Changing my rating since getting through to the repair department, repairman came out and fixed the problem

We are stuck in a contract with them that they refuse to renegotiate. We signed on shortly before the pandemic and our organization changed radically. They won't renegotiate. We have a copier that we don't want, don't need, and doesn't work. read more

Very disappointing experience. Many hidden costs not revealed at the sale. A local competitor said they could give better service at less than half the cost. If I could give them 0 stars I would. the woman that answered the phone was automatically annoyed, our entire law office is down because we didnt get a toner collection box that they were SUPPOSED to have already sent us. When I called again she was even more annoyed. when I matched her rude energy . she hung up the phone. so try and figure out what you need to get done online, because the people working there, don't want to be there. read more

If I could do 0 stars I would. To start this story, we had a rep come into our office every day for months trying to get us to sign with their company. The company I work for eventually signed up for their phone service. That rep hasn't been back into our company since we signed and seemingly disappeared. Billing alone is impossible to deal with - no one at our company was informed that price increases happen yearly. This lead to a multi-month dispute before anyone finally told us the increase was "in the contract". The late fees accrue even if you pay early/on time because their billing office is across the country, so who knows how long it will take them to receive it. If they don't receive a check by the first you have to pay extra. Regardless if the date shows you paid a week in advance to the due date. They surprised us with overage bills that went unpaid because it seemed like an error at first. No one knew we would have to pay overages in addition to the $437 per month. You pay your monthly balance to Philadelphia, PA and your overage fees to Los Angeles, CA. The main overage charge is "Incoming toll-free call overages" (What??) anywhere between $10-$35 extra per month. That includes 35% tax for some reason. The phone in my office randomly restarts about 3x a week and is unable to be used while doing so. I've been in the middle of answering the phone when this has happened. We also have 2 phones sitting unused because they won't link up to our system. We caught them lying a couple times - first they hadn't received the check we sent 19 days ago. When we reviewed our bank statements it showed they had received and cashed the check already. When presented with this information they basically said "Ohhh yeah.... we deposited it today actually." After further digging we found the check had cleared our bank 4 days earlier than they said. They still declined our request for late fee removal and suggested ACH payments. Yeah, right! That would leave 0 paper trail for our company and they've already shown to be unreliable in correct billing. We would have no way to approve they are charging us the correct amount. We have 30 days terms to pay their bill. We've had to remind them of this repeatedly because bills get sent anywhere between 2-5 days later than they were issued. I got the invoice dated 7/1 on 7/3. That's 28 day terms. There was an error with the bill so I sent a case request confirmed on 7/3 at 3:35pm. I didn't hear back until 7/13 at 8:41am. That's now 17 day terms. Ridiculous. (The error was a late fee we shouldn't have had because our check was issued 5 days prior to the due date. It took 10 days for them to deny it being an error.) When our manager asked to terminate the contact, we were told "Our contract will automatically be finalized after the last payment and end date of 2027/04/29." Almost 2 more years of dealing with this??? I could not recommend a DIFFERENT company more. Please do not fall into this trap. They aren't local, they aren't helpful, and they will actively predate on your company. read more

A technician was called out to install a job separator on a Riso SF5130 digital duplicator. He installed it and then said he was not certified in Riso SF digital duplicators and did not know how to make it work. I was charged initially $400 then they reduced it to $250 since i complained. I still have not been able to get it to work and will try the company one more time and would like to change this review to higher stars if they can get it to work. read more

I have been with POA for more than 10 years. Throughout my accounts with them, they are quick to make the sale but slow to deliver, and the service has been difficult. We are in the process of closing out our account, and we signed and took possession of our latest upgrade on 9/10/2019. It was a 60-month term, but because of their slow responses to things, they did not start the updated charges for another 5 months. So now we are stuck for 14 months instead of 9! Legal is reviewing as we speak! Shady business practices! There are many many stories of mishandling our account including parts that were ordered in August and by Dec still not delivered just to find out they were never ordered even though as I called in to check the status I was told that they were on their way! If you are a small business, please reconsider working with them! read more

