Fish fry Friday
Tara Lynn O.

Great neighborhood bar! I've been twice and both times service was great and the food was good. All of the food has been delicious. Cheese curds were great along with the fish fry and Rueben. They have a diff special each day of the week - fish fry is all you can eat on Friday and very delicious. They also had a deal for beers too. Will be back! Only compliant is they didn't have Guinness on tap either time although it was on the menu. Seems like they should with their name :)

The fish comes with fries. You can upgrade to curly fries for a small fee.

All-you-can-eat Friday fish fry review: It's still a great price for really good fish $12.75 as of April 2022). My husby upgraded to curly fries which were too crisp. Not a big deal since neither of us could finish our fish. Service is good; they're attentive and pleasant. Give it a shot if you're on the fence.

Curly fries were great!

Outdoor seating was perfect! We wanted to sit outside because of Covid-19, but I would enjoy it during normal times weather permitting. In our case, it was a pleasant Spring evening. My whole family was together so that made it extra special. Service was slow, otherwise I would have given a 5 star rating. Our food was excellent. Among our orders were Ceasars salad, tuna salad, turkey hamburger, grilled chicken sandwich. The cole slaw could have been a larger portion. The curly fries and sweet potato fries were delicious. Although service was slow, in the end, that was OK because we got to stick around and enjoy our company. Then, when it started to rain, we were safely under cover until it stopped. The waitress was very couteous and pleasant. I would definitely return. In fact, I told my son and daughter-in-law that they should eat here every night because they live within walking distance. Thanks for helping us make a precious memory.

This is a great little bar! Decent drink options, plenty of tv's and the food was really good (the tater tots were really perfectly done). Staff was also very friendly and welcoming. My husband has been here several times but this was a first for me and I look forward to coming again!

Paddy Mac $15 Fish Stick and Chips.

Been going here for past year. Was good place for fish and chips and other menu items. Today got same fish and chips to go. Got home and got what looks like 3 fish sticks. Called spoke with blonde bar tender to let her know this is not right. I wanted to give them a chance, but as we about to end call. We can hear her say for us to "...F@ck off." Called back she knew she was caught. She picked up and hung up. Called back spoke with Zach. Complained about her and he first denied she said it. Then he stated she should've not said it. I heard how this woman treated people in other reviews. Nope. No more. That mouth will cost you business...... Look at the picture. These are NOT fillets, but fish sticks that cost $5 each. We got two orders of fish sticks with fries.

$15 sauces that no one ever eats or wants. Just say no, either to the sauce or going at all. Your choice.

Food still solid. Not going to find crazy cheap beer anymore, but still good for Chicago. Outside seating a plus but service will be spotty (being kind). Objection would be the shady pricing. Sure 90¢ wings on Thursdays sound good in theory, but when they charge you 50¢ PER WING for sauce you didn't even want in the first place, you leave feeling like the schmuck you probably are. That's right, for those out there who like me also answer "whatever, I don't care" to the ranch or blue cheese question, you should probably rethink being there at all because they'll bust your wallet for $15 for three plastic thimbles of white stuff (still not sure if it was ranch or blue cheese). When did restaurant pricing become a game of "let's see what we can slide by people"? I'll blame Covid, but whatever the reason, Paddy Mac's has taken that game to a new level.

Best Friday all you can eat fish fry! Can't beat it for $13. They also have drink specials too on Friday.

At 4pm on a weekday it was already bustling, and this place is popular for good reason! The entire vibe and the staff are just super cool. Even the bathrooms are an experience, with heavy metal music blasting in a way that just adds to the unique charm. To drink, I tried the lucky linny and blood orange sour, which were both fantastic. I'm not typically a huge beer person, but after this visit I'm well on my way to crossing to the other side. For the appetizer, we split the cheese curds. I really liked the Korean inspired twist and the kimchi aioli served alongside. I think it could've used a little more salt and arrived warmer for a nice cheese pull, but otherwise it was enjoyable. I opted for the double cheeseburger as the main event, and it was really well done. The beef was juicy, perfectly cooked, with ample high quality cheese and caramelized onions. I think the sauce could've used an extra something, but overall it was a great burger. Great experience all around. Can't recommend highly enough and look forward to returning soon!

But after settling in, the bartender took care of us, and I very much appreciated the $5 pints on special because most things seemed to cost a few bucks more than it needed to. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was worth it, though. The mac and cheese, even with bacon added, topped out at okay. From at atmosphere standpoint, it definitely the place to be in Mayfair/Old Irving Park.

I thought it would be more like a brewery where one could spend some time hanging out and unwinding, a "third-place" kind of spot. When I showed up, I found that while there was a patio, it was the kind where you had to be seated by a host. Thus, unless you are at the bar, spontaneous conversations with strangers are less likely. With that said, Eris is a large brewpub with a full bar, including liquor and cocktails, as well as a robust food menu. Wanting only to try some ciders, I took a seat at the bar. I had the opportunity to try a 5-ounce pour each of the E-Phoria and the Van Van Mojo. Both were tasty. The E-Phoria was on the sweeter side, while the Van Van Mojo was less sweet (though not entirely dry) and unique with the addition of blueberries. Neither was mind-blowing, but both were enjoyable in their own right. The bar service was A-OK, especially considering it was a very quiet night. It was friendly and somewhat attentive. I appreciate that there are some closing-related duties that have to be done, and watching the two patrons at the bar like a hawk might make them nervous. Final Verdict: I think the trick with Eris is not to treat it as a "let me get a beverage and hang out" place, but rather a place for a sit-down meal and drinks. With that, I am hoping to return at some point with an empty stomach. However, to be 100% fair, I am not itching to break down the door and come back.
