This place was very low key but very offered a great atmosphere. Though it is a restaurant and bar it is designed a bit more like a lounge with low couches, low tables. The area near the bar did offer high tables. It is rather small compared to other places but I loved that it was like a little nook because it felt more intimate and comfy- the low lighting is a plus. The food was delicious, the drinks were well balanced and the service was great. Definitely check this place out, I will be back. read more

A locals gem! I have been twice and each time the food is amazing. It is tapas, so order a few plates and share around the table, get some drinks and unwind for dinner. They are open from 5-12 everyday. I have heard from friends that it is the place to go when the other restaurants close. All the restaurant staff and locals go after a hard day's work and enjoy a few bites and good drinks. They have rotating beer specials and a fun bar. We had Korean beef lettuce wraps, fennel and sausage, the Mahi special and ended with crem brulee. It was just picking up as we left. read more

Great service, amazing ambience, great drinks, food was average. Maybe it was just our selections, but everything was bland and basic. Avoid the charcuterie tray. Only a few small pieces of bread for meet and cheese/no crackers. Meat and cheese average, and pickled items were hit/miss mostly miss. Will go back and try other food items or just go for drinks. After paying $83 for an unsatisfying 4 tapas and two glasses of ice tea, I feel compelled to illustrate a few of Pacifica's failings. Let's start with the good. The hosts and the waitress were absolutely delightful. They were bubbly and engaging and explained how tapas 'work' (i.e. the individual selections come to the table as they are prepared and not in a particular order). The decor was lovely. Surfboards on the walls, wine and liquor bottles positioned above their titles on the wall, outdoor patio and an indoor dining area that magically seemed to meld into one while being completely separated. Whoever designed this restaurant is a genius. If I could stop here, Pacifica would be well-deserving of a 5-star rating. Unfortunately, the food has to stand on its own. The Smoky Pork BBQ sliders were good, but it was merely pulled pork. There was no hint of the Carolina BBQ that the waitress mentioned. The description mention pimento cheese on the sliders, but I only know it was pimento cheese because of the description and not the taste. The French Onion Dip was confusing at best. The description: "caviar, French fries". It was literally 6 heavily smoked potato wedges with a dollop of a creamy dip, topped with caviar. If a menu item is smoked, that should be part of the description. This was, what I assume to be, a version of French onion dip on top of potato wedges. I liked it and would order it again, but the description was entirely confusing. My girlfriend doesn't like smokey food, so should took one bite and passed the rest to me. The charcuterie board was $32 for three types of meat, three types of cheese (one of which was completely inedible) and half the tray was mildly pickled vegetables; beets, cauliflower, carrots, string beans, onions, and pickles. The pickles were far and above the WORST. They reminded me of sweet n sour pickles that had gone bad. For the charcuterie board, there were two prices 17/32. The waitress explained, after we were brought the bill, that the $17 version was for either meat OR cheese and that since we got both, it was $32. I feel ripped off. This restaurant is trying way too hard to be hip and edgy. Fix your menu descriptions to accurately describe your food and cut your prices. That meal was not worth $83. Again, if the food were as great as the service and the decor, you'd have a genuine hit. As it is, I'd consider it a swing and a miss. read more

Nice restaurant in walking distance to the Holiday Inn, North End. I love Tapas restaurants because you don't leave feeling too full. This place was very intimate, and casual. This is a social type place, no background music, just dialogue. It's not very big, so although it is intimate, it's not completely private. I.e. It was very noticeable to us, the couple next to us, rubbing each other under the table. lol oops We ordered Blackened Mahi, Cheese & Charcuterie Board, and Pork & Ginger or Vegetable Potstickers. Mahi was great the Potstickers was awesome, but the Charcuterie Board missed the mark for me. We didn't know what meat and cheeses were on the board, and had to ask the server. Overall I had a good night, but the food missed the mark for me, and seemed a bit expensive. read more

