Second week in in a row they have cancelled my appointment. It's my birthday. And it's Mother's Day weekend and they have put my gel nails off for 31/3 weeks now. They look horrible. Last week I scheduled online and was confirmed a date time and the actual mail technician. Once I arrived, I was told they couldn't find my confirmed spot and that my assigned tech was busy and they had no more availability. The time before that when they actually honored my appmt, another customer showed up for her appointment only to be told that the person with whom she scheduled was working with another customer and there was no one available. Biggest disappointment in a business. Don't waste your time, because they will. My advice? Pay your employees so you have enough people available to serve your customers. read more

I really want to say nice things about about this place but... I got the signature of pedicure for 45 minutes paid full amount and got less than 30 minutes of pedicure I was like I just got here how come I'm leaving so soon lol I look at the clock it's only 3:52, and my pedicure started at 3:28 so I complained and the receptionist said we can't adjust the price ‍. I was like I am not asking for price adjustment I am complaining so I can get my full treatment which I paid for. I live in south Raleigh, went all the way to north hills and paid so much money on which I wasn't even satisfied. Honestly it felt like I spent more time on driving than getting my treatment done. Wasted my money and time. Sure they did a marvelous job on making the salon pretty and lavish, everything is clean but if the customer service is not there than I'm sorry I would never recommend this place to anyone. Please save your money and support small businesses rather than going to these luxurious looking places. read more

Two stars for location and friendliness of the workers. I got a deluxe pedicure and basic gel manicure for $95. My gel manicure did not even last a day - it was peeling within 24 hours. There were bubbles throughout my nails. My pedicure has already chipped on my big toe. For that kind of money I was expecting better quality. I was hoping things would be my new spot, but will be trying somewhere else going forward. read more

The moment I walk in the salon Casey greeted me and explained about unlimited membership which I got already for 2 months. Every day during the week I come here and I feel so special. Casey knows what my preference in beverage and I don't even have to ask. My nail technician is so special too. I am so lucky I got her the first time she gives the best massages and also every time she is not there every nail tech is so kind and attentive that it just so nice to come here twice a week and leave not only with beautiful nails but also in amazing mood! I love this place! I don't go anymore anywhere else to get my nails done. I also got my fiend a Christmas present an unlimited membership as mine so now we can do it together anytime or separate and we love it! Thank you ladies! Alexandra! read more

Average gel manicure at stations that were very close together. To my right were someone's feet getting a pedicure way too close for my comfort. Would I return? Probably not. Not the relaxing environment and attention to detail I want when having my nails done. read more

This salon is elevated in every way possible. From interior aesthetics to the nail polish to the high level of service, this is the best place to go in Raleigh for nail services. All of the techs have a spa or heightened beauty service background, so the manicure and pedicure is custom and very thorough. Nail polish selection is excellent, with Chanel polish and other specialty nail polish brands as the main option. The pedicure chairs are large and cushy, and each chair has a blanket to cover up with. All the techs are friendly, helpful, and highly skilled at what they do! read more

My nail tech was not paying attention and did my gel nail color a different color than my toenails which were supposed to match for a wedding I was attending the next weekend. She was also very rude and said she couldn't fix it because she had back to back appointments. For $75 to get a mani/pedi, I should have got the right color. The manager just said sorry when I called to inform her how ridiculous this was. I would not recommend or ever go back. read more

This salon is amazing in the aspects of looks but terrible in the aspects of customer service. Manicure was fabulous, but I had the unfortunate event of meeting the manager Kacey with green hair. She was very rude and very unprofessional about my whole visit. From the moment I walked in I was stared at in disgust for reasons I'm unsure of. The experience with the nail tech was great but by the end of the visit I felt more unwanted and rushed than I ever have in a nail salon. I will never return & unfortunately do not recommend if anyone is looking for a good salon with ALL aspects included. read more

I really enjoyed my pedicure today! My toes look great, and I loved the ambience. Most importantly, I was impressed with the level of sanitation. Finally a place in Raleigh with an autoclave and no jets! I am now just hoping for them to start using Dazzle Dry, so I do not have to wait so long for drying. read more

