I was almost in tears because my hair was orange literally the week after I got it done and dropped so much money. my hair felt so dry and looked like I havent gotten my hair done in a year. I tried to tell myself it doesn't look that bad but the more I looked at it, the more upset I got. So I was looking for someone on yelp to help me fix this and came across Moc Hair Studio. The reviews were great and although I was nervous I couldn't stand to look at my hair anymore the way it was so I took the leap of faith and gave it a try. Allen was so informative and let me know what exactly my previous hair person did to make it look like that. He explained what he will do to fix it and throughout the entire process I could tell how meticulous he was. I felt like I was in good hands and after he was done, my hair looked like what I wanted it to look like in the first place!! I was so impressed with his work that I decided the next time I needed my hair done I'm coming back. Fast forward to yesterday.. I wanted a change with my hair so I decided to go back to Allen and see what magic he could work. I wanted to try something a bit different from what I usually go for and I knew Allen could do it but from previous trauma of going to the same person multiple times and never getting exactly what I wanted, I was still scared. Again he calmed my nerves by taking his time and making sure everything looked perfect. She had cut 6 inches of my hair off and looked regretful at the end. Even her coworker was expressing in Korean how short it was. My hair is a mess and it's too short now to be saved. Yet, I still had to pay a whooping $90 for it. The owner of the business also seems to be gaslighting and bullying anyone who gives them a negative review on here. I know my family and I will be going to Aldo for years to come. Before finding Aldo, I was going to a well-known, high-end salon on PCH in Newport Beach. Somewhere along the way, they stopped listening to what I wanted. My hair always looked great when I walked out of the salon, but the moment I washed it myself, I realized the cut just wasn't right. Either it wasn't a good cut, or it simply didn't suit my face. I'm a busy person--I don't have time to spend every morning styling my hair just to make a haircut work. I spent weeks researching salons on Yelp and probably overthought the whole process before finally making an appointment with Aldo. From the moment I walked in, I knew I had found the right person. He's genuine, straightforward, and refreshingly honest--no fluff, no sales pitch, just someone who truly cares about doing great work. The salon has such a fun, welcoming energy, and it's obvious everyone genuinely enjoys working together. Aldo took the time to really listen. We talked at length about what I had liked--and more importantly, what I hadn't liked--about previous cuts. It's my second time here! I came in knowing vaguely what I wanted (Some sort of lighter brown with bangs since I had black hair with no bangs lol). We chatted and then I simply trusted the process. She ended up giving me curtain bangs that can also be a little wispy also, and cut my hair to a length that looked soooo good. There was so much attention to detail when she was cutting too. It was great. For the color, she said that a lighter color might not actually look the best on me and a subtle brown might be better! I was pretty down for whatever she thought looked good so I trusted the process again. Let me tell you... this subtle brown looked so good with the cut. Also, my hair? Soft as HECK. It was kinda gritty before so I was shook when I touched my hair after the appt. She chatted with me lots and also gave me space too. It was a great balance and also she answered my questions!! I always have so many questions and she answered them all for me!! Including... how to style my hair because I suck at those things. I'll take any advice and tips I can get.