Love the new location. Beach vibe with reggae music. Went in on a Thursday evening and sat at the bar. They had an extensive cocktail menu with fancy ingredients. Wowza this food was unique and made my taste buds dance. I ordered the food to go and the lady at the register was new but I assume she went and got the manager and let me just tell you that lady was so incredibly nice they both were that manager really just did such a great job she was amazing. We had the pork belly, BLTs sliders and oh my gosh those were so fresh. We also had the pork dumplings and the flatbread of the day. It was all so filling and absolutely delicious. This is one of those "tiny plate" places, with no actual entrees, you just order a bunch of overpriced tiny plates. My wife and I came here on a date night, the food was okay, but not great. We were with a group of friends. We ordered the $34 charcuterie board, which was a joke, a few other items and some drinks. Our bill was $178 for two people and we left hungry. Needless to say we won't be back. The next weekend, I made a charcuterie board at home and had the same people over. We joked about how much better the one I made was and how we'll never return to that restaurant. read more

My wife and I go to Pacifica a few times each year because we like to try out the menu for each season. So last night for our Anniversary I think we ate 1/3 of the fall menu...LOL. Of course the food was wonderful as always. I can truly say I have NEVER had anything I didn't love!! Last night I had 3 small plates the Duck paired with fennel onions and a smoked pear, the brussel sprouts, and Baba Ghanoush hummus I would eat that meal anytime and enjoy it the same. Everything had great flavor duck cooked perfectly. The thing I like about Pacifica more than the food is the staff always friendly and super knowledgeable about the food the most important thing they show they want to be there!!! When my date and I arrived we sat down across from the bar and waited about 5 minutes before having to get a menu off the bar myself. We perused the menus for several minutes and after both of us decided on what appetizer and beverage we wanted, no staff had acknowledged our presence. My date asked the host if the tables we were at would receive any attention from a server and he said we would. After another 5 minutes my date advised the host that no one had come to us or acknowledge us, so the host went to get a bartender from behind the bar. The bar tender explained they were busy and apologized, which was not true because at least twice I saw 1 or all three bartenders in their own thoughts and just standing behind the bar waiting for the next person to get their attention at the bar. The drinks and food came out at a reasonable time and were excellent to say the least. After we finished, we sat around for a bit chatting, where my date had noticed our server visit the table behind us several times and not ours, so while he was visiting that table I paid the tab and we left. I'm not sure why, we got a lack of service but from the vibe we got, its exactly why we avoid the oceanfront even though we went to a neighboring establishment and received overwhelmingly great service. The vibe we got is this is a locals bar, with a side of Virginia Beach pretentiousness. The host and the food runner were extremely pleasant and I wish I could say the same for the bartenders/servers that either never looked our way or ignored us since we weren't directly at the bar(the side we were on was not crowded). read more

Service has declined since moving. We sat for 20 minutes until the hostess recognized we had not been helped and brought us water. Tried out the new Pacifica Tapas restaurant. The food was delicious, ESPECIALLY the pig ears drizzled in honey. A MUST have if you go there. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly. The prices are what you would expect for fine dining the beach. I do miss the ambiance of the old location and not being able to see the cooking was disappointing. But, if you had never been to the old restaurant, you would never know the difference. read more

A nice and lively spot right off the beach. We walked from the beach, but there's also a parking lot in front of the restaurant. It looks unassuming from the outside, but the inside is very cozy and has some cool, unique art. Food was good and we had fun trying a variety of dishes. In particular the blueberry dip for the fries was really interesting. I do wish the portions were larger, the ceviche we got was pretty tiny and I felt like not everyone was full at the end of the meal. read more

About 10 years ago, I gave this place a 5 star review. After that, we happily patronized Pacifica 20-30 times. It's been a couple years since our last visit. Sadly, I now have to revise it to 1 star. My wife and I are literally going to take a shower after this experience. We should have left after we noticed the smell of grease in the air. I guess the kitchen fan was broken. Now we smell like a greasy kitchen fan. Then we looked around and everything else seems to be in a state of decay as well. Granted, we were here on a Sunday night and maybe the regular staff was not there, but the waiter was clueless and the food was sub- Golden Corral. If that's the case, just do us all a favor and stay closed on Sunday instead of taking a $100 for our one date a month. ...Disappointing... read more

