How could I have missed this gem all these years - especially when I come to Willowbrook mall all the time! The BEST Italian bakery I have tried so far in NJ! The lobster tails are better than Carlos Bakery! Yes that is true the cappuccino was superior quality too... Italian doughnut, tiramisu, plain cheesecake, and the ambience is excellent. The lady at counter seemed like the Italian owner (not sure) was super sweet and helpful for a first-timer like me and helped me decide. I'd say this is the most authentic Italian anything I've ever found in the tri-state area. It's the closest to Italia that you'll ever get. People may say their gelato is okish, i disagree I think it's pretty spot on to what Italy has to offer. The problem is the ingredients here in the U.S. are not as fresh and/or processed the same as they are in Italy, but the consistency and the flavor of the Gelato are just like Itaia. As everyone says their pastries are awesome, but me not being much of a sweet tooth, die for their coffee and their lunch menu. I just wish they would open up a bigger place and serve dinner. We visit Palazzone 1960 occasionally once in every few months and like it here each time we visit. Couple of times we came with our friends and they liked the place as well. There is a good selection of coffees to choose from and there is vast selection of desserts to loose onself. We have tried different varierties of coffees here, Verona, Mokaccino, Milano and Firenze and think of this place when we feel like drinking speciality coffees. This time we simply got cappuccino and hot chocolate to go and they also tasted great. We try and taste different desserts each time though lobster tail is a repetition as hubby likes it. The dessert sizes are usually mini which I like and yet they are somewhat filling. One of the times we also got assorted cookies and they were all very good, addictive actually. The service here is very cordial. The other day while we were at here, there was a kid next to us who saw a cookie and was asking her mom, meanwhile one of the staff, wonder if he is the owner, gave the kid the cookie to sample and the kid was very happy. Its always nice to witness cordial staff. Hope they continue to keep up the good spirit even in the future. Also, the gentleman who prepared our cappuccino and hot chocolate did so with patience despite the store being crowded and did a very good job. We truly enjoy coming here. read more

I have to laugh when I hear people say they bought excellent pastries from a box store, LMAO that how uneducated they are when it comes to food. Like fresh mozzarella you eat at the same time you buy it, not putting it in the refrigerator for tomorrow....WHAT if you ever had fresh just made mozzarella you know what I mean. Think of Palazzone 1940 like a very mini version of Eataly, but without the booths/marketplace feel and with an obviously more limited selection. If you're looking for Italian pastries, these are the best I have ever had in the area. I highly recommend the lobster claws, cannoli, and other small pastries. I normally order a small square-shaped raspberry (hot pink) colored tart that is out of this world. Next up: I would love to try the coffee and lunch or dinner! read more

But more than worth the trip to Wayne. Great, different Italian pastry selection. Everything we tried was excellent and the creams OMG. Italian Pasticceria ofDreams! I have driven by this restaurant and bakery on my way home from the Willowbrook Mall several times and wondered what type of place this was. I had recently arrived fromTexas, so it reminded me of a modern Tearoom, but New Jersey style. To my delight, when I walked into the bright light of this restaurant, a rainbow of perfectly designed pastries and confections surrounded me.I sat at a white table with clear lucite chairs that were surround by larger than life sensual poster of Italian desserts, chocolates, food and an inviting woman standing next to her Vespa. The service was friendly. Daniella made sure all my food was consciously place on my salad bowl. All was fresh and perfectly balanced. She also created the perfect cappuccino with a luscious layer of foaming cream. Gelato is also available. Their motto is "Italian Living" which means perfection of food and service. It is a difficult and windy drive to get to this location. Once there, there is a small parking lot that is full despite the inconvenient location. The interior needs a little work. The pastry display is beautiful but the seating area is decorated with bright lighting, white walls, and plastic chairs. I went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and was seated right away by very friendly staff. I ordered the risotto and the positano coffee and my mother ordered the sandwich with prosciutto and mozzarella. The risotto was extremely salty and I could not finish more than a quarter of it because my mouth was on fire. My mother's sandwich was quite good, the mozzarella is apparently made in house so it tasted fresh. The baguette did not taste homemade, however. The coffee I ordered was on the specialty menu so it had cocoa and was extremely sweet. However, I could tell that the quality of the coffee is good. When I peeked at other tables the other dishes looked extremely delicious so I think I ordered the wrong item and am willing to give this place another try. Another awesome part of this store is that all the staff members and many of the customers speak in Italian, which confirms the authenticity. read more

i have been here few times and everything is awesome... recently i tried there gelato was good but to me nothing like Italy... sorry... but he pastries omg its my weakness and they can bake... vey reminiscent to Italy right down to the cakes which leaves you choosing for a bit... We had a group of 9 for lunch, we had few different panninis and gnocchi and pasta dish as well... my favorite was the Giancarlo.... prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella pannini... why four stars? The waitress... very inattentive to our group. We repeated had to get up and ask for items, mind you two customers ( my parents... in there 80's) I repeatley said water with lemon, not bottled water. No other place in north jersey comes even close to this. 99% of the other so called 5 star cafes around this area, are getting their products from Restaurant depot or Costco and then marking it up and selling it as imported. This is a true Italian eatery as evidenced by all the actual Italians sitting eating and going nuts over the soccer (football). Food is excellent and has that European subtlety of flavours and quality of ingredients. We had onion soup-delicious and chicken Milanese/penne-also delicious. The setting is pretty casual in the white tables and lucite chairs, but the crowd always seems dressed to impress regardless. If you can manage to squeeze yourself in off route 23, you will never be disappointed. Next time will have to try out those gorgeous pastries they have. read more