The only reason this isn't a 1-star or 0-star is because of Joey who has serviced our machines for years. Kudos to him for sticking it out with this company. I would not recommend this company for copier machine service. EVERY time we order toner it either takes two weeks to receive or we receive the same wrong toner. So, then it takes another week to receive the right toner. When our machines were set up in our office, the account rep set up pinpoint scan for us. We've recently hired new employees, so an email request was sent asking for someone to come help add the new employees so they can scan. They claim it is now an IT network issue that our IT people need to do. Our IT people did not set it up. So, they sent one of their IT people to do it. Phone in hand looking for instructions, he couldn't figure it out. He later informed us we wouldn't be charged for his visit. (what?!) The latest interaction was an email service request was sent because we keep getting error messages on one of our machines, which causes us to turn the machine off. A service person came over yesterday, did some sort of upgrade to the machines software (firmware?) and guess what...we came in to an error message on the same machine today. We've been waiting for over a week now for a support tech. We are a major corporation that invests thousands of dollars a year in leasing, service, and support. We don't ask for anything special, just what any customer should expect: reasonable quality service. We've made numerous calls in attempts to find out a status, and when I called back today I was told that the tech was just dispatched and is on his way. I guess better late than never. If I could give it 0 stars- I would. We tried getting out of our 5 year lease- as the price continued to go up each month for such little volume. We were quoted roughly $4k halfway through.. eeeek. Finally, 5 years is up! And now we are still dealing with the equipment. We were given 2 options- full service pickup or we could drop off! Pick up was $974- they need a semi truck apparently! So after emails and calls- I was told- no you can do a drop off- perfect! We are in Tualatin, OR- Nearest drop off was Oceanside, CA. Cool. Now we are told.. ohhhhh well you can just buy the equipment for $400. An absolute scam one way or another. The techs that came out- most were cool- some were downright rude. I am now using my home printer/copier for our PT clinic. Works better than all the interruptions that Pacific Office printer caused. Super shady. read more

We plan to file a compliant with the Oregon Attorney General and also file a lawsuit against this company. That should be enough information to caution anyone to do business with Pacific Office Automation. Do not sign anything with this company. I am the Executive Director for a Portland-based arts nonprofit. A copier pre-existed my time here. When reviewing the budget, I was shocked at the monthly copier bill--and talked with a service representative, Andrew Love. He sweettalked and said, "it's only high because you have the color printing option turned on." He brought a new copier and had our office manager sign what he said was simply acknowledgement of the delivery. That piece of paper was a 60 month lease. One, she does not have authority to sign anything legally-binding for the organization--and, two, it was not presented as a 60-month lease! When we requested to have the equipment removed, they ghosted. Vanished. No responses. That was five months ago. A month ago, I reached someone on the phone, Jordan Acree, and he tried to explain why we owe $20,000 (on a retail $5000 copier). I told him I want to see our lease in writing. That was three weeks ago. No further correspondence, but bills keep coming. Reading the other reviews, this is a clear pattern of purposeful deceit. read more

Customer service is terrible. There's little to no communication regarding the delivery/installation of machines. Their technical support is almost non-existent. In 2017 a volunteer signed an agreement with Pacific Office for a photocopier for our non-profit food bank, during the pandemic they "auto-renewed" the contract. Here we are in 2022 still paying for the copier that will cost nearly $1800 to keep or pay them $250 AND pay to ship said copier somewhere for upwards of $1000. Oh, but to get a lower monthly rate, because we are a non-profit, we can "upgrade" to a newer copier. Apparently anyone can enter your organization into a lifetime agreement with Pacific Office that you will never be financially able to get out of. Their contract states it is not subject to cancellation. If I could give them -5 stars I would because I wasn't aware that office equipment "leasing" was akin to legal racketeering until dealing with this company. read more

