Garlic shrimp. The garlic itself tastes smooth not pungent, and the sauce is a bit charcoal flavor. Bread they provide perfect for dip.

Birria Tacos 5/5: I opted for their two bigger birria taco entree. Included was an au jus to dip in. Very good. The taste reminds me of an authentic Mexican restaurant closer to me locally, and I raved about the birria tacos from there. I get the same exact flavor in the beef here. The difference with these birria tacos is that you get more cheese between the two soft tortillas, and that the tortillas didn't taste as crunchy. I don't mind this. There was still some crunch from the shell. with nice melted cheese and well seasoned stewed beef following right along. Garlic Shrimp Appetizer 5/5: Wow where do I start? The garlic pieces are cooked through to the point of not being pungent. It's a nice smooth taste. The first thing that comes to mind is a nice charred taste that follows with quality shrimp. I appreciate the ocean zest! The soft and fluffy bread provided has been charred too. Drench the bread in the sauce, I enjoyed this appetizer more than I should haha. This was at their new location. Bathrooms could be cleaner. I wish the tortilla chips included with guac and also complimentary were hot before serving. Owner is very nice, and he is from Cali. He brought the good taco technique over, haha. If you go on a weekend, there may be a possibility you'll have to wait because of the amount of takeout traffic they get. I like the ambience, it's a small group trying to introduce NJ to better authentic tacos. The better authentic taco revolution is gaining steam.

Amazing birria tacos!! So juicy, full of meat, and flavorful. The paella was okay but they put a lot of seafood in it. The shrimp in garlic sauce app had an amazing sauce and was perfect for dipping bread in. Overall, a great meal!

Quesabirria tacos are so amazing here but definitely on the pricier side. Staff is very nice and BYOB.

My First Time Here But My Friend Came Here A Few Times And She Never Had A Problem She Gives This Restaurant A 5 Star Always. My Chicken Tacos Where Perfectly Seasoned And Fresh My Friend Got Quesadillas With Rice And Refried Beans And It Was Placed Perfectly On The Plate I Tried The Food From Her Plate And My Mouth Was Watering The Food Here At This Restaurant Is Absolutely Delicious I Recommend This Place If Your Looking To Just Sit, Relax And Eat. The Guy Running The Front End Is Very Nice And Is Always Attending All His Customers. HE has Great Customer Service. This Place Is Comfy And Cozy Definitely A Nice Place To Come They Have A/C In Case Your Cold I Say Bring a Light Jacket But The Air Is Refreshing To Top It Off I Order A Frozen Lemonade And It's Out Of This World I Will Definitely Be Coming Back To This Place.

Harrison's hidden gem and I highly recommend the birria We ordered flautas, shrimp tacos, and birria tacos with cheese, and the overall flavor was on point. The staff was great and welcoming, and I look forward to our next order.

My trip here was pretty underwhelming. The birria tacos were subpar compared to the couple others that I've had...they're large, and i actually think they were overstuffed, kinda bland and the tortillas on mine were just falling apart as I ate. Not worth the $15 for two of them. We also had chicken nachos, which weren't the worst ever, but again...they were just so bland and dry. There was no sort of salsa, guac or anything on them. Just cheese, dry chicken, lettuce, tomato and what I think was sour cream drizzled on top. There's way better Mexican food in the area and you're better off going into Passaic for more authentic versions of birria tacos, or even up the road to Mi Pueblito for better Mexican.

Came here on a Friday night. We were a little skeptical bc it was dead when we arrived. Parking was a bit tricky in the area. As I read the reviews now, I see the lot in the back is for customers.. There should be a sign for that. Also, the place itself is easily missed. Its a small place on the corner. For the important part- The food- Spanish/Mexican. I started with a coffee and my boyfriend had a ginger ale. Service was top notch the entire way. They gave warm milk with the coffee which i really loved. Refills are not free, fyi. I ordered the paella mariscos and it was amazing- a perfect amount of seafood. I love the sauces they also served with it. The green sauce was my fave. My b/f ordered the steak fajitas which were also amazing and it came with a ton of food. Price was perfect. BYOB We would def come back. THe people next to us said that tres leches cake is amazing so i'll try that next time

Inside....7 colorful tables provided to dine in

One word: Churassco (Skirt steak cooked Medium with yellow rice, black beans, sautéed onions, and sweet plantains) - OMG steak was cooked perfectly, seasoning spot on...juicy...great side of the rice and beans....Onion was yummy.....wasn't raw....and the sweet plantains....oh man....they weren't greasy....let's just say I wanted more!! Beef empanadas I heard were very tasty...my husband and daughter shared an order...came with 2. The reason for 4 stars only was because I wasn't so fond of the chicken tacos....it was lacking seasoning on the chicken. It needed some kick to it. It was $9 and it came with 3 soft tacos...not bad. The service was great...so friendly. The place was literally on the corner on riverside ave.....place had about 7 tables....very colorful but dim inside. They also provide a few specials. I definitely want to come back and try their paella and more. Definitely look up their menu and Call and place your order.....that helps too!

