Parr is my go-to for many of my home projects. They do have a smaller branch close to me near the sunset Transit Center but I often find myself at the Hillsboro store. I've been coming here for many decades and they never disappoint. Locally owned and prices and stock is comparable to the big box stores. Staff is always very helpful, something you don't often get at the big box outlets. Very handy just off the Sunset Highway at Cornelius Pass. Ample parking. read more

I have had good service here in the past. Not today. I go into the store to buy multiple boxes of screws. I go up to buy, and they tell me they can't sell them to me, because they are closed. They said it was 5:07, and they close at 5:00. Well they let me in the store, why not let me know that I have to hurry up and buy stuff and not chase me away? I requested estimate for a solid order of $100K+ worth of lumber for a number of houses. I waited for more than two months just to get the estimate and never got it sent to me. I worked with Kyler Hoskins on that order and continuously reminded him. Looks like Kyler considers $100K order "too small" for his attention. Thank you guys very much! Coming here was very easy the people were all very pleasant to work with. My questions were all answered quickly and thoroughly, and the product I needed was in stock. Picking up 140 feet of baseboard in the pouring rain is never much fun. Ian out in the warehouse was absolutely wonderful to work with. Jacob and Jacee at the warehouse were totally awesome when it came time to load up and get me a on down the road. I would strongly suggest skipping the big box hardware stores where you get ignored for three hours looking for a simple part and focus your attention out here at Parr lumber. read more

I haven't bought anything yet, but I wanted to point out that they did help me by pointing me to another company. I'm updating my house and I'm looking for very opulent base board. Parr Lumber values customers - even those of us with small requests. In 2010, we remodeled our basement into an apartment. The apartment is turning over this month, and we needed to replace the screen on the bedroom exit window. I knew that our contractor had purchased the windows at Parr lumber because I had kept the receipt. I called Parr in North Portland and told them of my problem and was connected to Steve Willis. Steve took the time to get me a quote for replacing that screen. What made Steve exceptional is the patient, kind, and compassionate way he handled my request - a request that others might have considered a nuisance and an unwanted interruption to their already busy day. His attitude and follow through for a $16.50 window screen replacement was impressive. read more

We made a deck design appointment through there online booking system for 7-15 at 10:00 am. We received several confirmations and appointment reminders before going asking us to fill out deck design planner. We arrived day of on time only to be told the guy for the appointment was on vacation and sorry there was nothing they could do. No effort was made to try to contact us before the appointment or at the time find another location and re-book. So we sat in the car to call around to other Parr locations and found a nice man at the Forest Grove location to take care of us. In the end Parr lumber was not the problem but customer service at the Hillsboro location was severely lacking. read more

I went to Parr Lumber because a friend who is a contractor/builder recommended it. He also stated that he had an account there and that I could get a discount as his client. When I walked into the store, I was not recognized at all or offered any help. I was looking around for Base Boards but did not see any. When I asked for help the gentleman behind the counter pointed to the corner and said they were over there. After finding my way to "over there", I found the Base Boards I wanted. The sales man told me that they were not in stock but that he could order them and that they would be delivered to my house on Thursday. (He could not find the account to my contractor....even though I know he had an account there, I decided just to order them anyway without the discount). Well Thursday came and went and I did not hear from anyone. When I called about my order they did not know where it was. I was told that I had to talk to Connor as he was my sales rep. So Connor was out. I left a message and Connor called me back and still did not know where they were but that they should be delivered on Tuesday ( 5 days later and after a big snow storm). Still no Base Boards or call from Connor. I understand there may be delays due to the snow, but the customer service and communication is terrible. I still have no idea where my Boards are and have not heard from anyone after calling several times. I will cancel my order and just go to HomeDepot. I wanted to keep it local but totally not worth it. Very disappointed. I do not recommend this place. I would read all of the reviews before you decide to order from these people. read more

Parr Lumber is always a joy to work with, and this location is great as well. We are building a fence and have dealt with several people, all incredibly helpful, patient, and professional. Today we purchased all of the supplies for the fence and the purchase was easy and mostly painless. The prices are great too. I would love to tell you the name of the man who helped us, but I neglected to get it. Also, a special shout out to the guys in the yard. Hard job, awesome friendly service. They were even super careful and inspected the boards along with us to make sure they weren't warped. Final awesome thing? Free delivery on purchases over $300!! We live about an hour from Hillsboro and delivery is no problem! That Orange place wanted to charge $350 (minimum!) to deliver. read more

I went to the Parr lumber in Hillsboro off of Cornelius Pass rd because I am building a barn and wanted to drop off a materials list for the project which would be several thousand dollars (most likely over $10k) worth of lumber that needs to be purchased for the project, I received a voicemail later from the employee who said his name was Robert and he said that it was to much work to price out the list for my purchase. I thought that was odd so I dropped the list of to two other places that were happy to do business with me. I guess the employees there don't care about making their company money. They just lost a customer for life. read more

This is not the place for the homeowner, you pay high retail on everything, same products as box store. I ask if they had a certain James Hardie product, store manager says he knows everything about there products and that they don't make it! He is wrong told him to look on there website. Had to pick up product at there 185th and walker location. Everyone there is male and a mean person they can't talk to customers, they tell you everything wrong, they try to send you to a different location instead of ask the person you Actually talk to you on the phone that has the product you need instead of argue fight tell you you're wrong over and over. I went there on the weekend the first time they couldn't find it and told me I was wrong and it wasn't there. Went in again on a weekday different male same story I'm at the wrong location they don't have it before the idiot even asked the guy I'm asking for Finally after arguing with them they disappear in the back room and reappear with the product multiple people have told me they don't have it that location but for some reason they now have it. Male driven building that no one's been trained to talk to other humans respectfully. Don't send your wife to a place like this!!!!! read more

I spent ~$5k on a deck order, was delivered and everything seemed OK. I found a few boards that weren't straight and when I tried to exchange them they didn't have the size I needed in stock. Instead they sold me smaller boards and offered to give me a refund on the boards I was trying to exchange. I got a call a week later that they wouldn't return the boards because they weren't resalable. Well, obviously, that's why I was returning them, but they refused. It seemed silly to me to be hassled over a $100 of lumber when I just spent $5K in their store. It felt like they didn't care since I wasn't a big contractor - the customer service just wasn't there. I don't think I'll use Parr next time. Edit: After posting this review Parr contacted me, processed the return and apologized. So thanks! read more

Last summer, 2013, I bought over $1000 in fencing supplies from this Parr lumber. Their 8 foot long cedar fence boards were so flimsy, thinner, narrower and filled with bug bore holes. I went to Home Depot to buy more boards because of how many I had to throw out from Parr Lumber and was shocked at the difference. Home Depot's worst boards were better than Parr Lumber. I would never order fencing supplies from Parr Lumber again. read more

I bought some polyurethane patio covers from them about 8 yrs ago, and they are still as good as the day we bought them! The previous panels we purchased from Lowes and we had leaking and discoloration problems. Super nice and informative staff.