Do not lease equipment through this company! I have been trying to return my copier since March of 2022 and have gotten the proverbial run around. I was told that an early return was not possible even though the contract says otherwise. I was happy to pay the remaining lease payments but was advised in writing that this was not an option and that I was required to purchase the equipment to end the lease early! I provided the required notice and am now having to hire an attorney to pursue the company. I am happy to share the many emails between myself and this company as anyone who reads them will see that this is an extremely shady company who does not honor their contract and will try to avoid allowing you to return equipment. My situation with Pacific Automation in Beaverton has been HORRIBLE. I am a small female owned business. In 2021 my business was booming and I needed a larger printer to meet my capacity. The sales representative, Ethan Faust, came to my house to discuss the options. We were told that the cost would be $386/month for a 5-year lease. We asked if that price would stay the same and we were told yes. My printer fee has increased every year since 2021. When I called Ethan in February of 2022 he told me, "I work for a great company that gives us all a raise each year. The price of our printer lease goes up by 6% each year to cover those raises." At this point in year 5, I will be paying over $700 a month for a printer that I no longer need as my business has turned virtual. To get out of this lease I will have to pay $16,183 to return the printer and $17,883 to keep the printer. They claim to be a small business solutions provider. Their contract is smart. No oral conversations can be entered into a trial. Only the written contract is viable. So, they send their sales reps out to small businesses, lie to them verbally knowing that there will be no recourse. Ethan is now a manager. He met all of his quotas. By the time this 5-years prison sentence is up, I will have paid over $25,000 for this lease. read more

If I could give a negative star I would. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. SO many problems. There has been nothing but deceit, inconvenience and additional hidden costs since the beginning. Here's a few: Bait & switch: I was very clear that I wanted to pay no more than $100/mo. since I had just purchased a desktop copier. I have now been paying much more than that due to a separate "usage" bill. This is not at all what I wanted. I was very clear what my goals and budget was from the very first time we spoke. Then, the copier that I rec'd never worked properly. I arranged for the lease in order to work on a project of scanning our paper files so that I could fully go to a paperless office. However, because of the numerous "down" times when this copier didn't work, couldn't connect etc. I have not been able to complete this project. I had to pay an IT company over $1200 to "hard wire" this copier (I was never told that this would need to be done). I also had to pay my admin for time in which she was simply sitting and waiting on the repair dept. to respond. Sometimes this process would take more than a day even though I was told responses would be within hours. I finally had to let her go and STILL have been unable to complete my project. Back to the issue of a totally separate company (whose name I was not given) who bills for "usage". A charge showed up on my credit card under a bogus name (no phone # or web site) so I had to cancel my credit card and then call all of my creditors for whom I pay by credit card as I thought I had been breached. Not just a nuisance but the cost of hours of my time to facilitate giving the new credit card number to all companies I do business with. Come to find out this is a 3rd party that POA uses to collect per copy or scan! There's also another monthly cost of $18 for "insurance" that I wasn't informed about. Since this lease has been a complete disaster that has cost me thousands of dollars above and beyond it's cost. Lindsay Matthews Roll said to send her my costs and she would see about reimbursing me. I have sent the info and have waited but nothing was forthcoming. So I decided I just wanted POA to pick up the machine so that I can cut my losses. What came next was even MORE shocking. She stated that in order to do an early termination I would have to buy out the lease and then purchase the machine! I don't even want to lease this machine much less own it!! What a nightmare. Since I responded to that email in Feb. 2021 I have heard nothing and it's the end of April. I can't warn you enough....do NOT do business with this horrible company! read more