    Mole enchilada

I had a family dinner with boo boo, my sis, mom, friend and my favorite brother in law during 4th of july weekend. There's limited seating, on a busy night I can imagine there will be a wait. The food is worth the wait. We shared empanadas and the shrimp with garlic sauce for apps. We ordered the paella, churrasco (steak), enchiladas, and chicken with garlic sauce. Boo Boo and I also got the mango smoothie made with water. My stomach does not do will with milk unless its in coffee. The food did take long time to come to come out but we were in rush and it wasn't busy that night. I had the enchiladas with mole and my friend got his with salsa verde. I like the mole better but it was too salty for me but packed with flavor. The steaks comes sizzling hot on the hot plate. The paella takes around 20 minutes to finish so place your order of paella with your app order if you decide to get it. There was plenty of seafood chicken and sausage in the paella. I would order that if i was really hungry. We shared a order of churro. And it was really good. better than costco's for sure. There's caramel inside it and chocolate dipping sauce. This place is a great place in the middle of nowhere to me, Its in lyndhusrt but near the boder of north arlington. CC accepted but there is a minimum.

First time ordering from this place and loved the food and portion. I got the palomilla, it comes with rice beans and sweet plantains and everything was delicious. I also ordered the birria tacos and guacamole with chips. The tacos were fantastic; however, the guacamole lacked flavor and tasted like the avocado wasn't ripe enough.

Shrimp cheese tacos and dipping sauce
    Coral R.

The tacos are bigger than most places. It was really good but not worth the price. The dipping sauce was watery. It is basically broth with cilantro and onions.

    Entrance area.

Decent Mexican food. Seating for about 20 in restaurant. Fajita meat had no taste. Rice and beans were ok. Tough off street parking. Service was not attentive. Better Mexican restaurants around.

Second time I've been here and 5 star experience both times. The Birria tacos with cheese are AMAZING. It came with 2 and they are packed with so much meat. Very filling and delicious. The owner is very nice. Will be back again.

Tops Diner, the (historic) Clark Thread factory (closed for decades and currently being made into a housing complex which is going to be insane for this area) and... Pic-Nic. (East Newark should be absorbed into Harrison, but I'll keep my nose out of zoning and redistricting and stick to the job at hand...) The sangria? Delicious. (But worth $30 a pitcher?) And only finding out when the bill arrived and we'd ordered two... ouch! The garlic shrimp appetizer? Yeah, still the best in the biz. (The sauce alone is worthy of a darn Michelin star.) We were a party of seven. We had a bit of everything when it came to the entrees. My chicken dish - brilliant. (The star might've been those roasted potatoes swimming in a delicious brown-garlic sauce.) The other adults all seemed to really love their dishes, too. But we need to discuss my kids' food. They're varsity athletes that run 8-10 miles a day. They were hungry and bragged about how much food they were about to put away. The older twin tried paella (for the very first time) and about halfway through? He had to quit. (But he really dug all the various seafood and proteins mixed in the saffron-infused yellow rice served in a tiny Portuguese cauldron of sorts.) The younger twin? Obsessed with steak. He ordered the "Beef à Pic-Nic" and... okay, anyone know the YouTuber 'Beard Meets Food' that travels the world to attempt ridiculous food challenges? That's what arrived at our table. Easily the most amount of food I ever saw that was technically for just one person. He went to work and eventually said, "Dad. Please do not make me breakfast or lunch tomorrow." (something I never heard before - all because he was THAT full right now) I looked over at his dish and... it didn't even look like he put a dent in it. When we asked for doggy-bags the two workers seemed to chuckle that we 'failed' the mission at hand. All things considered: the bill wasn't too bad for the amount of (tasty) food. (Overlooking the alcohol portion, of course!) Cool workers all around. Restaurant looks good. They have a (mighty small) lot and there's some street parking (if you're lucky). Recommended, for sure.

Shrimp was perfectly cooked and the flavor/texture was robust and unique. The amount was perfect as well. Then for my 2nd course, squid and chourico, which was also so good. Not as good as the shrimp but the portion was pretty good and I was honestly getting full by the end of this. I finished with the duck paella, which was my favorite of the night. It was perfectly crispy while not tasting burnt, with a rich flavor of the duck, sauce, and little peppers combined. Definitely a unique dish - I'm glad I tried it! I sipped on the red sangria and one bottle lasted me the whole meal. It was a good amount and tasted strong and not too sweet! Service was amazing - my server was Amanda. She was super attentive and easy to talk to. My water was always filled and the timing of the food coming out was perfect! The restaurant had a great vibe inside. It was small but not tight. There was a kale salad that was fresh and bright also very good. The quail dish was tender but succulent. The octopus dish was nicely done but if you like it very tender this might not be to your liking as this is prepared with a bit of chew. Overall food was great but portions small. Now these are tapas so if you tend to eat a lot or you skipped lunch you probably will leave still a bit hungry. The prix fix price of 85 is a bit much I thought for the portions (quail was four small pieces, octopus had three pieces) but given the quality I would still go back. Service was good with water filled without being asked and we were asked if everything was good more than once. One thing to note this is is a very small place so the tables are very close. You will definitely hear conversations of your neighbor. So if you prefer more privacy this may be a problem. Tasca is an excellent addition that is unique in Montclair.
