While I had my gripes about Brooklyn Mirage, like that they often oversold the venue and it would get too crowded or that it attracted a bro-y crowd that tended to push, I still ended up there often, and now I'm missing aspects of it that its replacement is missing.
Mirage's closure left a void in the Brookyln nightlife space for a venue of this scale, and at the start of the summer season, images of Pacha still under construction proliferated social media and had us all suspecting we'd go yet another summer without this venue. But they pulled it together and the sentiment I've heard from most folks attending has been mixed, with some bright spots.
The sound system is excellent, which can definitely make or break the experience. The stage set up is replete with high quality effects like well timed smoke machines and neon lights, so it does feel like high production worth paying for. I also like that there's a railing/path by the stage meant to funnel people moving through the crowd, so you don't have to wander and push as you're leaving to go to the bar, bathrooms, or to leave. The bathrooms were pretty clean and I didn't have to wait in line.
The prices for drinks were pretty outrageous-- like $40 for a whiskey and $20 something for a Stella. The drink packages they sell may be worth it if you're going to imbibe. I also miss the upstairs area that existed at Mirage for a reprieve from dancing which this space doesn't have.
In past summers we were at Mirage several times a month. Pacha to me feels like a once in a while venue. read more
