Wines by the glass, July 2026

It's so sad that Pacifica is closing at the end of the year. They've been in Del Mar for decades, and are a great place. Beautiful views, great menu selection, high quality ingredients, delicious creations and to notch service. At brunch today, two of us enjoyed a shared appetizer of Thai curried mussels, one steak and eggs, and one fra diavolo pasta. A marvelous meal. Our server, Evan, was so polished, professional, attentive while not intrusive, and most helpful. Get there while you still can, and ask for Evan!

Was going to go for a special occasion lunch to Monarch next door. Monarch doesn't take reservations but we figured we would try our luck. 6 people line out the door there. No thanks! Especially when the hostess at Pacifica had no line and the patio is gorgeous. Plus they have lunch specials which Monarch didn't seem to have - so you can get their Sugar-Spiced Salmon entree at lunchtime for only $20 - with that gorgeous ocean view! Our server was extremely nice, and we got a shaded table right at the glass looking out at the ocean. I decided to get a "brunch" dish - sugar spiced salmon hash with poached eggs, potatoes and fennel. It was a little heavy but very delicious. The salmon was perfectly grilled. And $20 at a posh restaurant like this looking out at the ocean was A-Ok with me. It's easy to sleep on Pacifica cuz it's been here so long and is not the next-new thing - but it's a great patio with great food and they're super nice! And parking was free and easy in the garage downstairs on a weekday lunch.

Had an early dinner on the outdoor patio with girlfriends on a Sunday. John was our server. He and the other wait staff were timely, good at making wine suggestions, answered our many questions and were very accommodating. The food and drinks came out quickly too! When it comes to the location and ambiance you can't beat it. Made me wonder why I don't come more often. We shared Brussels sprouts, oysters, and bread, beet salad, ahi nachos and 2 entrees amongst the 5 of us. There was no rush for us to leave and there were a lot of different menu selections.

Date night perfection at @pacificadelmar Del Mar From the butternut squash ravioli with poached lobster to the salmon over green beans, crispy calamari, and flavorful crab cakes--every bite was a win. Paired with a beautiful bottle of wine and finished strong with key lime pie and peanut butter pie A must for a special night out. Love the service it is soo amazing and love the atmosphere.

Usually enjoy this place for its location and casual dining. Girl at counter was great. However, wait over 30 minutes for a bowl of fruit and Açaí bowl that we had to ask about seems like an issue with communication. When food came out, seems pretty rushed in putting together.

Went here to Pacifica after finding out the place next door had a 2 hour wait. And I'm glad I did because I literally discovered some of the best 3$ tacos I've ever had. Went with the carne asada and grilled fish tacos and both were amazing full of flavor and not skimpy either. Also tried the crispy ahi rice thingy and really enjoyed that as well. View was also awesome and there was no wait and great servers. Will definitely be back!

I've been wanting to try this restaurant and finally made it to Del Mar. Food & drinks were delicious. We had the halibut plate & glazed salmon plates. For appetizers we enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Poke. Portion sizes were good. The atmosphere and view from the restaurant is so awesome. Before dark you can see the ocean. Make a reservation they get busy. We happened to stop here during Restaurant Week. Good specials. I wasn't crazy about the Cesar salad. But everything else was so good. If you're looking for fresh seafood, you have to try this restaurant it's so good.

Randomly walked in for lunch, and the food is absolutely amazing as well as the ocean views on the patio! Gabby was super sweet and professional and the manager as well works along with their staff. The food is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend everyone try this place. It's amazing.!

We had the place to ourselves on a Saturday for brunch. It was sort of sad to see because Monarch next door was packed. We were seated out on their covered patio with a beautiful view of the ocean. Our waitress was good though we did have to track her down a few times. The food was hit or miss. I thought the salmon hash was mediocre and the portion was on the small side. The Banana Foster French toast was good and was a huge portion.

The view was wonderful. Food was great. Waiters were very nice. The scallops were wonderful.