When it came time to review/renew our POA contract, I was given a quote. When I mentioned that I was going to get quotes from other companies, the complete 'friendly, helpful' tone changed. I did find a company with better machines, at a significant savings. I called POA to let them know we wouldn't be renewing our contract and was challenged with "who is it?" (none of his business) "what did they offer?" (same) "why can't I have a chance to beat their offer?" (because you 'supposedly' gave me your best deal previously). I went on to explain that I went on yelp and read the reviews and that was a major factor in my decision. I was told that "Yelp is great for restaurants, but shouldn't be used for real companies" - yeah, ok. I felt like I was buying a used car. I'm now with another company that provided better copiers, at a 65% savings. We called for service and they were here within 30 minutes. Impressive! This is a horrible company to contract with. Read the fine print of your contract. If you don't contact them within 90 days of the end of your contract, they will automatically renew it for a year. And if you try to break out of that, they gouge you for more than what the machine is worth. A 5 year agreement was signed before I came on board, I was not notified of this automatic extension, and now I'm stuck either paying over $6,000 to break the contract, or pay $290/month for another 12 months before I can go with a better choice. Terrible, terrible, terrible. We bought a Duplo Collator from the Boise, Idaho location and it was nightmare. Zero communication and zero knowledge of the product they sold me. Creepy salesmen with the old bait and switch technique. The unit arrived damaged with big dent on the side. We mentioned it several times and they refused to address it or offer us a discount. They were like the three stooges here trying to unload and set up the machine only there was five of them! None of them knew anything about it or had ever set one up before. Duplo had to send out another dealer to set it up and train us. That's when we found out that the stacking unit was not included. That was another $12,500. Luckily the new dealer who was training us sold it to us and installed it. He was amazing. Jeff with Printing Repair Service, Inc out of Salt Lake City. Lastly they told us the lease agreement was 60 months and when we got the contract it was 63. We called them on it, but they would not budge, so I just paid cash for it. After I posted my previous review in November, my account manager Ethan finally reached out to me and after I hounded him multiple times, he gave me the information that Pacific Office lost one of our previous machines that was supposed to be returned and we paid on this for 5 years! Ethan stated to me the following " We have been unable to find the other machine and are willing to pay whatever fee Ricoh is requesting to "purchase" the machine. He and our marketing team asked if you would be willing to remove the 1 Star review that you left last week. If we can help get this squared away financially, would you be comfortable removing that review from the BBB?" I told him that I would love to come up with a plan to remedy this situation and yes I'd be willing to update/remove the reviews afterwards. We agreed that to settle the account we would be reimbursed $14,838.25. I reached out on November 30th for an update and was told there would be an answer in the next week. No answer came, I reached out again December 7th, no response. I reached out December 11th, I was told there would be an answer that day. By December 27th, I had still yet to get an answer or update and I reached out again, to get no response. December 28th, I reached out AGAIN, I was told on December 29th that "Yes, we will be paying you back for the bills that you received and continued to pay on over the lease expiration. We should be able to have this processed for you by next Thursday." Thursday came and went and I did not get any update. I reached out Jan 8th, of course no response. It is now Jan 9th, I have reached out again, so far, no response. This is the worst treatment myself and my company has ever received from a company. They want me to remove my bad reviews, yet continue to provide horrible service. PLEASE NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!! read more

We entered into a contract with POA hoping they would provide a solution for our 2 small businesses. Our needs are very basic. Right out of the gate we had trouble with the machine and after many, business interrupting, service calls their MO was to blame the wifi in our office. We replaced the machine with a much less expensive machine which works very well with the wifi in our office. The President of POA spoke with my business partner and promised a return phone call - we never heard from him. We are still trying to settle things with POA - had a to hire an attorney - sad. The machine is now in storage as POA would not pick it up saying "it belongs to the leasing company". So much for the "family owned", service oriented company we thought we were doing business with. Our office is based in northern Virginia. After calling three times throughout the day (from 10 am to 5 pm) and being promised each time to have someone in our office look at our broken printer within the hour, we ended up with a broken printer (still) by the end of the day, and no service technician in sight. Again, I called the next morning, but it seems that POA does not provide service to formerly contracted customers. Poor customer service, as their office is based in Portland. for maintenance and toner ....Great sales pitch although he was high as a kite all was good when we called for toner they sent us some although we were told they would come out and put it in that never happened we also asked when they were going to do the maintenance that never happened after a year they had enough guts to send me another bill for $800 for another service contract of course I didn't pay it. Now 16 months after $3700 it doesn't work and getting the part is impossible getting them out here is a nightmare. RUN from Lexmark and Pacific office automation. I believe at one time they were a good company but success has destroyed them...So Sad!! OK so they came out to fix the broken part that I diagnosed they brought out another part and it was broken, after 30 minutes of trying to get it to work he told us he was going to warranty the part now the average person would think he was talking about the old part not the new one he couldn't get working oh no he meant he was charging us for the new part that didn't work but "don't worry" he wont charge us for the next new part because he's going to warranty the old new part ....WHAT????? I tried to explain to him that that was not the right way to explain it but he insisted I was going to pay for the broken part wow talk about dense. Long story long he's gone and my printer still doesn't work. PS I am in the service industry and was amazed at the lack of customer service training. read more

