommend PBT read more

I can't say enough about palm beach tan Austin, and the arboretum location especially. They have an amazing selection of beds, a clean facility, and an incredibly friendly and customer service oriented staff. Recently after seeing that a floor hadn't been cleaned before the room was assigned to me to tan, I received a call from McKenzie moments after I left apologizing for the oversight and granting upgrades to my account to compensate. Always something wrong or broken with machines. All the workers are only nice to you to try to sell you a product once you decline they give you the cold shoulder. All the workers are either really dumb and are 25+ with no career goals or young students who really don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. They also almost always let the computer out smart them.... not to mention they don't buy the proper foot stickies for the spray booths they just buy grocery store shoe covers so either get no tan on my feet at all or I wear nothing and my feet get brown on the bottom. My main concern is kindness and welcoming I don't feel I get that and if I paying you 60$ a month/ paying your bills be nice. I shouldn't feel like I am being a inconvenience. read more
