I absolutely loved this place. I've been eating Indian food since I was little, at my friend's houses with their parents' cooking. Since moving to Houston I've been on the hunt for authentic food, with a home cooked feel. Finally found it!! The place is clean, employees are educated about the food and able to make recommendations. I opted for the lunch special of butter chicken, and saag paneer. The naan was soft and yummy and everything was delicious. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Calvin, and mentioned I had heard this was THE place for Indian food. I told him I loved dosas and he let me sample his. It was amazing like the rest of the food. Overall the whole staff is welcoming and I got a sense that Calvin was very proud of his restaurant and it shows in the food and service. Would definitely recommend 10/10 and will be back to try more dishes as I went pretty basic. Portions are great and I had leftovers that honestly I'm thinking about reheating right now :) read more

I got their sampler combo; it's the best and worst decision lol. Best coz the variety and every item was delicious. Worst coz it's a lot of food for $14.99. Either way the hariyali chicken was amazing and so is tamarind chicken. The saag paneer was delicious, I haven't tried my whole plate yet coz I was so full. I just want to go back to try the gongura items Omg I just remembered the naan was perfect!!! I usually don't go for naan but their naan was so good that I had to stop myself from eating all of it. And the owner is so nice and friendly. I would definitely go back!! Their sweet lassi is good too, also interesting coz they added something in it which I can't quite put my finger on but it was delicious regardless. I also like the name of the restaurant. read more

We haven't been here in three years. What a delightful surprise. Excellent attentive service. Very tasty Karachi chicken, chicken jalfrezi and Rasam soup with butter naan and peshwari naan. read more

It's been some time since I've been to and Indian restaurant and this establishment does not disappoint. They say they are a "scratch kitchen" and it is evident from the complex flavors of the food. I had the Gobi Manchurian (crispy cauliflower served with a delicious sauce), an order of vegetarian Samosas, Garlic Naan, and Beef and potato curry. Everything was cooked perfectly and you could tell made fresh. We will be returning in the future. read more

Debated between ordering from the menu and buffet. We love authentic Indian food, and the buffet had all our usual favorites like Goat Roghan Gosht, Chettinad Chicken, Chicken Biryani and Tikka Masala, and more. Started with a plate with a little bit of everything just to sample them and didn't even have time to take a picture. They were all excellent. Went back for another combo plate with a little extra goat and chettinad chicken and added some of the chutneys, also delicious. Finished off the meal with a couple cups of their masala chai tea which was also included and was nice and creamy and not too thin like some other places. The food here is amazing. A nearby table is commenting to the waiter about how delicious everything is, and they ordered from the menu. The spice level was "medium" and we found it nice and spicy. We even used some of the yogurt chutneys to cool off a bit. Overall exactly what we were hoping to find. Anytime we are in this area, we will be back. read more

A marvelous "find'! Yesterday my bride suggested we have lunch at a place we've never visited. Our Go-To search is twit.co, a site run by Facebook's The Woodlands Foodie Group, which I am a member. We cast a wide cuisine net, and Palette was highly rated, well-described, ... and it had been over a year since we dined Indian. So, off we went to our delight. Arriving Tuesday at 1:30 PM, we had the place to ourselves. The owner, Calvin introduced himself and, like and caring customer, we told him how we chose his store. [Folks, do this for owners and managers to let them know' how their marketing investments work ... or don't.] So much for foreplay--On with the food. First, they provide Community Ice Tea, which is awesome, and served in a 12 oz. cup with PLENTY of ice, and free refills. We asked Calvin about his menu, and started with Masala Dosa. [See their menu for description.] OMG, this crepe was a foot long and divine with a spicy dipping sauce. We immediately knew we'd over ordered. Potatoes and spices blended with the sauce and were fine without added moisture. Next, the Chicken Manchurian starter and Chicken Tikka Kabob, with Lemon Rice at Calvin's suggestion and another rice with the Manchurian ... AND Garlic Nan. [Yeah, it was just the two of us seniors and NFW we were going to join the Clean Plate Club.] No pressure. Our mistake was Lemon Rice AFTER a spicy dip. The rice was subtle and would have been great early on. It was wonderful for today's lunch. Now, why not 5-stars? Perhaps it was our ordering, and we'll ask for more guidance from Calvin next visit. The Manchurian was flavorful, but just good. Again, we'd spice out on the Dosa sauce. Kudos for the NOT overcooked chicken. It's tomorrow's lunch. The other reason is the chicken kabob was ridiculously overcooked. I usually ask this not happen with all meats, but I Iforgot this time. In my experience most Indian chicken is cooked to death. The DUH is on me. Bottom line, we're going to study the menu and come back soon. read more

My favorite Indian restaurant by far. Regardless of the dish, the food is exquisite. I highly recommend it.