Absolute worst customer service I have ever received. I signed a contract for 2 machines, and had to call back 3 weeks later asking where my machines were. Finally got 1 delivered and told the 2nd was back ordered. 3 weeks later, I had to call again, and was told oops, we forgot to have you fill out a credit application. OK. Did that. 2 weeks later had to call again to find out, oops, I forgot to have you sign this one thing. OK. Did that. 2 weeks later, I have to call again to find out where my scanner is. Now they say that I have to purchase the scanner for $900 which was NOT my original contract. All of these problems, I had to call and find out myself. I would recommend working with anyone else other than POA. The lease agreement is filled with traps and they use them at the end of the lease to make it difficult to choose a different supplier. They have an auto renewal clause that you must cancel within a narrow window of between 60 and 120 days or it is not valid. Also if you cancel you are required to send the copier back at your expense and the send back location is in a different state--not the office near your location where the salesperson is located. when asked for the send back address in advance the leasing company refused to give it out and they hid behind some policy. They also build in annual increases that are not very well explained upfront. There are a lot of better options out there!!! read more

As an administrative assistant for an office of less than 20 people, I chose Pacific Office because they appeared to be a local company with very reliable service. Our old company would take weeks to ship in a part for our old copier and we'd be without printing and copying during that time. While Pacific Office is prompt with most service needs, there are many issues that I regret choosing them. 1. POA uses a company on the east coast to collect payment. This means they mail an invoice and we mail back a check, a process that takes so long that we've incurred late fees several times in the first 10 months of the contract. We are a small company and prefer a paper trail. I've called this east coast company (not POA) to insist that our payments are not late and their advice is to use automatic debits, they refused to credit back any late fees. We are not late on payments, checks are sent within 1 week of receiving an invoice. If POA used a Portland company, we likely would not have this issue. I feel like they misrepresent their local image. 2. We are a small non-profit and we really didn't know how much printing we do a month when looking into their service. We are closed several weeks a year so we have heavier times and lighter times. POA uses a monthly counter and we've been consistently over our contract agreement for maximum pages printed, both color and B&W. They bill us for hundreds of dollars in overages each month. I've inquired about changing the monthly amount we're allowed as we don't go through toner or maintenance at the rate they are charging us. Their response has been that we use the machine more so they have higher maintenance costs. I feel like they did a poor job estimating how much we might use the machine and now we're stuck paying far more than we agreed to in the contract. I feel tricked by POA. 3. Large files (like high-res pictures) take a long time to send to the copier and finally print, like, half an hour. POA was not very helpful in resolving this issue and we still wait for large files or spend time modifying the file size. 4. If your toner collection unit is full, you cannot replace it on your own (perhaps depending on which machine you have). POA classifies this piece differently than toner so you must request a technician to come and replace it, creating unnecessary down time of the machine. They will claim it's the manufacturer's rules etc. but it seems like an easy for them to claim more service needs when I can easily replace the bin myself. Buyer beware. read more