Came here for Valentine's dinner with my boyfriend for the first time. The charcuterie and cheese board was excellent and the martinis were great and relatively low priced. We also tried the pork tacos and the goat cheese and polenta balls, we were disappointed with them though as they didn't have much flavor. Our waitress was very nice and helpful but the bartender that was behind the bar and delivering drinks was hardly wearing a mask, not covering his mouth or nose even when at our table. read more

Best meal we had in va beach. We ordered two plates each and shared everything and it was more than enough food. I am a vegetarian and really wanted something not fried, and this was perfect. I was so sick of the heavy food I'd been eating all week. My favorite thing was the beet salad- normally I would call that rabbit food and not touch it, but it was delicious and not at all healthy-tasting. The veggie potstickers were fantastic and not greasy or too oily and the burrata caprese was perfect. Everything was super tasty but also fresh. I didn't try the meat dishes but I'm told the lamb chops were worth the 30 dollar price tag. Ambiance was just right - lively but not loud. We were able to carry on a conversation. We stopped in here for a late dinner earlier this week as we'd heard great things about Pacifica... We were not told it was more like a bar/party hang out. Which is fine. But it was rather loud and we were lucky to squeeze into two spots at the end of the bar. I ordered the Smoked Wings and the Snapper and Crab hush puppies, plus a Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. The wings had a nice smoky flavor/aspect to them - but I would have liked the skin to be crisper than it was. The hush puppies were rather average - they needed some seasoning - but the texture was good - nice and crisp on the outside. They really skimped on the dipping sauce for the hush puppies. Service was good. We were inside for about 35 minutes - when we came out I had a parking ticket on the windshield of my rental car. I was parked on the curb on the street - along with other vehicles. Come on - really? It's off season in Virginia Beach on a weeknight and I get a parking ticket? read more

Oh my! Pacifica you wowed me last night. I've driven by this spot countless times. I'll be honest, from the outside it looks like "just another Oceanfront restaurant" if you know what I mean. Then I would look at the menu online and think "oh great another over priced Oceanfront restaurant- damn tourists." Then I was invited here on a (first) date- what better way to find out if I'm compatible with someone than by seeing if our food preferences match. Sign me up, here we go! It wasn't overly crowded, but there were a few times that it got a little noisy. They seem to have a good crowd of regulars that visit frequently. We sat at the bar which made it extra entertaining. The bartender remembered faces and a few names. He was quick to customize the experience for everyone visiting. Playful banter, making up cocktails, and more. We shared five plates and it is so hard to pick a favorite. They were all phenomenal! It is my understanding that their menu changes seasonally so by the time you read this you may need to explore their new menu instead of going based on my recommendations. Smoked Poached Pear Salad- Um... could I love a salad more? I was blown away that the "smoked" flavor actually came through and it wasn't just a word on the menu. It wasn't over powering though. Goat Cheese & Olive Tapenade - I love both goat cheese and olive tapenade. This reminded me of a dish I used to get at one of my favorite spots when I was living in Atlanta. The bread was great, but they don't give you a whole lot of it. That means you shouldn't be afraid to load it up with the spreads. Potstickers- I wouldn't have ordered these if they hadn't been recommended. I would have missed out!! We got the pork ones. Holy flavor! I'm craving these the next day and might make a special trip back for them. What a surprise! *Magret Duck Breast- Can't go wrong with duck in my eyes. Cooked perfectly, flavorful. Pan-Seared Flat Iron- Wait that was blackberry on the bottom? Wow. I wouldn't have guessed, this was delicious just like the rest of the plates we ordered. I don't know what else to say! For the dessert we had the s'mores. I suspect the marshmallows may have been made in house or at least sourced from someone that isn't jet-puffed. I love a good s'more and it was fun to roast them over the tableside fire. Excellent service, some of the best food I've had at the Oceanfront. This is *not* just another Oceanfront restaurant, I'm sorry for judging you that way Pacifica. (And yes, the date was also fantastic. I certainly hope there will be a second, especially if he keeps bringing me to places like Pacifica. This is an excellent date night spot.) read more
