So glad that Bembe reggae Tuesdays are back! I used to frequent the spot on a regular basis years ago on Tuesdays for reggae night. This spot is a vibe, just go and see for yourself. It gets very crowded as the night goes on, I suggest going early. I arrived around 10 o'clock and it was pretty empty, crowd started coming in around 10:30. By 12:30 it was packed. Mixed crowd, people actually dance, really good music.

My friend earned a well-deserved new role at a new company with a promotion. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than for us to just dance our faces off! I'd walked by this venue in the past and always liked the music, so I suggested it, and according to him, I chose well. When we walked in, they were playing salsa (?) and I was amazed to see a live percussionist in front of the DJ! It was one of the coolest things I've seen at a club. Everyone was dancing and the atmosphere was just so nice. People from all walks of life were present, so when the music vacillated between salsa, reggae, Afrobeat, dancehall, Amapiano, Reggaeton, and some hip-hop, there was some thing for everyone in there to dance to. The bongos synchronized with the music at him crazy good flair. I ordered pineapple juice and tequila. It wasn't yummy but I think all non-Champagne/Wine alcohol is disgusting, so that's my faultI did not drink it. I had a blast dancing here and will totally be back!

Return of a classic! The legendary Bembe is open once again. After 2.5 years of silence.. it rises! This spot was holding down south side williamsburg before the brunch crowd and your friends from LA. A latin spot with some of the best music for salsa/reggaeton. It had a stigma of being extremely small and packed (and lit) but a little renovation has drastically increased the size of the dance floor There are also live musicians with various instruments adding to the sound. Sometimes full bands as well (atleast I hope they bring that back too). There is a cover on weekends, but thankfully they take cards now lmao To more good times team! Congrats

    Entry door.

Fantastic music keeps the dancing HOT. Great atmosphere, nice drinks. My ten friends and I were visiting from Indiana for my birthday and arrived as soon as it opened. Haha, got there too early, but we had the place to ourselves for a bit. Nice ambiance before it gets packed, as well.

The unassuming entrance gives way to a warm, intimate space with dim lighting, a record player spinning in the background, and a fully stocked bar turning out genuinely excellent cocktails. We went at 6:45 on a Thursday, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were hoping for: relaxed, uncrowded, and perfect for conversation. It felt like we had stumbled onto a secret. The staff only added to that feeling, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. A special shoutout to our favorite waitress, Dusty, who was warm, lovely, and made the whole experience feel personal without ever being overbearing. The omakase was the highlight of the night. It got extremely crowded on that weekend, to the point where there was not much space to even stand or walk. Extremely dark with some neon lights and sometimes flashing lights. Typical dance club vibe. Mostly standing space and almost everyone dancing. But since there is barely any space between you and other people, there is barely any space to really dance. The third floor seemed to have more standing space. The first two floors were the most packed. Multiple floors and each floor has a different DJ featuring a different vibe of music. At least if you don't like the music, you can move on to a different floor. Since it's super dark, and the stairs are straight up pitch black, I can see how someone could potentially have a difficult time seeing the stairs and climbing them. They should add some neon lights or something like it in the middle of the stairs for safety reasons. I did not enjoy the music selections the night that I went. But I heard the music here just depends on the night, it's different vibes, and they switch it up.

I went to their Gyalhattan event, which was a mix of dancehall and hip hop, and the energy was great. The crowd is mixed but tends to skew younger, and it attracts people from a lot of different backgrounds. Visually, the space is very cool. The dark interior is covered with artistic, almost glow-in-the-dark designs that give the club a distinctive vibe. The staff has also always been pleasant and attentive, from the bouncers to coat check to the cleaning staff. Every interaction I've had there has been positive. Bathrooms are surprisingly clean too (and actually feel safe). There can sometimes be a line to get in, but it usually moves quickly. For ticketed events like Gyalhattan, prices are reasonable, and if you plan ahead you can sometimes grab early bird tickets for free. They have a good-sized dance floor, and DJs rotate throughout the night, with the best sets usually hitting after 1 a.m. There's also a lounge seating area if you want to take a break from the dance floor.