Kasey and the staff at Paintbase were absolutely wonderful! I made an appointment for 11 people in my bridal party and they made sure we were taken care of and didn't have to wait. I changed my appointment multiple times (I kept adding people) and Kasey was nothing but helpful. Their technicians are great at what they do and we had such a fun time! read more

Very clean with professional staff. Prices were fair for services. I was very satisfied with my pedicure. I will be returning. It's very important to me not to have supplies reused on everyone especially with now with Covid. Paintbase has definitely impressed me with their practices of cleaning. read more

Don't be fooled by the beautiful decor and lovely graphic design... Paintbase is all surface charm and no skill. My friend and I went in looking for a basic manicure and were excited to find a more lux modern looking salon in the triangle. Upon arrival they took our credit card on file and scheduled an appt. When we arrived back an hour later we were not offered any beverages and brought back to get our nails done. After about 5 minutes (I wish I had timed it) my nails where finished. A quickly done job with a completely lack of attention to detail or some of the basic manicure steps one usually experienced at less lux looking salons. Cleaning under the nails nor cleaning up the nail bed was simply not included or ignored. My nail technician was quiet and focused but I'm not sure on what because it sure wasn't my manicure. My friends technician was quite nice but she struggled to file almond shaped nails. When it time to paint it seemed like she was unfamiliar with the particular brand (chanel) and struggled to properly coat the nails. Once finished and at the drying table we realized that we had both received the worst and most expensive manicure we've ever gotten. Our nails had both be filed with untrained hands and painted with barely a thought. Once it came time to pay my companion was informed she choose at "lux" brand and it was an additional 3 dollars. Normally such an up-charge would have not phased us but after the subpar experience and already pricey service we were a bit irritated about not being informed prior to the service. We left realizing we were both 24-27 dollars down with a manicure we could have easily done with more precision ourselves. While waiting after my 5 minute -24$ manicure I noticed that the woman receiving a pedicure had to sit on the tip of their chair. The decor (while lovely) lacks in functionality. Save your money by spending half the price, letting go of the glam decor we love so dearly, and get yourself an actual manicure. Other more established salons in the triangle with less trendy decor have nail technicians who are experts at their craft and never leave us disappointed. I only believe this place stays in business from the surface decor. We will not be returning. read more

Paintbase - Most nails were hastily filed with no attention to detail. - Nail Salons Near Me - Raleigh, North Carolina

The salon is very chic and modern with its interior decor however it's lacking customer service and quality nail service. I wanted to love this place so I continued to book appointments only to be disappointed. Out of the nail techs I've been booked with only one of them has actually done my nails the way I requested and actually spoke to me instead of awkwardly sitting in silence. The last time I visited I was given the wrong service and my gel manicure began to peel up within 1 day as well as my nails being shaped the wrong way. I called to book a repair and although I was told it would be complimentary as it had only been one day it was a pain to schedule the appointment. The management/desk girls need improvement on their customer service skills, during several appointments they interrupted the nail tech to rush them for another appointment. I'll be looking to take my business elsewhere especially considering this place is very over priced. EDIT: I find it quite comical that the staff/manager felt the need to leave a review on their own business...classy Kasey. read more

I have been to PaintBase numerous times to be seen by Lana. Unfortunately, Lana no longer works there and my last experience was so sad! I went today for an 11:15 appointment that I made online with Cameron for a gel manicure. She was running late (no fault of her own...the appointments do seem crammed in back to back), and I asked if I could do a dip powder mani instead. I was told yes, and waited for Cameron to finish. She was ready at approximately 11:30, and then told the front desk that she doesn't do dip powder. I had to wait for another tech, Deja. She was "almost done" and 15 minutes later, finished. I was told that I could be done by 12:30...then after consulting with Deja, the front desk told me 1 pm. I get that it takes time, and I wasn't upset or confused by that at all. What WAS frustrating though is that I had an appointment at 11:15, and at the earliest, I could have been seen at maybe 11:30 for a regular gel mani. They proceeded to try to explain to me that I changed my service (yep, I know. I literally said that to them) so there wasn't anything they could do. I have a full time job with a limited lunch hour. I understand that not everyone has these restrictions. Something needs to be done about the timeliness of appointments at PaintBase for those who need to get in and out on a weekday afternoon. read more

