Mark and Stephan were kind and extremely helpful. There were no high pressure sales tactics, Mark let me lead the way on what I wanted. I have hypermobile EDS so all my joints are garbage, and i recently slipped a disk in my back. My physical therapist recommended a memory foam bed and a zero gravity recliner. My sister and mom have degenerative disk disease, so they've been customers of relax the back down in Texas for years, so I knew to come here. I got a tempurpedic memory foam mattress with an adjustable base. They have new cooling memory foam mattresses now so we hopefully won't have to worry about overheating at night. The adjustable base lets me adjust the head, legs, and even lumbar support, and it's a split frame so my husband and I can have our own settings. It's going to be so good for both my back and my sleep apnea. I also got a humantouch zero gravity recliner with both heat and massage. My physical therapist said sitting on a squishy couch without proper back or neck support was not doing my body any favors, and this chair is a wonderful alternative. There were some issues getting financing set up with Synchrony but Mark patiently worked through all of them, calling the company and getting everything set up. This is the Go To place for chairs for back and neck pain, because of the knowledgeable staff. My fist visit here, Mark helped me. I came in for a kneeling chair, and told him about my car accident back and neck pains. The kneeling chair is the most affordable. Mark showed me a $4000 chair, which was comfortable, but not for my wallet. I bought the kneeling chair and brought it home. Maybe I was having too much fun rocking on it, and it triggered my whiplash. I had to see my doctor, and returned the chair within 2 days. No problem with returns! This time Stacy was there. I went over my whole car accident back and neck pain, and now whiplash. Stacy said she wouldn't have sold me the rocking kneeling chair. So I said, okay, I'm in so much pain, can you help me get this right? She showed me the $4000 chair. Sorry, it's too expensive. I felt like Goldilocks, trying out all the different chairs until we found one that was "Just right". I love this store, because it's like a shoe store, where the expert fits me to the chair, and adjusts it to fit me. I was so relieved. Staci fitted me to the Navy blue X-Chair and put it in my car for me. Now I'm out of excruciating pain, and am totally humbled by this experience. My experience here is the perfect reason why going into a store versus buying on Amazon or online is far superior option. My chiropractor recommended this neck stretcher, which he did direct me to Amazon. I decided I would try Relax the Back instead, and thankfully they did have it. I will say it was slightly more expensive than I saw on Amazon, However, the experience far out weighed the price. The two guy working here are obviously were passionate with their job. They were telling us about the best office chairs for your health, and then they let my husband and I sit in this amazing massage chair. No free massages would have been given had I purchased through Amazon. Ever since I discovered relax the back three months ago, I have been their loyal customer by purchasing a product from them once every few weeks, for a total of four products. Evidence is attached if you don't believe me. I went in there on Sunday to try out a potential purchase of a fifth product called the inversion table for 20 minutes based on my recent search results through Artificial Intelligence in order to make a wise purchasing decision; however, the sales rep, Alonzo, refused to let me try it out. In the past, they would allow me to use it for 3 to 4 minutes each time; however, that time was not enough for me to make my final purchasing decision. In the past, the representative, Mark, told me a few times that I have a torn ligament or tendon, as if I do not know how the body functions. I repeatedly told him that I have a Bachelors degree in Health Science, and I am a State Qualified Health Care Interpreter. In addition, I told him several times that I do not nor have never done heavy work, such as construction for my occupation, and I am not involved nor have I ever done any type of strenuous activity such as high impact sports. Ask yourself this question. Has anyone of you ever walked into a car dealership to be confronted with a Sales Representative that used pressure sales tactics by saying: "You only have three to four minutes to test drive a car! Otherwise, if you want more time, you must buy it!" From my experience working in retail, they always emphasized the important concept of: "Customer comes first." As a customer, I was highly unsatisfied with my experience with them. This incident and situation reminded me of the famous saying: "The last straw that broke the camels back." They say we are not a rehabilitation location; however, when you go on their website, there is a youtube video, and you will see a lay, Brandi Healy, who is a Retail Special Projects Representative at Relax the Back who states: "A lot of people think of Relax the Back as just a place for pain relief, but really we have been doing recovery for 35 years, and just calling it something different. So we have that expertise, that experience, that authority." Here is another statement by Ernest Benion Jr, Director of retail Sales and Training: "There is nothing really more powerful than seeing somebody walk in your store with pain, and after your time with them for 20 minutes, they walk out without pain." I believe that the human body was designed to be able to be healed of just about anything if treated properly both mentally and physically. I have had neck and back pain for many years. We have been in the market for a nice ergonomic chair and desk. Went to this location because the website said it was open. Parked the car and found the door was locked but sitting in a chair on the phone was a bearded blob. He got up walked over to the door and asked if we were going to "spend a lot of money". We looked at each a little bewildered like is this guy serious? He was. He laughed and waved while still talking on his cellphone. I learned a couple of things on this visit. 1. This is actually a franchised and locally owned store. The guy who I talked to there was wonderful and had me try out the options for a pillow that I wanted. He actually seeded me away from the more expensive version that I saw on the corporate website. How can you argue with someone selling less money to do the right thing. Woohoo!!, 2. They have tons of furniture, bedding, and all sorts of stuff to make sitting, sleeping, and living altogether more comfortable. The staff is very nice here. They let you take your time to try out the beds and don't do any hard sells like some other mattress stores. The downside is they don't have much if any inventory so if you order a bed it will take much more time than the big mattress stores. read more

