I know that bagels aren't exactly the healthiest meal to start your day, but I can't help it - it's…read moreone of my go-to breakfast foods. In my defense, though, at least I try to keep it a bit healthier by not slathering globs of cream cheese all over it. However, when it comes to lox bagels, all bets are off. And you can be sure all bets were off when we stopped off at David's Bagels to try what my buddy says is his favorite lox & bagels around! Much like Pacifica as a whole, David's Bagels is a rather cozy, laid back sort of spot. While there isn't any seating inside (I assume a lot of folks take their order down towards the pier or the beach), they do have a display case for their pastries and treats they offer to go along with the fifteen or so varieties of bagels. Based on the photos on Yelp, most of those baked goodies, like their muffins, croissants, hamentoshen, and donuts, looked pretty enticing, but, sadly, we didn't get to try any of them since all they had left were a few different types of cookies. Since I already knew what I wanted before we even walked in, the only thing left to figure out was the type of bagel. Thankfully, I was able to get exactly what I wanted - a LOX & CREAM CHEESE ($17.75) on a Jalapeno Cheddar Bagel with Everything (Tomatoes, Cucumbers, and Capers). Although the bagel itself was notably smaller than I thought it would be, all together, this was still pretty hefty and tasty. The salmon was delicious, the veggies were fresh, they didn't skimp on the cream cheese, and, most importantly, the bagel was terrific aside from its size. The center of it was moist, it wasn't all that dense, and I love how the jalapenos were incorporated in the batter and not just laid on top. As undeniably good as the Lox & Cream Cheese was, it's hard to argue that it didn't feel a little pricey. Granted, it has gotten more expensive at just about every bagel joint and that this one came fairly loaded, but I still feel like I could find this for less elsewhere. That being said, the cost of the bagels by itself, as well as their Turkey Bagel Sandwich, are actually pretty standard. All in all, THREE AND A HALF STARS would be perfect if I could, but I'm, somewhat regretfully, rounding down for now. I may not get the Lox & Bagel here again, as it's a bit of a splurge, but I'd happily return to David's Bagels to try their other bagels and some of their other baked goodies!

Walked in Saturday morning and it was empty except for a couple waiting for their drinks. While waiting to order (since the staff was busy preparing drinks), another customer walked in and asked if the falafel bagel was available which the staff said yes to. The customer then patiently waited behind us. We were told to wait since they would be done with the drinks soon. A few minutes later, another staff member asked the other customer what he wanted in his falafel bagel and proceeded to make it. We said that we hadn't placed our order yet and the staff making the drinks said "It takes longer to make and he's a regular customer." Oh. That's how it is here. After we finally ordered and got our bagels (since we wanted to still enjoy our breakfast), we were again disappointed. The everything bagel was flat, small and kind of doughy. (Perhaps not fully cooked?) The egg and cheese with cream cheese was added sloppily. Disappointing since we have just moved here and want to support small businesses. We'll just have to take our business elsewhere.

One of the most disgusting breakfast sandwiches I've ever tasted. The pleasant staff are the only thing saving House of Bagels from a one-star review.

We made our orders and the people behind the counter were quick to strike up conversation. We were made to feel like we were a part of their community and not just tourists. All of the coffee fare is the same you can get most anywhere at a nominal price. They have some tasty pastries. I really enjoyed my Jalapeno ham and cheese croissant was really good. We ended up going every morning of our weeklong stay in Pacifica. They made us feel so welcome. We will for sure return when we stay there again.

In addition to serving top quality coffee, Craftsman coffee has a space that is cute and welcoming. Want to play your own vinyl? Bring a record because they have a marantz stereo system with a turntable ready to play. Want to enjoy a little video game while you're here. They have a classic Pac-Man machine. Feeling a little chill and need a place to warm up that is both comfortable and out of the way. Craftsman coffee has heated seating inside to warmer bones. While you're enjoying your coffee. This can be an important point around Pacifica which is known for its 50 to 60° weather nearly year-round due to the proximity to the ocean, and the focused marine moisture quite often bringing fog and overcast skies. In addition to coffee, Craftsman coffee also offers pastries made by other local businesses. Including Rosalind Bakery in Pacifica. Dog parking is by the front entrance. With hooks for To secure your dog's leash by the door. However, they don't provide any bowls for water. So make sure you bring your own, or ask for an extra cup to put water for your pet into. They also don't offer any puppuccinos. No public restrooms here. But there are other restrooms available close by. Located only two blocks from the ocean, Craftsman coffee can be a great start to your local coastal outing in Pacifica, and beyond. If you need other amenities to go along with your coffee, Craftsman coffee also offers free Wi-Fi, power outlets to charge up your mobile devices, and free coffee grounds compost for your garden.
