This review is LONG overdue but feel the need to address as I have read similar experiences with my ONE and ONLY time getting a haircut from Travis H Vu. Had high hopes for him as he did a nice job on IG page. I saw him when he was working in Tustin/Irvine salon utilizing a booth space. I was a little early so he was finishing up and they were chatting and he was cursing. No big deal as i'm sure we all use profanity. He was chatty with the girl before me but I did not get that. I showed him an inspo photo and he immediately said "that won't work, her torso longer than yours" ok. "Something like that is fine. He then proceeds to insult me by saying how I have thick hair and that I should find a "specialist" that works on my type of hair. I felt and it came off as rude! I'm thinking, I'm Asian, don't you work on Asian hair? He then proceeds to check my hair out not feeling it and said that there is not much for him to do except to take a little off and that he will still charge me $90/$95 whatever his prices were. I've paid more for haircuts so it wasn't a concern. I said that's fine. The whole experience was just awkward, I've initiated the conversation by asking him questions and he would answer and not ask me anything besides who colors your hair what do you use and making suggestions on formula and products to use(told me to use serum and applied it on for me to show difference BEFORE he started My haircut/style. Initially, I thought he was going to turn me away during consultation but he didn't and it looked like he regretted it as his attitude changed from previous client. With some people, we just don't mesh well. I get it, i don't have sleek shiny hair, like most of his girls featured on his page, but at least fake it so i could enjoy the finish look. I left there tipping him $10 and like another person said, he did not deserve it. He was monotone and had no expression. Just complained on my hair texture, color and previous haircut lol he kept shaking his head. Finish look was ok. I know he was as hoping I didn't return. Oh, don't worry about that I can read body language well and know when my business is not welcomed! Stay away from his arrogance. He's not as great as he thinks he is. There are better hairdressers out there who are genuinely nice and will do great work without making you feel inferior. I found this place on tiktok and the girl who got her haircut was raving about this spot. When I got there I was very upset with the cleanliness, the chair I sat in to wash my hair was broken. I wanted long layers and long bangs I had a picture to show as well, but it seemed like no one there spoke english very well and they did not listen to me either. He cut off too much off my hair and the technique he was doing was very odd to me. He kept cutting the hair on to my face which was pretty annoying. Some reviews complain about the wait, but I couldn't care how long I have to wait to get a haircut here. First, the hair wash station is best I have ever experienced. They have the most comfortable chair I've ever been on. It massages your entire body while you get your hair washed by the owners wife who does AMAZING. Next, Nick is truly an ARTIST and your hair is the canvas. I always give him my full trust and end up completely satisfied. Every single time he blow dries my hair and I think I'm done I am already so satisfied, he goes in and makes it more perfect. He is truly a perfectionist in every way and makes sure that the hair cut suits your face. I also had my hair dyed here after another place gave me what I did not ask for and I loved the result. I will be moving to San Diego soon for school, but I will be continuing to come up here for my haircuts. read more

I went in for a blow dry and style. I normally go to Ssooniestyle in LA but I've been looking for a place in OC, but this place is not good at all. There were a lot of things wrong unfortunately. I think they had an assistant wash my hair, which is usually fine. But the water she used was too hot and inappropriate for color treated hair like mine. I only use cold, distilled water on my hair at home. The wash itself was thorough. I don't know if they used conditioner. It didn't seem like it. Normally, I am asked if I want purple shampoo since I am blonde but this was not offered. She then took me to blow dry me which was surprising since I thought a stylist would blow dry my hair. She was very nice but did not speak English so I struggled to communicate with her. She did not put any product in my hair like a detangler or heat protectant. Normally, these things are standard for the protection of the client's hair and the stylist will even use enhancing products as well. If I had known they did not use product as a standard part of their blowout, I would have brought my own products from home. In fact, I brought my own anti-humidity product since I don't expect that salons carry this product. I asked her to use it but she didn't use enough. I thanked her anyway. The blow dry itself was very rough because my hair was not brushed before the wash and they did not use a detangling product. So my hair was very tangled. I initially indicated that I wanted curls and showed a photo. But I decided against it because I could not bear the idea of them not using a heat protectant on my hair before curling it. So once my hair was dry, I told them politely that I would just like to leave it as is. She gave me a weird tilted parting in my hair even though I came in with a middle part. Ironically, my hair looked better when I came in than when I left. I reached to the back of my head after I left and felt that there was still a significant portion of my hair that was wet. I ended up having to re-wet and style my hair because my hair was bone dry after she used hot water on it and blow dried it