Pacific Java Cafe is my neighborhood cafe (I literally live across the street) so it's convenient and a great quick stop. The coffee and the tea are always just right. The pastries and snacks are good too. However, the cookies aren't very good which is a disappointment to someone who sometimes needs a cookie fix. The decor is funky and the vibe is perfect before a beach stroll. Everyone that works there is friendly. Love this place!! Now all it needs is wifi!!! The decaf espresso is *fantastic*. Do you know how hard it is to pull a good decaf espresso? Hint: really hard. The only downside is that the cappuccino is the hyperfoamy meringue style, so you probably want a latte. Fabulous coffee, though. Also cheap. read more

Stayed at a hotel around the corner while on a quick trip to the area, decided to stop by after some local sightseeing and grab some afternoon lattes before returning to our room for the day. Service was great - one young man working at the counter took our order and started making our drinks immediately. He was very friendly and personable. We had to wait, or course, for four drinks to be made by one person, but it was worth it! A couple people walked in while we were waiting and had to wait for their orders to be taken until our drinks were done, but they all seemed too glad to be in from the cold to complain. Besides, the atmosphere is cozy - playing cards and board games to pass time, walls of vintage signs, and comfy lounge space upstairs. Last, but certainly not least, the coffee is good! Usual suspects of Torani syrups and Ghirardelli powders for flavors, but the espresso was made well and milk was steamed properly, so the drinks tasted better than most chain places where you get burnt coffee. Worth the couple blocks' walk, definitely. Bottom line: if you find yourself in the area - or just passing through headed elsewhere - make your coffee stop here! It's one of the few non-chain coffee places until you hit Half Moon Bay, and it's yummy. Try the Mexican mocha! read more

I want to like this place but every time I have been it takes 30 plus minutes for a cup of coffee! The baristas are nice but there just isn't enough working, especially on the weekends. This is no fault of the employees but the owner. There should be at least 2 employees working weekend mornings to ensure the customers get timely service and the employees aren't crazed and overwhelmed. That is no way to treat an employee to put them in that situation. There is potential if it were being run right. read more

I absolutely love this coffee shop! It's a super great place to get a basic coffee (they always have a few options of the pour-it-yourself variety), or a specialty drink with flavors. Personally, I love the coconut cream as an iced coffee. I would bring in my reusable Starbucks cup and they never gave me a hard time about it. Also, I'm under the impression the treats they have are homemade. Whether they are or not, they're fantastic and reasonably priced :) The only thing that would make this place 5star would be wifi. read more

I stayed at a near by hotel while on vacation and I was desperate for some good coffee (I work at a coffee shop back home so hotel coffee doesn't cut it). We found this little local shop and the coffee is great! I tried an minty Irish cream americano and it was so good I came back every morning I was in California and had it again. I would 100% recommend this shop for anyone just looking for some good local coffee/espresso. read more

I found this little place on my first day. I needed coffee. Be warned, it's cash only, but they have an ATM and the fee was reasonable at 2.50. (Shame on me arriving in town without cash, right?) Anyhow, I was able to get almond milk latte w/ a small amount of hazelnut syrup for a reasonable price and they had homemade cookies and scones, even vegan!!! Such a delight. Walking into this establishment, it doesn't hit you immediately--it's a little bit random and funky, with the collection of decor they do have. But not in a bad way, mind you. Rather cute and cozy, in some ways. Cristîon B. and I were hanging out for the day, and chose to start with some coffee and a scone. We each had a great drink, a mexican mocha. Probably one of the best interpretations of the drink, flavors just spreading from the first taste, changing much like a rainbow might while on a drive. My only wish was that they take credit card. Oh well, you can't get everything. But I know where I can get one great mexican mocha. read more

I've been here about a handful of times and every time I have been unsatisfied with my drink. One of the baristas is very rude and unwelcoming. If you order ice coffee they give it to you black, I thought maybe they had a signature ice coffee but she cut me off when I tried to ask her and didn't quite answer my question. The drinks I've had have been terrible. I saw a review where someone said they have good chai so I figured I would try it, didn't taste like chai at all... it was milk with a slight slight taste of something else, but not chai. It is pretty expensive and you might as well just go to Starbucks for the price you pay. read more