This company provides horrible, horrible, horrible service. Avoid signing a contract with them at all costs. Once you sign a contract with them you will be stuck with them and they will screw you over in any way that they can. They put disclaimers and small print into their contracts that give you absolutely zero ability to get out of a contract. We had to take over a contract from a business we purchasedu and it has been the biggest headache in the world. Paying $600/month for an outdated copier, the cost is so high because when a machine starts to malfunction near the end of the contract they roll the remainder of the contract into a new one and charge you a greater monthly fee. Their customer service is awful. We just replace the $600/month machine with one that smaller and less expansive for $300/month. Well for the last two months they want us to pay for both contracts, even though they have already removed the old machine. We can't stop paying for it until our new contract is "approved" and we won't be "approved" until we pay the months of the old contract. (To clarify- These are months AFTER the machine was removed from our business). I would never do business with this company again, and it will be such a huge relief once our contract is over. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They came into our office and took advantage of the fact that we were all newer employees and hadn't been with the company when we signed our original copier lease. They LIED to us and told us our copier leases were up when they were not! They also told us that that our current copiers were owned by them when they were not! They were trying to poach us from Copytronix our current lease-holders. They made up false statistics regarding our copier usage and promised us lower monthly payment. They planned to pick up our copiers today (which they didn't even own) and replace them with new copiers. We would have been stuck paying them and our old lease for two more years (the remainder of our current lease). Plus we may have had to pay for the STOLEN copiers. Luckily we were alerted by Copytronix before they delivered the copiers. This is completely unethical and almost unbelievable! I plan to tell everyone I know! SAVE YOURSELF AND YOUR COMPANY! We are a non-profit. If they are willing to do this to us, they will do it to anyone! read more

We have a lease through POA for a production laser printer (digital press) and our service has been really good. When there is a problem with the machine our tech (Bob) is there the next morning (we are about 2 hours south of their Beaverton office). Our account managers have been really good also. Jeff Lee was our account rep until he had to leave the company for some family issues, but we continue to have very fast, responsive support when we need it. We liked it so much we got rid of our old copiers and printers and leased those through POA too! We are approaching the end of our lease (3 yrs) and are getting a good deal on an updated model. We are quite satisfied with POA and I've recommended them to others! Thanks! read more

Renting your machines for nearly a year, the experience has been particularly bad, let me feel that your company has been lying, do not care about the customer's feelings, when signing the contract is a new machine, but it turned out to be a broken old machine. As a professional who has spent some time in Information Technology, and tech support in specific, I can safely say that Pacific Office Automation (aka POA) is the most incompetent "technical support" company I have EVER dealt with. The reasons are innumerable at this point (5 years of personally dealing with their B.S.), but let me paint you a very specific example that is currently happening right now (August 11th, 2016): My company and I are attempting to get copies of all our contracts with POA - we unfortunately had an accountant/HR professional who signed contracts with POA, and then abruptly left our company w/little to no records on what she did - and POA are literally incapable of telling us what we are paying them monthly for. They apparently have no method for record keeping for their own clients. (let me remind you, this is a "technology" company) In addition to not even knowing what we are paying them for, POA collections is harassing our accountant about a new copier contract that was signed in November of 2015, past due for $257, SIGNED WITH A DIFFERENT ORGANIZATION. My company never signed this contract and it is not a contract with us, BUT POA REFUSES TO CALL THE COMPANY WITH WHOM THEY HAVE A PAST DUE CONTRACT (despite us providing POA with their contact information). POA collections are telling us that they will call us - once again, not our contract, not our signatures, not our problem - until they receive payment. This is only the latest example of Pacific Office Automation's malfeasance and utter incompetence that has plagued my company for years. It's unfortunate that no Millennials in the company (we're very small) were involved in finding a tech company, because literally 0% of Millennials who know anything about computers would ever suggest or recommend this lousy company. TL;DR: If you are a Baby Boomer who knows nothing about computers and don't mind vague contracts that will continue into perpetuity, then maaaaybe Pacific Office Automation is for you. Me, personally? I'm on a one-man wrecking crew telling everyone I can to stay away from this absolutely incompetent company filled with kids who think they're smart and know what they're doing - but actually do not. read more

Its bad to find out that in the fine print you get a bill will increase each year not to exceed 10% surcharge. What a crock to do this to companies. Very Poor ethics. read more