I ordered an X2 chair online. Mark at the Clackamas store called to review my order with me. After discussing my needs, I realized that the X3 chair had the features I wanted. The X2 chair was going to take 2 to 3 weeks to ship to me. When I switched to the X3, Mark checked and found they had one in stock at their Beaverton store. He revised my invoice, and I drove to the Beaverton store and picked up my chair. With all the steel it has in it, It's the heaviest office chair I've ever seen, but it's built to last. Three years ago we bought a LUMA lift chair from the store in Bridgeport Village. It wasn't until recently that the lift function was critical for mobility. Last Sat. it quit working at 4am, fortunately while in a high-lift position. We learned that the Bridgeport store closed 2 years ago when we called this Relax The Back store in Beaverton. Mark's repair man was unavailable on a weekend, so he came personally after the store closed even though he hadn't sold the chair. It was a small problem and a quick fix but the level of kindness and customer service was humbling and deeply appreciated. The people in the store were very knowledgeable about the products, and patiently answered my questions while I tried all of the chairs on display. I have been in many Relax the Back stores through the years. Mostly, I have received good service. I was so disappointed in the poor service at the South West Cedar Hill Relax the Back store. I went with the intention to buy. The store clerk was one of the rudest I have had in recent history. He seemed not to want to answer questions and , even though there was no one in the store, ignored me when he found out I had come in to buy only $175 worth of product. Had fabulous service from Relax the Back staff. I ordered a chair with the fabric I wanted and a sit/stand desk for my home office. The chair arrived within 3 weeks as promised and the salesman delivered it and made sure it was set at the right height and comfort levels. A week later my desk arrived at the store and we made an appointment of when I'd be available. The same salesman and an assistant came on time (not something you get from every corner of the service industry) and spent a good hour assembling it, testing it and attaching the light I'd also just bought from them. They again had me sit in my new chair to ensure it was at the right ergonomic level. To put icing on the cake, they saw my "sad" desk chair in the front hallway that was headed for Goodwill. So, I went into this place looking for an inexpensive office chair for my home office. The salesman, Stu, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The chair I settled on was more expensive than I had expected to pay, but is so comfortable that I couldn't say no. They did have to order it (three weeks), and here is the best part- I went back in a week later, after my office chair had finally given up and the back broke off. Went to splurge on pillows for my husband and myself. Found a style I liked. They didn't have the 4" pillow to test, only the 3". The 3" worked for me, but it was recommended that we buy the larger pillow for my husband. So we did. Spent $240 on 2 pillows. Went home. Discovered in 5 minutes that it wasn't going to work for him. Tried to return the pillow, but was told that because the package was opened, they couldn't take a return. Argued for a bit. Then clerk said - "It's written right on the receipt". Yeah- like people read the tiny print at the bottom of receipts. The LEAST they could do is tell people up front WHILE PURCHASING, that returns on pillows are not accepted if opened. Grrrrrr!! I was told the manager was in the back on the phone and I could wait to talk to the manager. So I waited. And waited. They never came out of the back. Really???? My husband and I recently purchased two of the Human Touch Perfect Chairs from this store. What excellent customer service we received from the manager, Mark Szymanski! This is after saying I would never go into this store again after two very unpleasant interactions with the previous manager when we were looking to purchase a new bed. I wasn't really sold on a Perfect Chair to begin with, but my husband convinced me to go look at them and we could purchase elsewhere if we decided to get them. Mark was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions (and there were many!), and there was no "hard sell". Once the chairs were ordered, there was going to be a delay in getting the memory foam insert, but Mark made it happen by finding the inserts at another location. My fiancé and I 90 days ago went into the store and a man working there helped us pick out our new pillows. We were very excited about the pillows since we have never spent this much time or money figuring out what type of sleeper we were. I give it once star because the quality of the pillows are excellent! However I am giving no stars to customer service because 90 days later and tons of sleepless nights with neck pains we called to try to resolve the issue. Now understanding that they are used pillows, I understood there policy's on no returns. However, I expected more from a company that stands behind there products. We kept giving it more time to see if the pillows would get better, and then we even tried switching pillows. Nothing helps. Now we are going to give the pillows away and go out and buy new pillows. $250 dollars down the drain. The reason for the negative review is they didn't even offer us to come in and re look and the pillows that were given to us, or a discount on a set of new pillows, or a return just because we really tried to use these pillows and have had nothing but problems. The staff is nice, and just won't return because I don't like companies that don't stand behind there products or in this case maybe where there staff had steered us in the wrong direction..