The decor is very nautical and old-timey, which I love (if you've ready any of my previous reviews, you know I love old school). It's right by Rockaway Beach, so definitely check it out after a brisk walk or after having a period of relaxation on the sand. It wasn't crowded at all when I went. In fact, my dad and I were the only customers at the time. There is a good amount of seating, including a cute little sitting area with couches and tables upstairs. And YES, there is outside seating as well for those warmer days. Yay! Bring your doggies :) I ordered a zebra mocha, which was delicious. I'm not a big coffee person, and when I do drink it, I HATE when it's bitter. The zebra mocha was perfect. Definitely get that. I also ordered the veggie quiche, which contains mushrooms, red peppers, ricotta and cheddar cheese, leeks, and zucchini. Yeah, I hate zucchini, but I gave the quiche a chance anyway. It was good, but it was HOT. I burned the roof of my mouth when I took my first bite, and I hate to wait at least fifteen minutes to eat more. Finally, I ordered the poppyseed cake slice (I think that's what it was.) It was alright, but it was very sweet. Don't get me wrong, I love sweets, but I'll probably go for something else the next time I go there. Overall, great atmosphere, great coffee, and the lady that worked when I was there was super friendly. Four stars! read more

Absolutely LOVE this place!!! I grew up in Pacifica, and we stop at this coffee shop every time I come home to visit my family. This place reminds me of all the great things about this little town along the coast; friendly, laid back, peaceful. I get my favorite coffee drink, take it to the beach and sit on the rocks while I sip the wonderful flavor and drink in the sea (am I setting the scene?) before heading up Fassler to my parents house. Or if we have my 95 yr old grandmother with us, she loves to pick out a tasty cake, (they have a good variety) sip coffee in the ambiance of a quaint little shop with no rush or frenzied energies. Yes, there is no Wi Fi, but you can take your laptop down the road to the ever generic Starbucks, which leaves the seats for those who enjoy conversation, coffee, and what ever flavor of the day music they are playing. Cash makes everything simple, no fraud, no bad checks, never have to worry about someone hacking their database, no complications, just enjoy the coffee read more

Fantastic location in rockaway. And plenty of parking on streets and in lots. Espresso drinks are fantastic. Caseline food variety js broad but not particularly fresh or unique. Like the boiled eggs though. Cash only (they have atm inside) and no wifi, though there is usually an open xfinitywifi hotspot that gets you 4-5Mbps down and about 500Kbps up. Enough for email and small file movement. Also, very large space with both ground floor and loft area with seating. Usually very empty even on weekends midmorning. read more

I was in Pacifica for their 30th Annual Fog Festival last weekend. Sunday morning I enjoyed a brisk walk and run up and down the hills surrounding Rockaway Beach. My hotel room didn't have coffee, so after my run all I wanted was a latte and right now! I was walking along and spied a couple with espresso. They were kind enough to point me in the direction of Pacific Java. What a treat to walk in and be warmly welcomed. There before me were mouth watering bakery goods that tempted me beyond believe!! I resisted the temptation only because I can't eat after running, ha. I ordered a nonfat, almond latte with a double shot of espresso....it was delicious. The perfect way to end my morning run and walk. I'll remember this place for the next time I'm in the area. read more

Best coffee in Pacifica - well...OK...I haven't tried them all quite yet. But, I have had coffee in quite a few establishments around town and this one is the best so far. True, the decor can be a little off-setting and funky at first, but it is quaint and perfect at the coast. Their specialty coffees are really great. I am not sure how they do it, but they have such great foamy hot milk, light and airy. They also have an assortment of baked goods, pre-wrapped in saran wrap. The cinnamon coffee cake is my favorite. But if you are hungry you can have a toasted bagel with cream cheese, or a hard boiled egg or yogurt from the case. They also have quite a large selection of loose teas - a whole wall full of them.