This is a nice local establishment. It has primarily a Buffay, but you can also order off the menu. The food is as authentic as I've seen in this area. My favorite is the veggie korma, but the butter chicken is divine! The owners live in the neighborhood which makes this business a real jewel. read more

Nice people, authentic Indian food - well flavored and tasty! The portions are huge and it's priced really well.

Great restaurant! Menu and buffet were diverse and the food was excellent! Tasty with just a bit of spice - perfect!

Food is amazing. The samosas are the best I have had. I highly recommend this place. If ordering to-go, I recommend showing up a little after the given time (it's usually not ready right when it says it will be) but worth the wait - great food! read more

Wow. Please do yourself a favor and come here. I'm not one to leave reviews often, but the food, hospitality, and friendliness here forced my hand. Whether you love Indian food or just enjoy incredible flavors and variety, this hits the spot. The husband and wife that own this place are front and center here, and you can taste the sincerity of their love thru the food they serve and the stories they share. Also, Hasan was so helpful and courteous... he really helped choose from the huge selection and kept making sure we were good! Everything here is so cohesive and just makes sense. I've been in Houston/The Woodlands for over two years now and this was my favorite meal so far, though I must admit, that was due in part to the beautiful smile of the girl sitting next to me. I will be back often! read more

Great service and great food. A must go to. This place has become a favorite spot for my wife and I.

Amazing dining experience. Wonderful food and very attentive staff. They offered samples and suggestions to ensure we enjoyed our meal. The meals came out rapidly but still gave us time to enjoy our appetizers. The lamb curry was exquisite. My wife never tried Indian before and was an instant fan. I recommend this place for foodies and those just venturing out. read more

I love this place SO much! I came with my family and friends for my birthday and the waiter was so helpful and eager to answer any of our questions(which I'm sure he gets constantly from people not familiar with Indian food) and was so friendly about it. Everything was so delicious. I went the safe route and got butter chicken and garlic naan- omg it was so good. Not one person at our table was disappointed with what they got. All anyone could talk about was when we were coming back and what we would try next time. The owner, Calvin I believe was his name, did his rounds and checked on everyone and he was so awesome and friendly and personable. He found out it was my birthday and surprised me at the end with a chocolate crêpe with strawberries. I'm so glad we chose to go here. Don't judge a book by its cover. Once you taste the food nothing else matters! read more

Conveniently located off Grand Pkwy, in Spring, Palette features a hybrid buffet-menu order concept for those wanting lunch. The buffet has several traditional buffet items for $16.99. Unlike traditional buffets, you only get to fill your plate once, and a line employee prepares your plate with the items you choose. It isn't so bad when you consider that all-u-can eat Indian places of this quality charge over $20. Besides, do you really NEED an extra serving? The plates are a decent size; however, they put the items you choose in little bowls and use the plate as a carrying tray. This quickly reduces the capacity of the plate, but keeps your saucy items from bleeding together. This is also necessary because they tend to skimp on the meat and go heavy on the sauce. I gave Palette an extra star because they graciously corrected these issues at my request. My advice: No little bowls, ask server to circle rice around the inside if your plate, except the middle. Put samples of the saucy items in sections, on top of the rice. The rice serves the purpose of the little bowls. Ask him/her to put your tandoori items in the center of the circle. Now, you've maximized your plates potential! If you ask for more meat and less sauce, they will accommodate it. The floor manager even gave me a separate bowl of an item that was not available while I was filling my plate. For $13.99, you can order a 4-course combination of meat, vegetable, rice, and naan. This is a better value if you tend to eat the same 3 items from the buffet and/or rarely return for seconds. The food was better than average. My son and I, however, thought that there was little difference between the tastes of the Butter Chicken and Chicken Tika Masala. I do intend to return and bring my boss next time we're out that way. read more

I want to start this review with stating my ethnicity- I'm Hispanic. I want to start with that as I think the food was good, but not the best. I have tried other Indian food places and like the taste of others slightly better than this place, BUT they are far. Ok so tried the Somosas and they were good and warm. I am Goan shrimp curry and tika masala and they were hot and good. The naan could be more airy, but good. read more

