Eddie and his team put the finishing touch on our back yard! We live on a hill in Ramona that is subject to really strong winds and after several months, this palapa has withstood the test of time. Solid and beautiful construction, my wife and I are very happy with the results. One bit of advice, go for the synthetic thatch, it's worth every penny in the long run. read more

Palapa Guy - Our palapa - Patio Coverings Near Me - Murrieta, California

We purchased a home with a very neglected large palapa (approx. 25 feet). We had purchased palapa thatch ourselves and put that up but were never happy with the look/quality. We were seriously considering tearing down the whole thing and having a new solid roofed structure built, that was until we called Eddie at Palapa Guy. Eddie gave us an estimate and showed us before/after pics of similar projects. The install involved a nearly new re-build. The posts were kept, but reinforced with additional bracing, and the new roof was completely torn down and rebuilt. All wood was stained and sealed. Install included a solid plywood roof, covered with roofing paper, then covered with palapa thatch. Underneath the inside of the roof was finished in a tightly woven reed mat. The structure is now waterproof and allows us to keep our tv mounted in the palapa with some peace of mind. The install took a full day and included all clean up and haul of the old material. The crew did a very good job of the clean up. I can't say enough about the look and quality. The finished product looks like something right out of a high-end resort or recreation park. Our thoughts on palapas have changed entirely thanks to Eddie and his crew. I've posted one pic to show the inside of the Palapa, all lit up. read more

This is the 2nd "Palapa" that George and his crew built for me at my Norco residence. The first rectangular shaped Palapa built for my fire pit area in 2020 was awesome and the second "umbrella" shaped Palapa built for my new BBQ Island in 2021 was every bit as nice. George's attention to detail, precision and quality building my two Palapas was outstanding. You could do business with George on a handshake. If you are looking for a tropical look for backyard entertaining I would highly consider you look at the Palapa option and George from "Palapa Guy" is the person and Company I would have build it for you. Their final product is gorgeous! Again, thank you, George read more

Eddie, the Palapa Guy, came out and gave us a quote quicker than any of the other companies we called. He was professional, honest, and helpful. We ended up going with the synthetic palapa. We needed a rethatch and a rebuild of the top part of our palapa. It had been several years since we put it in. His company did a GREAT job, finished it in one day and it looks sooo much better than before. We highly recommend Eddie, The Palapa Guy!!! read more

"The Palapa Guy" Best in the Palapa business!! Eddie and his crew did an awesome job on our Palapa! We are more than satisfied. Eddie has over-reached our expectations. The workmanship is outstanding! We had a BBQ right after the Palapa was built and all of guest were more than impressed. He really took the time to go over everything with me making sure it was built the way we wanted it. We also had lighting and a fan added. Exceptional work and very reasonable prices for the work that's provided. Eddie has been in the business for years and is very passionate about his work and it shows. I highly recommend Eddie "The Palapa Guy" to anyone looking for an island retreat in their own backyard. Adding the Palapa over our BBQ is the best thing we did. It's like your away on vacation at a tropical island only it's in your own backyard. Thanks to Eddie and his crew for all the hard work. Amy read more

Wow, were we impressed with Eddie Valdez and his crew at Palapa Guy. He more than met our expectations. We so wanted a high quality cover for our patio and bar in the backyard...I feel so lucky to have found this really professional installer. His crew were courteous and extra tidy...Eddie designed and supervised the entire project himself..unlike so many other installers who show up just to collect the check. I recommend this business to anyone looking for a beautiful backyard addition or a outdoor setting that takes you to the tropics. read more

We hired Eddie and his crew a couple of months back. From the moment I spoke to him on the phone, I knew he would be the guy to hire for our palapa replacement. Eddie and and his crew did an AMAZING job, they were very professional and honest! Eddie was just down to earth, I felt like I was talking to a father figure. I can't brag enough about how honest this man is. He made sure everything was perfect. What we got from these guys was beyond our expectations. Once complete, it was ready to be enjoyed. They cleaned up after themselves and swept my backyard to the point that I had to stop them because I felt guilty. These guys ROCK!! If you're in need of a palapa, Eddie is your guy! Don't waste your time. Made an appointment to meet the Palapa Guy to replace a Palapa top that he originally installed and he was a no show. Called to see what was up and never received a return phone call. Very rude to keep a potential client waiting and never contact to apologize or reschedule. Called Tropical Shade Imports in San Diego and they were out two days later with a reasonable quote and great work. Save your day... call someone else. read more

