Paddy Mac's is the mac daddy! Celebrated a friends birthday here this past weekend, and Paddy Mac's was the perfect bar to do it at. We started early so it was pretty open and we were able to take up an entire side of the bar. It never got packed in there so we were able to properly enjoy our celebration. There is a good beer selection they carry. As for food, we only had the spinach artichoke dip and that was very yummy. This was not my first time here, I've been going here every once in awhile for ten years now but this was my most memorable. read more

The service was fine! Maybe they gave a/some bartenders the boot, or I got lucky and came at a good time? Not sure, but the bartender was nice and attentive. It was their first trivia night and the questions were a variety of attainable pop culture/sports Q's that any well-rounded male/female team would have no problem with. The beer special was excellent, Miller Lite Personal Pitchers for $3.50. I think I was able to get 3 glasses out of pitcher. Don't expect top notch food here though, maybe eat elsewhere. Unless I was mistaken the "kitchen" is what seems like the corner of the bar by the entrance. No molecular gastronomy going on here. ONE BURGER TOOK AN HOUR TO COOK AND IT STILL WASN'T DONE. He swore to customers. If they were rowdy or not still, have some class and cook my burger! I was not expecting to like this place- I am so over the whole "Irish Bar" genre, but this place has a very rock n' roll vibe & young, friendly clientele & bartender. Loved the "whose your paddy" shirt. Bartender PJ knew his beers and was great to shoot the shit with. I withhold my final star until I try the food- I hear it's awesome. Might have been easier to rate the service if WE HAD ANY!!!!! My roommate literally, LITerally waited for 40 f***cking minutes for a drink as the bartender all but ignored him. She bussed, poured shots, chatted and counted money as my roommate sat at the bar looking at her with a bill in his hand. That was embarrassing for both she and him. I was embarrassed for the both of us. While she preened her dollar store post-grunge look he sat there wondering what he had done. Was he drunk? buzzed but then again she had poured drink after drink for a man who could barely stand. Ill not only never attend this place again but highly recommend people go elsewhere. read more

This is your basic bar. They have daily food specials, a sidewalk patio, good selection of beers and spirits. It's so stereotypical you can almost imagine it having never been there. Good place to watch the game. It is the neighborhood bar. What more can I say? read more

Best burgers and tator tots in town.

I love this local hotspot.. In the summer I cam bring my dog to the beer garden. Everyone mistakes her for the Bartenders dog... so she gets a lot of attention. I have spend alot of long nights there and can stumble home and return for my car the next day. I haven't been there much lately since my ex lives across the street and spends most night there. It has a great mix of people of all ages and you are likely to get into a spirited conversation with some of the regulars. the service is good, the food is fantastic and its very reasonable. There are always drinks specials as well. They used to always have some pools going during Da Bears games but I haven't bee there this season to see if they are still going on. read more

I don't understand what everyone is expecting form a pub. The complaints I continuously see here are about the service. It's a bar, people. You know, where you walk up to the BAR and order another drink. It's not a full service restaurant. Your food is delivered promptly and it's always good. Okay, I am not a regular and my rating is based on comparing this to other neighborhood bars, not restaurants. Never have had bad service and love the tots. As to all the service complaints in other reviews, I recommend you never go to a neighborhood pub in London, Ireland, etc. because it is YOUR job to order a beer and ask for a menu. I love going to paddy mac's, wish I had found it sooner having lived in this neighborhood over a year now. This bar has awesome food. If it's available, you must try their hot pastrami sandwich which they smoke themselves and is delicious. Nice staff and regulars, good beer specials. read more

Food: 3 Drinks: 4 Atmosphere 4 Staff 5 Had the Irish corned beef, which is listed as "homemade". I'd believe it's homemade, as the meat itself seems to be of good quality, but there really wasn't any flavor to it. It's like they boiled the flavor out of it & didn't bother to season it while cooking. Shame, cuz it looked so good. Horseradish on the side had a nice kick, though, so it kinda made up for the meat. Kinda. The tots that came with my sandwich were good as long as they were hot, but by the end, it was clear to see how much grease they were oozing. I'd guess they needed to heat the oil a little more so the tots didn't soak up as much grease, but honestly, people seem to come here to get drunk & eat greasy food, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Beer specials were ok, decent selection of drafts/bottles/cans to fit most budgets If I ever went back, I'd probably try a burger, since that's harder to find fault in than specialties like corned beef. I live in the suburbs, though, so I have more choices when driving into the city than this, it just happened to be close to where my friend was staying at the time. Either way, cheers! read more

Unpretentious neighborhood bar with great specials everyday of the week. For instance, Tuesdays are $3 for Dos Equis and $3.00 bratwurst and tater tots. I recommend sticking with the specials- the food is average quality bar food so do yourself a favor and save some cash. The TVs are set to blaring and the bar and high tops sit high, so not the best place to drink and get work done. Better to sit back, get a quick bite, pint, and catch up on the local news. read more

