Once we decided to proceed he told us the date that was available and we took it. The crew showed up on time and pretty much disassembled everything and rebuilt it with stronger wood. Many thanks to Eddy and the team at the Palapa Guy. We worked with Jason at Valley Hot Spring Spas and BBQs to design and build our custom outdoor kitchen. We wanted a palapa roof and that is how we met Eddy and the team. Eddy came out to do a sight check and get some rough dimensions. When the bbq island had been delivered Eddy came back to confirm the actual dimensions and start the work. Eddy is the absolute professional! We had some questions about stain color and Eddy made another trip with some samples of the wood and stain. A couple days later and the team finished the install and we could not be happier. The palapa is just beautiful and all the small details really turn it into a piece of art. Don't call anyone else. Eduardo and his crew are fantastic. I called them out to put a new thatch on my existing structure, but the structure was literally falling apart. I really needed it done quickly for a party we were having very soon. Eduardo called in the troops and had it done in a day. The palapa they put together was so much better than the one I had. It was so secure the workers were able to stand on it. They not only built a great structure, but they also put down tar paper on the plywood in between the layers to make it rain resistant. I had a rather large palapa built by another vendor and the roof and thatch needed a to be replaced so I called the palapa guy and was throughly impressed with his prompt response and price to re-roof our large and small palapa. Avoid this company. If you have a problem after spending thousands they don't correct and will only give a tiny refund not enough to pay another company. They are not a licensed company so CA Contractors License Board could not help. They claim no employees and DoNot have Workers Compensation insurance. My 19 year old African Palapa, had 2 tiny hole slivers and was faded. We had parties in the rain and our BBQ didn't get wet underneath. Unfortunately, I used George from this unlicensed company. The replacement African cover has more holes than my 19yr old cover I replaced. It does not even provide enough shade and leaks very bad! Neither has plywood but old did not leak because heavy duty African thatch was used. George at Palapa Guy used the cheaper light weight and claimed Backyard escapes only had one type which was false as I got photos f boxes of 2 different yes. George refused to fix all if the large holes sent by photo and refused to replace with heavy duty thatch. ​Eddie gave a small refund, but in the Heat realized we weren't even getting good shade from the cover. read more

My wife and I purchased a second home in Bermuda Dune, CA several years ago. Interestingly, it came with a palapa in the backyard by the swimming pool. Our palapa has a palm frond thatched cover on the top. These thatched covers only last so many years in the intense heat of the desert summers. Indeed, it looked not only very different but much improved from the original structure. We are very happy with their work; their work is superior.