without product. I still tipped because she was a nice lady. Great hair wash/massage and style salon. The hair wash & massage lasted a very long time which was wonderful, and their technique is great. The waiting area is nice with chairs and tables and there's music videos (Kpop when I was there) playing on the tv - my kid enjoyed both the selection of waiting toys/books and also the Kpop). We both enjoyed our hair wash/massage and felt very relaxed afterwards. After the wash they styled our hair to our specific requests - very well done and they really take their time and give attention to detail in their services (we both did styling w/ curling). Nice selection of products used - Origins, Olaplex, Kerastase. We were essentially walk-ins (I called to see if they had immediate appointments) and they took their time, even past closing, to finish the services. I drive from Palos Verdes because I like this salon that much. Jema has done my highlights twice, and they're beautiful. She takes a lot of time on them hence they look natural. Nick has cut my hair twice, and he's wonderful, too. I use google translator to communicate with them. Yesterday for the first time, I was shampooed in a massage chair. This review is for Vincent. Vincent is the sweetest and so professional. He takes his time to really do the best job possible and make sure you are happy with the results. I have only gotten a wash, blowout, and style done by Vincent so far but I can tell he is very good at his craft and have seen other clients leave with fabulous cuts and colors from him as well as the other stylists there while I was in the salon. I have a medical device in my body that can't get wet so showering and washing my hair is a whole ordeal and I often don't have the energy to do it all myself. So during the times when I can't wash my hair myself I will go to a salon to get help since they have the special chair/hair washing bowl and I don't have to worry about my medical issues getting in the way. It sucks because I have to spend extra money just to care for my body but it is what it is. I used to have my go to salon where they gave me a really generous price do to the nature of why I had to come in for hair washes more frequently and they were just really kind stylists. But I moved up here to Irvine and I have had trouble finding a salon that can wash my hair really well, will take their time to really get it nice and clean, and that doesn't cost me a ton of money just for a wash and blow dry. I even tried the "dry bar" type places where they only do blowouts and styling and they charge SO much money I may as well just be getting a whole haircut! I wish there was special discounts for people like myself with disabilities that really need the help but alas we do not live in a disability friendly world, such is life. I called salon after salon and either was told the price would be so high I couldn't afford it or they didn't have time to fit me in. Often times when I have a good day and I'm feeling well enough to go get this done it can be sort of on the fly since my health issues are unpredictable. So I was feeling defeated until I decided to give Pai de Salon a try. It said online they took walk ins AND they were open on Sunday which was amazing. So I was hopeful. The last hurdle was how much did they charge for this service? I was SO excited to hear that their prices were very affordable and they could take me right away!! My lucky day! Then upon arrival I was greeted very warmly by the staff. Vincent came and introduced himself and lead me to his station so I could set down my stuff and then took me back to the hair washing stations. When I say he really took his time and scrubbed my hair clean I mean he REALLY did an incredible job. I love the feeling of getting my hair washed and Vincent does not disappoint. He really got in there and made sure it was nice and clean, he took his time and he even did a head massage and man I really needed it too. I swear Vincent is an Angel on Earth! After the hair washing he took me to his station, he used heat protectant and he blow dried my hair. I have A LOT of hair and he was so patient and kind and even gentle about it. Another stylist even stepped in to help him fry it quicker since my hair is so long and I have so much of it. Very kind of her to help. After my hair was dry he styled it doing loose curls kind of like a glam surfer girl style haha and that's exactly what I wanted! I LOVED my hair. It was the night of my nephews graduation and I just wanted to feel clean and pretty and Vincent made me feel just that. I really can't say enough great things about my experience with Vincent and this salon. Everyone there is kind. Someone in another review said they felt they were treated poorly because they do not speak Chinese. I can assure you that is not the case at all here! I am white, I do not speak any other languages except a little Spanish so I have no Chinese speaking ability whatsoever and they have been nothing but kind and welcoming to me from day 1! They even welcomed my little dog I brought with me the first time I went in and Vincent asked where he was the second visit when he was not with me. If you're on the fence about trying this salon I highly suggest you give them a try. Even if you're not of Asian decent, they can do all different hair types and styles. Ask for Vincent if you want to be sure you're getting a great stylist. Or I've heard that the owner is very good as well and I believe I did see him working last time I was in there and I would agree! Thank you for your kindness and generosity Vincent! You truly make such a difference for my life. It seems like a small thing to others but for someone that has struggled to feel beautiful due to my chronic illness situation you really have made a great impact.