Located conveniently at Rayford road, Palette Indian restaurant offers tasty traditional and non traditional south indian cuisine that is sure to delight your tastebuds. If you are looking at the pictures on Yelp, that is the food you will receive (it's rare to actually have the food look exactly like the picture!). Not only does the food and presentation looks good it taste really delicious. All the vegetables, naan bread, and sauce is fresh, with a hint of spiciness that is not too bland but at the same time not too powerful that you can't eat it. It is definitely a genuine Indian restaurant. The menu is very big and they are many options for any type of dietary needs (gluten free, peanut free, kids friendly menu, and many vegetarian options). There also have lunch specials and if you like something different for breakfast, you can try some Indian style breakfast (weekend brunch). The serving size looks small but it is quite filling on the stomach. I will like to add that the restaurant is very well lighted and very clean ( I was also happy to see all employees washing their hands and wearing gloves). Definitely a place I would recommend if you are craving indian but not craving the drive downtown. read more

Phenomenal food. Mediocre service. The food takes a while to come out, but that is because everything is made from scratch. The chef even came the table and he was very personable. The food was definitely worth the wait! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the wait staff. The waitress seemed to forget we were in the restaurant. She barely checked on our table. We had to flag her down for any needs. Our drinks were left unattended until we asked for refills. I would go back for the food, but my hope is that the wait staff will receive some training before our next visit. read more

Sorry this place has gone down since we were last there. We actually canceled our order and left because of how dirty it was. The fountain sodas tasted like they have never cleaned the machine. The window had saliva smears all over it like a kid was playing in it. We barely got service and when we did it was wrong. My husbands food was already done when we tried to cancel so to be nice I said we could take it to go. At this point we had just said something came up and we needed to go. The guy poured the very liquidy sauces directly into the box and then used his hand to scrape the food into the box. He had on a glove I think, but still gross. read more

I come here for the butter chicken and mango lassi yummy just wish was closer as I drive 40 minutes each way each time I come here

I take my family and friends here every time they visit. The best part about this restaurant is the friendly, family style service they provide, along with a delicious array of Indian cuisine dishes. I have ordered from here twice now, the first time we were looking for something small so my husband and I shared the butter chicken and some garlic naan. Even though there was plenty to share we both wished we had our own! The sauce was smooth and so flavorful and the chicken was tender! The naan was a must to sop up all the delicious sauce. The next time we got the butter chicken again and the Goan shrimp! Wow!! The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the sauce was again was star of the show! The service is great and fast and ppl there are very nice! This is now our go to Indian spot! read more

Sooo good! The service was great and so was the food. We had biryani, a selection of curries and, of course, naan and it was all delicious. I wanted to try the dosa as well but we already ordered so much food I couldn't justify it. The mango lassie was creamy, delicious, and perfectly balanced the heat. With tip it was about $90 for 2 of us but as you can tell, we ordered a LOT and have at least 2 more meals for each of us as leftovers. Definitely worth the price! read more

Have gone here several times and never disappointed. Staff and Management are very friendly and approachable. Food is prepared with care and presented well. The food is good. I've been here before and I liked the samosas. Reason for three stars -- website says that they have buffet but they said it's not coming back "because of COVID." No other nod to COVID in their model so not sure of real reason. They need to update their advertising. Instead of an all you can eat 13$ buffet, they are offering a "sample platter-- small amount of a few dishes" for 17.99. It was pretty empty (I'm guessing due to this change). read more

This restaurant is a fooling people by serving them half cooked , bad tasting oil soaked dishes. Added pizza and wraps made with cheapest ingredients and Our Pizza was missing slices !! They served a Large pizza and some slices were shorter and smaller as in they put together the whole circle using individual leftover slices from prior order maybe. The pizza slices were of different size! Medium slices added to OUR large pizza ALL CURRIES have same half cooked spice base! Totally Tasteless The chicken appetizer served was stale and reheated! Chicken Popsicle is Horrible appitizer They reheat the cooked tandoori chicken with a new lemon sauce. The curried tasted bad and seemed like reheated in microwave. It seems like they are fooling non Indian guests by serving anything on the plate showing this is HOW it's made! Bad Bad food- the spices aren't cooked and felt raw in chicken and veggie dishes. Overall bad unhygienic food served on unclean table and dinnerware. Highly under staffed but operating at full capacity to maximize $$$ Don't waste your money, seriously! read more

Original Rating (2/5), please read updates below: Let me start by saying that we have been wanting an Indian restaurant to open close by, my kids we're looking forward to eating some Chicken Marsala. The hours of operation say 11am-2pm, we walked in and we were asked if this was our first time (it was) and we proceeded to seat ourselves. As my son walked to a table we were told by one of the employees that they opened in 20 minutes, mind you this was at 11:40am. Unfortunately we couldn't wait as we had two hungry young kids. 11/2: Thank you for the reply, we will be back after the kinks have been worked out. Looking forward to some good Indian food in the neighborhood. 11/3: we have Palette another chance, the owners were in the restaurant. This made a great difference, the service was friendly and efficient, the food was great and the owners visit your table personally to get feedback. We will be back. read more
