Shiny. And today is buy brand, not buy to pass on to generations, homes, art, clothes, furniture - and tools. Brand replaces family values. In this context, we are talking tools, rented. You are renting, not passing on, or using extensively. You can go to another big box rental and get a clean branded machine. In rental, the durability and reliability of makers does not matter. If it fails, return for credit! Or you can buy failure-prone tools from China. Think Chicago Tools at Harbor Freight. I have noticed some contractors buy tools intent on destroying them in the warranty period or losing them - a perfect option in that inexpensive tools "business model is disposable". Just build it into the cost structure. But think, every material object-tool takes resources and carbon to make. Why landfill it or destroy after minimal use? Immoral, in my view, to buy it, trash it and landfill it. Another option is to buy used durable and reliable brand tools on the secondary market. Or if you use a tool often, or desire to pass it through generations, buy durable, reliable, quality. But if you need a tool infrequently or once upon a time, rent it! Yes, Barbur tools for rent are, well, well used. But they are not there for ego-stroking new and shiny, they are there to do a job. And yes, this rental place buys a tool and runs it into the ground. But if it works for you in the SW hood, I say go for it. Barbur rental has party supplies, think weddings; and tools. They have many of their items in an online list, but it is always a good idea to tour the yard and the tool room and get their paper list. Hey, you might find something you did not know you needed to rent, or that you might need in the future! I've mainly rented jackhammers and hammer drills with bits. I would suggest that you double check the bit chucks up before you leave. I rented a demolition hammer only to discover the bit had been peened out of usability on the chuck side. If it's your own tool, abuse it, whatever, but don't do that otherwise. And don't do to a rental tool. They did refund my money on that problem. I would say that barbur does not have the shiny, but limited selection, power tools the big box does. They have old, well used tools, to do your job. I know my tools, and know when Barbur is better than other options. You want to get the job done, not get your shiny ego massaged. So suggest know your tools and rent wisely when it is the best option.. Barbur does go down in the Portland Museum of Oddities list. The owner keeps his collection of big game head trophies on the wall. I asked, they don't rent them, but if you were a set decorator for a major film or series, maybe they would! We then called the manufacturers of the spray foam and they told us that Knez's spray foam that was installed, does not need 2hr fire code safety assembly. Watch out for these guys these guys they are unethical we are in the middle of filing a complaint with the CCB and then will pursue legal action. Watch out for Bart Stageberg he is the one who talked us into purchasing the spray foam instead of regular insulation. He has no idea what he's doing, lies about it and is very disorganized. We had to tear out all of the insulation in most of the walls and the entire ceiling. 1700 sq ft worth. I'll be adding pictures as proof as well. Their attorney is in my opinion one of the worst people to ever walk the face of the earth. If your looking for a rude, belligerent, jerk to work for you I would give Mark O Cottle a call.

We tried for a week and a half to deal with the foreman who had referred us on to their sheet rock repair person. Very frustrated I finally contacted the Tigard office and spoke with Chris. She was immediately very understanding and asked me to call Lacey who was in charge of the insulation work & Chris provided me her tele #. I called Lacey and she listened as I aired my frustration. She apologized and said it would be taken care of immediately. Talking to Lacey was like a breath of fresh air. Professional, apologetic & assuring. My ceiling was repaired within the week and it is beautiful. Lacey even called me back to make sure I was happy. I will continue to recommend Knez. Boards were okay, but again the caps were inferior, and after getting the highly annoying 'bing-bong' security camera warning about 4 times for my highly suspicious act of walking down an isle, I left happily empty handed. Mr. Plywood is a bit far from home, but I decided to venture there anyway. WHAT a difference! The boards I found are far superior in quality, and EXACTLY the same price as the big box stores. The post caps were the brand I was looking for, and $4.00 less per cap than I found them on line. When buying multiples, that $4.00 difference adds up fast! The service was friendly, personal, and they know their stuff. Without so much as one 'bing-bong' warning with a security camera staring at my face, I got what I needed at a reasonable price quickly and efficiently. I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Plywood. I wouldn't compare it to Goodwill though : they are fairly picky about what they accept as far as donations, and there are no clothes. As someone who's both donated and bought here, I'm a fan. Prices are more than reasonable and you're saving this stuff from going in the dump.

I indicated that I would prefer an appointment and she confirmed that wasn't a problem and booked one for later in the week for us. We were treated with a smile when we came in for our appointment and pointed in the direction for the type of material we believed we were interested in. She then told us that the woman who was going to help us would be over very shortly. The designer was over shortly and took a little time to understand and get information on our project and what our vision was. She pulled a few samples and as we talked through the design concepts we changed our vision a bit and she lead us through some ideas. Her next pull on the product hit it out of the ballparks and we landed on the backsplash we ended up ordering. She was great. They took down the information and confirmed they would relay the information to our contractor who would also confirm the amount we would need. We then went back in a few days later to make the payment for the material. Once again we were warmly welcomed and very quickly supported with the payment. I would absolutely recommend CFM for their staff, service level, knowledge and vast variety of products and assistance.