TL;DR: A gorgeous Del Mar spot overlooking the ocean with solid food. While parking is tight and there was a small kitchen mistake, our server handled it like an absolute pro, and the stunning views and friendly vibe make it worth visiting while it's still open. This is a really nice spot tucked into a cool plaza right in Del Mar. Like most of this area, parking is pretty limited, so you might need to hunt for a spot. We wanted to check it out after seeing them listed on the San Diego Restaurant Week site with a 3-course lunch deal for $30 a person, which felt like a great value. We got there right around opening when it wasn't packed yet, and the host let us pick any outdoor table we wanted. The patio seating is huge and super pretty, giving you a great view overlooking downtown Del Mar with the ocean sitting right in the background. For starters, we got the Caesar salad, which was good but could have used a little more dressing, and the Mulligatawny soup. The soup was really solid, and the chicken inside was super tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. For mains, I went with the Sugar Spiced Salmon and my girlfriend got the Grilled Fish Tacos. My salmon piece was on the smaller side, which makes sense for a discounted Restaurant Week menu, but it was cooked to a perfect medium and stayed super tender. The mashed potatoes and green beans on the side were good, though the veggies were a bit overly drenched in barbecue sauce for my taste. The fish tacos were tasty and came with chips and salsa, though the topping sauce tasted almost identical to Chick-fil-A sauce, which was good, but we kind of wished they hadn't put it directly on top. We did hit a small hiccup when I found a bit of blue towel fuzz mixed into my mashed potatoes. I'm really not one to make a huge fuss about stuff like that, but our server Mackenzie handled the situation insanely well. She was so genuinely apologetic even though it wasn't a huge deal to me. Since I didn't want the kitchen to remake the entire plate, and our promo let us pick drinks instead of dessert anyway, Mackenzie went out of her way to bring us a free creme brulee to make up for it. The creme brulee was fantastic, not too sweet at all, and the sugar crust wasn't burnt whatsoever. It's really sad to hear through reviews and local chatter that this spot might be closing down soon. Even with that hanging in the air, the staff still clearly cares and treats everyone with so much respect. If all their staff is as sweet as Mackenzie, it's definitely worth dropping by for brunch or dinner while you still can!

Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Food: 3/5 Got Halibut and Sticky rice in coconut curry sauce...They dont know how to handle the sticky rice (mushy)...fish was dry... This star is rated solely based on the food. For a fine dining, the food is subpar for the price.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS wonderful brunch spot with an amazing view of the ocean. I reserved using Open Table. They have a very nice brunch on Sundays. Our reservation was for 5 and then 3 others in our group decided that they wanted to participate. I couldn't change the reservation on open table so I called the restaurant. The gentleman who answered the phone was super understanding and added to our reservation and made it 8. Fast forward to the day of brunch and 2 people could not make it, so the manager was very kind enough to change our seating to fit 6. OUR TABLE WAS IN THE PERFECT SPOT! The view was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND EVERYTHING! Our server was Gabby, and she was amazing. She has these really cute earrings and she took great care of us. Her customer service was FIRST CLASS! Our party is used to bottomless mimosas and they do not have that here so we were able to ask the chef for two bottles of prosecco and sides of mimosa juices, a la carte. This worked out very well as we were able to pour how we wanted and not bother the staff for refills. The FOOD IS AMAZING HERE! The Chef definitely is top tier. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. We ordered: FOR THE TABLE: Brussels Sprouts in a honey glaze sauce with feta -FREAKING DELICIOUS! MEALS: Short Rib Hash over potatoes with a fried egg on top, Chicken Fries Steak Benedict (best meal ever), American Breakfast, and a Traditional Hash. One of our ladies was not hungry after the Brussels Sprouts appetizer. I ABSOLUTELY recommend this restaurant for brunch. There is also a Pacifica Café below with a nice view and patio seating. This is probably my new fave brunch spot. Gabby was wonderful, the manager was super customer service oriented, and the whole staff was First Class!