This place is overpriced. I am so upset that I spent $50 for a pedicure that does not have bubbling water. I was thinking that they may do something to makeup for not having the tub foot massage but no, it was very basic. The lady even forgot to put soap in the water. So, for a while my feet was just soaking in water, until I said something about it. Some people come for the aesthetics and for service, beautiful place but I would never come back again for a pedicure. read more

I decided to go out on a limb and try Paintbase. I was pleasantly surprised at how detailed they were with my finger nails. They did it in a quick amount of time too. If you are looking for a beautiful, modern, nail salon to give you: gorgeous, lively nails than this is your place. I highly believe that they should have a higher review. read more

After several months of seeing their fun designs on social media, I decided to give this place a try. I had a signature mani/pedi done by Luna and was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, this was the last time I'll ever go to Paintbase. I've been many times since it opened, because I really wanted to love it, but I have always left disappointed. They do have a very cute interior and designer nail polishes that other nail places in Raleigh don't carry. As a result however, you pay way more for a manicure that's not just mediocre, it's actually consistently worse than if I just went to a "normal" nail place. Every time I've gotten a gel manicure here, it has started peeling in just a few days. Furthermore, there's not a consistent experience among the nail techs that you get- one may do your cuticles, another may skip them altogether, even if the service details seem clearly defined. What actually prompted me to write this review though is the customer service at this Paintbase location. As other reviews mention, you are basically required to book an appointment pretty far in advance and they will charge you for not showing. I'm fine with this, however, literally every time I have showed up for my appointment, they are not ready for me and I have to wait at least 10 minutes, one time up to 40 minutes past the time I booked for just to have the service that I made an appointment for- I can't tell you how much time I've spent just waiting at Paintbase!! I understand that sometimes they can get busy, but it has happened every single time I've gone to Paintbase regardless of what service I booked, and both the nail tech and the front desk girl haven't seemed concerned about it at all. This is a frustrating experience, especially when their policy is that they charge you to cancel, so you make an effort to get there on time. I know a lot of people have had great experiences here, and I think that's great. I love the idea of this place, but in my multiple experiences it just hasn't lived up at all. If you're on the fence about coming here or going somewhere else, I would recommend sticking with a more typical nail place, as Paintbase doesn't deliver anything better than that. read more

I had my first lash lift with Cam and I am incredibly pleased with the results. My lashes are not very long and grow straight and I can tell a noticeable difference in my lashes from this session. My nails look horrible on top of it the paint job was streaky and un even. read more

Gel polish started chipping within 1 week. Feels like a less upscale version of MiniLuxe. Not worth the price.

Awesome service! The place is very clean and everyone was wearing masks so it felt very safe. When you go ask for June! She is very personable and pays attention to detail. My pet peeve is when the gel peels off a week after so she did an extra third coat! Book her she is the best!! read more

Not only is this place absolutely beautiful, but the staff is super sweet. The interior is stunning and the polish selection is the best I've ever seen. I also like the fact that they don't use whirlpools for their pedicures (reduces chance of bacteria). I was pampered and treated nicely and after a few days my polish still looks good as new! This is my new, go to spot. read more

This place has been Magical! This is the only place I get gel. Other places scrape hurt and damage my thin nails, here my natural nails have never looked healthier or been so long! I actually have to cut my nails now vs years of stubby short nails that peel and break. The service atmosphere and professional quality is top notch. If something was to go wrong, I would advise communicating with staff. They treat all clients respectfully and couldn't be more accommodating. Best of the best read more

Booked for a wedding party. Good service but 4/5 gel manicures we got chipped within days, one chipping not even 24 hours after. Nice ambiance but overpriced for the quality. Not a good selection of colors either, especially for dip polishes. read more

I love getting my nails done at Paintbase. The staff are so welcoming and hospitable. They offer you a beverage as soon as you walk in the door. The decor is so cute and the salon is very clean. Definitely recommend giving it a try! read more

