The reviews definitely held up to the hype, the food tasted really fresh, and the portion for the price you paid was amazing. My husband got a steak dish and it literally came with the steak and rice. No onions, peppers, salsa, cilantro.. nothing except a 2oz. cup of Ketchup? I got shrimp tacos. You could tell the shrimp was frozen and had absolutely no flavor. The one positive was the guacamole. It was $5 for a 5oz. cup and it was actually very good. This is a small mom and pop place with lots of Mexican decor all around. I truly enjoyed their salsa and their effort on esthetics. I would add a little more seasoning to the beans to really bring them to life. Their tacos were good if you just need something quick like. I tried their birraria tacos as well and the flavor is there but would recommend allowing them to roast longer so it's not so soggy. What a better time to update my review of Mi Pueblito than during cinco de mayo quarantine lockdown? To brighten my cinco de mayo I ordered my go-to = chicken tostadas, chicken burrito, chips and salsa and of course a tres leches dessert. It's just quality every single time. I've literally never had an issue with this restaurant, it's ALWAYS good. Calling up and ordering delivery is always a breeze. Yes, they're very Mexican but if you can't stay on hold for a minute while they go find the English speaking worker than you don't deserve this delicious food. Chicken tostadas is probably my favorite dish from here. Crunchy perfect tortillas, seasoned grilled chicken, bean sauce and fresh queso. I just ate it and I'm already wanting it again. It's the perfect dish. Their burritos are mini babies. They're perfect little angel burritos served with their famous rice and beans and a little scoop of guac on the side. I usually go for chicken but their shrimp is excellent too. I've had almost everything on the menu and it's all fantastic, these just happen to be my favorite. Their tacos, hurraches, tortas, enchiladas, quesadillas, spicy shrimp/chicken soup, chilaqules, everything, I mean everything is perfection. Their signature salsas too, don't sleep on those. Whatever you order, please just get yourself some chips and salsa and a tres leches for dessert. Trust me. The food here is consistently consistently delicious! I usually pick up my food because I live near by but this 50th time around I decided to have it delivered. Same quality, same huge portions, still piping hot on arrival. This place is soooooo frickin' good! I always get the $12 chicken quesadilla because I just loveeee it. They don't skimp on the chicken to cheese ratio at all. This time I ventured out slightly lol and tried the shrimp quesadilla...whoaaaaaa the flavor is spot on. I might be switching to shrimp from now on. The shrimp were medium sized and had a nice grilled taste to them. I also love that this place always gives huge portions of rice and beans. This is the first Yelp review that I've ever written and it's because this Mexican spot is THAT GOOD! During Covid I've started to check out all of the local spots around the area and this is, by far, the best Mexican food I've had! Not only do they serve a huge portion for a great price, but there's nothing bland about anything that they make. On Saturday I decided to try their chicken quesadilla and was shocked when I saw how big the platter was once I got home, which can easily feed 2-3 people under $12! I'm Dominican and beans are a big deal for me and their rice and beans were so good that I couldn't stop eating it! I also love the side of guac and pico that came included on the to-go order. Came here for dinner on a cold windy Friday night. I had to park a couple blocks down street. The restaurant is small with around 6 tables. I was lucky to snag one by the window. The waitress was very nice and gave me plenty time to decide what I wanted while she went to get my horchata. I ordered the chilaquiles with spicy pork and red sauce. and the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. Another waitress brought out chips and salsa. I made the mistake of snacking on them instead of saving room for the entrees. The chip were really good as they weren't salted and very crispy. The entrees were legit and portion were huge. I should have checked the pics on yelp before ordering. The chilaquiles is something I didn't think i would order because its like a soggy nacho. The chips are thick so some remained solid giving a great texture. The mole for the enchilada was very good as well. It had a rich and smokey flavor. The horchata helped bring balance. I should have ordered a tres leche on my way out. This is a very legit Mexican restaurant. I hope they don't get greedy move to a new location a hike up the prices. Credit card accepted. I love Mexican food but the food in this restaurant was average nothing special the service was good.