Ask the Community - Pacifica Del Mar

Allow dogs for outside seating?

Hi Andrew, our bar patio is dog friendly!

Do they still have happy hour?

Yes they do, at least M-Th and I believe it goes until 6:30pm. We went on a Wednesday a few weeks ago

Do they offer outside seating?

Typically , yes! Not sure now due to COVID restrictions.

How much does someone spend here if it's for 2 people?

Right now, nothing, and we hope they re-open and succeed as soon as COVID is under control.

What are the hours of happy hour?

Everyday 4-6:30; All night Sunday & Monday

Do they still offer the early bird menu?

Hello, yes we are currently offering a new 3 for $30 tasting menu in celebration of our 30 year anniversary for our early bird menu. It is on our website if you'd like to preview it.

This restaurant showed up on a list for vegan options. Where are the vegan options? ...I do not see anything on the menu that specifies this

I wasn't looking for vegan options but if they have some, they are few. It's primarily a seafood restaurant.

Thank you Sanjiv for your invite. We will surely stop by next time we are in town. We appreciate you for commenting on our review. When is the best time to come in for Shrimp? Or is that all year round?

All year round!

I wonder if this is a location on eBird. Yes, I am a dork. I came here years ago while on a business trip and randomly found this place and loved it here. So when a date suggested we come here, I took a look at the venue and remembered what an awesome brewery this is! Date gets some brownie points for chosing this spot, maybe this could go somewhere haha. Parking is a situation here. But if you go past the restaurant, there is some parking on the road and in small lot meant for those enjoying nature. I felt bad taking one of these spots. There is paid public parking on the corner before the restaurant and valet is available at this brewery. I need to figure out another way to get here... On a Sunday afternoon, place had people but it wasnt mobbed. Baseball game and Del Mar horse races were showing on the TVs. But, don't come here to watch TV, look outside! I saw some very good bird action, including an egret doing some weird strutting in the lush greenery. I am bummed I forgot to bring my binoculars but I will be back here again soon with binocs ready! I started off with a hefeweisen and that was good, date had a Mexican lager x 2. I had the ceviche (pretty good) and had the aioli on the side. Date had a sandwich of some kind and copious amounts of fries. It took a lot of will power for me to not have any of those fries, they looked so yummy! I also had a watermelon beer, this had hints of watermelon flavor and I enjoyed it. Great spot for large groups too as there were a few large parties sitting in the "outside" space. Hostess initially asked if we wanted to sit "inside" or "outside," and I was confused as it all looked like outside to me haha. I guess this is SoCal, everything is open air. This is a nice spot to have convo, very spacious, lots of nice tables, we sat at a high top. I love perching higher up, kinda of like a bird haha! Waitresses here were all very good, some very cute too (eye candy is always appreciated). Overall, a really fun way to spend a Sunday summer afternoon! I'll be back!

The ambience of the place is cozy, modern, and eclectic with its tree like lamps and greenery throughout. The bar is located in the middle of SkyDeck,, so you can order from the many different surrounding restaurants straight from the app, which they'll serve to you at the table. Understory is known for their specialty cocktails with their full bar, that's hard to miss as soon as you walk in. Of course, I had to get the drink in the ceramic elephant. Not only was it decked out with a flower, dried fruit, fruits, and mint leaves looking fabulous, it also tasted amazing and it was pretty strong, which I liked. All of us at the table ordered a drink, and everyone seem to love theirs. Got the taste of the blue moon, which had a unique flavor that I loved. All the drinks were beautiful. Since Understory is a bar, their tables are round and small, so when we ordered food from their neighboring restaurants, the table was a bit small, and we had to get creative on where to place everything. The tables are also far from the seats, so it was a bit of a challenge to eat our meals. The place is definitely one to visit, but what I would recommend, if you're wanting a full dinner, is to get your drinks at Understory, to enjoy the ambience and appreciate the creative craft cocktails, then switch to the restaurant you'd like to eat at, where the tables are designed to accommodate the space you need for a full meal.