What a great experience! Had a one-post palapa in need of serious attention. Referred by Laurel B. (who also posted a review). Called and spoke to Eddie on Wednesday, he came out on Friday to provide an estimate and came with his crew today to remove the entire old palapa and install a new two-post, lighted, with outlet, water-proof, BEAUTIFUL palapa. In a little over 6 hours, it was complete and every bit of debris was cleaned up and removed. He stayed at the site to ensure our satisfaction. Wish he and his crew had been used in the first place! If you need a palapa or even just a repair or replacement of thatch, this is the company to call. Could not be any happier with the finished project. I even hugged him! LOVE it! read more

We had our palapa installed 10 years ago and they have since redone it twice. The last time was 4 years ago. I called them 5 months ago to have it redone again and Eddie told me to send him a pic and he would get back to me with the cost. Never heard from him. I called him again last month and he said they were very busy and wouldn't be able to come to the house until the end of June or beginning of July. He would call me back. Did he? NO! I'll not be using the Palapa Guy again. Clearly his business is so big now that he can't return calls to his long time customers. read more

We had Eddie re-thatch our palapa, had two layers installed. We've used Eddie before and knew we could trust the work being done even though we couldn't be home. George does great Work and our palapa turned out great but I tried to give him more Work and he doesn't have the business sense to keep in touch with his clients. I have text him multiple times for work at my primary house and he keeps pushing me off. Unfortunately I will not be working with him now. Like a lot of small businesses the ability to manage the admin and have organizational and customer service skills is poor. I hope he considers that this is just as important or more important than his carpentry skills. read more

Had a palapa installed about 6 years ago by this guys, now it needs rethatching, I called them again and again and again and no luck getting them to come to my house which is in Murrieta also, is not like they have to travel long ways, I would leave messages and Got a call back telling me they would come and do ot and didnt bother coming or calling again even though I called them again numerous times, Is like they don't care about the small jobs, sure they do good work but at Least Have The Courtesy To Call Back And Take Care Of Previous customers, Is Not Like if I asked them to do it for free. read more

OMG what can't I say about our experience with The Palapa Guy! We lived in Palm Springs for 21 years and my husband use to get our cars washed at the Airport Car Wash, where they had a couple palapas to sit under for shade while you were waiting for your car. He picked us a business card for the guy who built these palapas and stuck it in his wallet. Moving forward about 2-3 years, we decided to rent our house out in the desert and move to Murrieta. The home we purchased had a beautiful outdoor kitchen with a ratty old palapa over it. We initially decided to get a few improvements done to the home, (and even though these improvements turned out beautiful, it was a very messy and STRESSFUL period of time)! So we we're hesitant to go thru another hassle like that, but just couldn't stand looking at that nasty palapa any longer. So I looked in the phone book to see what I could find, when my husband remembered this business card he had stuck away in his wallet years earlier. So we called that number and low and behold...got ourselve's "The Palapa Prince"! Eddie Valdez is like no other contractor you'll ever meet. He is not only professional, but is a genius in his trade. I think he could turn any backyard into a tropical oasis that you will treasure for years to come. And even though my husband and I didn't believe he could possibly get our palapa done in the time he promised, he did exactly that! And gave us more than we ever dreamed we would have in our own back yard. His crew was awesome. They came to work and that's exactly what they did. Never taking breaks, taking only about 30 min. for lunch, and cleaning up every- thing, every night before they went home. And Eddie there several times a day making sure everything was going smoothly. We've had Eddie over a couple of times for parties we've thrown since then, and when he shows up with his BEAUTIFUL big smile that lights up any room, we tell our other guests, "That's Eddie, that's our Palapa Guy"! And they all can't say enough about the gorgeous job he did. That's our story...Oh and there is one thing you should know about me....I am what my family and friends would call a little OCD (ok maybe alot), but it takes alot to impress me because I like things perfect and I don't see anything wrong with that. The Palapa Guy aka Eddie Valdez, not only impressed me, but blew me away! If you ever want to improve, change or completely transform your backyard, please trust me, this is your guy. read more