My first review! My friend and I went in for an impromptu Saturday afternoon treat! First time here! We both had the worst experience. It took 2 hours to have our nails done because the techs went to the back after they started our service and didn't come back for 30 minutes or more. You could hear them laughing in the back. I had to ask reception to go get my nail tech. Cuticles were not attended to amongst other things. Too much to complain about. The Place is beautiful but I will never go back. read more

Terrible service! I followed them on instagram and they advertise nail art, I went in and picked out colors and when I told the nail tech that I wanted nail art she seemed surprised and said "oh okay well I'll see what I can do. I'm not promising you anything" it turned out decent at best however, 4 days later 3 of my nails have chipped. I went in to get the nails fixed and they said they had to charge me for each nail. That is ridiculous. I paid $60.00 for a shellac manicure only for it to chip 4 days later and then they wanted to charge me for it. I WILL not be back read more

I got my lashes done here and they did a great job!! The salon itself is pretty inside and the staff is very nice.

Paintbase is a killer salon! The staff is very kind and they love to be creative with your nails! I love that they make your visit special as soon as you walk into the door. I mean who doesn't love to be pampered with champagne, a neck pillow, and pretty fingers or toes! I travel from a distance to this salon because it is my favorite and trust me, I have been through the ringer when it comes to all different salons. I have stuck with the same nail technician but have had others and I am always satisfied. Don't let the bad reviews discourage your visit, i have never had a negative visit and you are really paying for great quality. Their products are clean, as healthy as they can be, and those healthy products really do make a difference. I have noticed that my nails are stronger and look way better after my visit compared to my other visits at other salons. I have a hard time being satisfied with my nail salons and this one I am going to stick with!! One thing i really enjoy is the range of colors and the nail technician's range in what they can do. It is a modern place with a relaxed flair, completely different and innovative from other salons!! Give it a shot! The staff is darling and so are the managers! I love this place and would love to take it with me if i ever have to move away! read more

I booked an online pedi appointment after I received an email that offered a discount if I came on a specific day. They did not have my appointment scheduled but were able to get me in a few minutes. I paid for a $50 Pedi which is supposed to last 50 minutes with an extended massage. I was done in 35 minutes, 40 max. I've had better and longer massages with a $35 pedicure. The store is beautiful but you're definitely paying for that beauty and the high NH rent. I won't be back. read more

Very cute salon but won't be back. Being a nail tech myself, I went to check it out. I splurged for the "luxe" pedicure which was supposed to be LOTS of pampering but instead I got a half-ass massage, sugar scrub, paraffin, a nail tech who walked off several times, and a not so great polish job. read more

If you book, book online. Called to book appointment with nail artist that did fantastic job on my nails two weeks ago. Time was vacant online but said they were full when I called, and then continued to ask multiple questions to push me toward another nail tech. This was my attempt at a third time trying this place, it's a shame they have great talent there but less than appealing customer service for their venue location and price point. No one that works there seems enthused to be there. read more

I got a gel manicure at paintbase in North Hills and it was the worst experience I've ever had. First, the appointment was at 2:00 and they didn't seat us for thirty minutes. The women doing our nails complained the entire time, she didn't file my nails perfectly, and gel is supposed to stay on for THREE WEEKS and one of my nails already started peeling and the polish has been on for I KID YOU NOT THREE DAYS. Also, the prices online were completely vague and when we went into the store, they tried to scam us into paying $40+ for literally a gel polish with a design. I will never go here again, this place is bougie for no reason, overpriced, and has awful customer service. read more

After a mediocre experience at the Glenwood location I decided to give the North Hills location a try because I had a gift card. I was equally unimpressed with the experience and have no plans of returning. My technician was not very friendly and took personal offense to any changes I asked her to make such as evening up the filing on my nails. She had very long acrylic fingernails which were painful to me when she was doing my toes. The shop itself is a failed attempt at a modern approach. The oversized chairs at the pedicure stations are very awkward and impractical for a pedicure. The desks for the manicures are so narrow that it is impossible to sit close enough without being right on top of the nail tech. The final straw for me was the $15 I was charged for a polish change on my toes. I have never seen a polish change over $10 and was stunned when I checked out. Overall the results are mediocre and I will return to my trusted shopping center nail salon for all future services. read more