Having read the many positive reviews, I came here for dinner on a weekend with my boyfriend. The place was only moderately busy, but no one ever greeted us or came to where we were sitting to see what we wanted to order, even though we were sitting with menus in front of us. 15 minutes later after several bartenders walked passed us without a word, we just left without even ordering a drink. Whoever decided to put tater tots on the menu is my friend for life. I don't eat french fries much, so it's a lovely option to have. One issue - they changed their buffalo chicken sandwich sauce recipe a while back - it is now somewhere between the way I like it (very spicy and vinegary) and barbecue sauce. It's okay, but not great, anymore. They usually have a couple of good microbrews available in addition to the nasty mass-produced stuff, and their prices are pretty darn good, so they're a solid go-to place for us. read more

Seeing as I live about a block away, I order food from here A LOT when I don't feel like cooking. My go-to is the grilled chicked sandwich and tater tots...yummy, delicious tater tots. You'll definately find typical bar fare here, but better than most places. BUT BRING BACK THE PRETZEL BUN PADDY MACS'S! That made a good sandwich great. Now they just have the typical plan hamburger buns like you find anywhere. I can't really comment on the indoor atmosphere as I usually get my food to go and enjoy some drinks at home, but seems like a laid back place. And they have a great outdoor seating area in the summer with a flat screen. read more

giving 4 stars since its not the fanciest place, but food is awesome especially for the price. Me and my bf have been going for over a yr now , its close from home , wed nights r the best they have really cheap ribs and their actually really good, grilled to order the bbq sauce on them are great and i always get full on just a half slab(that how meaty they are and i can eat alot of meat) Also beer is cheap, they have differant specials every month some times its like $3 stellas or Saporo which you cannot beat. Plus the bartenders are always so friendly and the place is quite fun!!they have darts, board games and have like 10 differant tvs where you can watch any sports game on. definitely recommend for a cheap, fun, casual night out!! read more

We live right around the Corner from Paddy's and we go there all the time! The staff is personable and get to know the regulars likes pretty quick. They just changed there menu and the new items are really good. They still have the old favorites like the grilled cheese delux with bacon and a fried egg, but they added more variety. I have a friend with a gluten intollerance who is also a vegitarian and she can eat there. Plus they have tater tots or fries as a choice for most menu items! You can also order a salad instead if that is something you desire. They have lots of drink and food specials both daily and monthly and free music too! I have been going to this place for about 5 years now and my husband and I love it, food is good and decent drink prices but for the first time we got treated like crap by this female bartender on 9/11/15. I don't know her name but she was skinny with dark hair in about her late 30s .She was so rude and didn't even walk our food to our table, rather she screamed over the music for us to come grab our food! Yet she walked other people's food right to them. I will be going back to this place but not if she is working the night we decide to go. If I see her there I will walk right out. I'm giving this place 3 stars only ( normally I would have gave them 5 stars) because they need to get rid of rude people like this lady. Everyone else is very friendly. read more

Paddy Mac's is a great neighborhood bar. Bartenders make sure they get your name and remember it the next time you go back. Live entertainment on Saturday nights is excellent. The regular crowd is great. Make sure you take a look at the menu and order, it is definitely not your typical "bar food." Your food is made to order, and be sure to try the "Spicy Chicken Sandwich," it is out of this world. The "Salmon Wrap" is an excellent choice for something on the "lighter side." Stop in on a Saturday, and have one of their bloody marys. Plenty of Flat Screen TV'S to watch the Blackhawks, Cubs, Bulls, Bears, and any of your college teams play. Well, my husband and I eat here because there is little else in the way of walkable eating establishments (seriously, business owners of Chicago, open some s*** out here along Montrose and Pulaski. Jebus!) However, lord knows we wish we had other options. The food is...well, it's food. 9 times out of 10 I forget to tell the bartender to make sure they don't put BBQ sauce on the burger--because, really?!? I have to remember that? Who does that?--but even so, if I remember, chances are the bun will be stale, or the burger will be cooked to a puck-like state. Fact is, it's all just sub-par and only accepted because the area is a lacking in anything resembling a good corner bar and grill. The beer has really improved over the years. So there's that. But what really chaps my ass, what really just makes me crazy, is the complete lack of knowledge in bar service. The bartenders are (Cept a lovely lady that waited on us a few times over the years. Hey Miss, we talked dryers...You were awesome! Where'd ya go?!) AWFUL. I've seen some bad service, but this place just pisses me off on a visceral level. Regularly (my fault, I know) Bartending: It's a hard job, it's a fun job, it's a rewarding job, it's frustrating job, but it's a MotherF*king job! Do it! And do it right. Hold your liquor if you drink. Wait on people, be respectful, be timely, be aware, and above all read your room and your crowd. This place just pisses me off over and over. When I walk in on a quiet weekday night, after work, for dinner and...the bartender is plastered, the music is blaring at 6:30, there are two other people in the place and I can't seem to get any service, I sit there wondering why I don't just order in. If making a living waiting on 7-8 people a night is plausible and all you need, well, good for you. Guess I'm bitter because I'm trapped by locale. If something opens that understands these concepts, I will wear a sandwich board on the street to get business. But in all honesty, open a Bar and Grill out here that knows what they are doing, and I won't have to. read more