Decided to stop here quickly for lunch, ordered the 15 tacos for 40$. The meat selection gave us plenty of options to customize our tray. For the money the tacos were decently filled and authentic with onion and cilantro and a double tortilla. Not pictured but we also ordered the spicy mole chicken. The mole sauce was one of the best I've ever had although I wish the kitchen wasn't as bony as it was. Overall definitely recommend this place read more

Oh so good! This is a small authentic Mexican restaurant that serves delicious traditional dishes. Came here for a quick dinner and left feeling satisfied and oh so happy. Even though they are small they have a decent seating area. When you arrive they bring chips amd different salsas to the table. The sauces were really good. For my entree I had the shrimp tostadas. Delicious! Each tostada had over 10 shrimps on top and they were served with a wedge of fresh avocado on top. Want to come back soon to try their quac which is suppose to be amazing. Mi Pueblito sets my new standard for Mexican food. It is a tiny mom and pop restaurant in Kearny that serves authentic Mexican. I wouldn't call it a hole-in-the-wall as it's a lot more cozy and clean, with tasteful decor. There are only 5-6 tables, so for dinner it's best to get there before 7pm. The menu is quite extensive. We ordered a good variety so we can try a little bit of everything. (We did come hungry.) We started with the guacamole, an order of Nachos "Mi Pueblito", and 2 tamales. They give you a complimentary basket of homemade tortilla chips and salsa as well. The guacamole was really good and was finished within minutes. The Nachos, topped with ground beef and melted cheese, was delicious especially with the guacamole. We also had one red tamale with pork and one green tamale with chicken. Both had a nice kick, but if I had to choose one, I would go with the green tamale. For my main course, I had the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce, served with rice and beans. The plate comes with 4 enchiladas which was more than enough. What makes the dish is the spicy mole sauce, which had lots of bold flavors. The chicken was nicely cooked and tender. My husband had the tacos with spicy pork and enjoyed the dish as well. The tacos and toppings were all fresh. Prices are right and the service is friendly. When in town and want some authentic Mexican food then this is your place to go. They have a variety of dishes to choose from. We ordered the steak burrito and steak quesadilla. Both were served with rice and beans. It was finger licking good! We also ordered a chicken soup in which my daughter ate half of. Keep in mind it was a size small. The next day my daughter requested to bring the left overs for lunch! Their drink options are just as good. You can regular sodas, juices and imported drinks as well. I've had their take outs and the portions are very big. Definitely worth the low pricing. My bill was $30 for my meal and 2 others. Service was excellent. There are 3 things you need to know before coming here: 1. They don't give a ishh about your peanut allergy or if you like mild instead of spicy, orders are as is on the menu. 2. For me the best bang for your buck was the tacos $7 (plus I was craving tacos all day after watching a Mexican cooking show). The pernil (pork) tacos are amazing with grilled onions and loaded with cilantro and radishes; squirt some lime on those suckers and get ready to lick your plate clean. My second favorite was the skirt steak $14.50 with rice and beans. Normally not a fan of refried beans, but these had good flavor and paired perfectly with the Spanish rice. The skirt steak was a really good portion too. Last we had the chicken tostadas which were not my favorite. Mostly because I think they were missing something, like a kick or some kind. A cute little restaurant with only a few tables inside but I pretty extensive menu. I saw they have chilequiles and tortas, so we had to try. I got the spicy pork chilequiles with two fried eggs on it and my husband got the spicy pork torta (you cannot go wrong with pork). Both were delicious but my chilequiles were HEAVEN. Tonight was the night and probably the last time I would return to this restaurant. The amount of disrespect I received tonight was disgraceful. I come here often, but it's sad how horrible my experience was. I called in an order for pick up and was told that my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes. I waited about 20 minutes before driving 15 minutes to the restaurant to then hear that my order wasn't ready. After waiting another 20 minutes and paying for my food. It still wasn't ready. So I went in asking for my refund. I don't think that it is right for anyone to have to wait over an hour for a pick up order. I was told they were busy and they basically argued and stalled for more time so they can hurry up and get my order ready. The 1 girl there was apologetic, which would have been great if the other 1 girl wasn't basically saying that we are busy so you have to deal with it and the other 1 girl sat there laughing at the situation.
