Preface: I was down bad, y'all. I had the norovirus - which has been rapidly spreading in NYC - and walking pneumonia at the same time. I'm not sure how this happened because I'm always mindful (and demure ) of the places I go and religiously wash my hands when I get home. BUT after narrowly avoiding death, my friends decided to celebrate my full recovery, and life in general, by dragging me to Jupiter Disc, last night. I'm not sure what the cover was because my friend paid for tickets in advance. For a dive bar, it's quite spacious it was compared to similar spots, which are usually smaller and have you stuffed like you're inside a tin can of sardines. Don't get me wrong, it's not huge but roomie enough to get your dance on without stepping on someone else's shoes. It's also super clean and has proper air ventilation... if you're into that sort of thing. The light fixture in the middle of the ceiling... should I call it a centerpiece? is impressive as well. I've seen many LED fixtures over the years. This is amongst my favorites. Another win of Jupiter Disco: on a cold, January night they had an adequate number of bartenders. Something other places struggle with. I can only speak to the cocktail I had and it was wonderful: Professional Widow ( Tequila + Lemon + Ginger + Cardamom + Blackberry Balsamic). I had a few of those and they were all made to perfection. My friends ordered other drinks but they said everything was to their liking. The DJ - For Future's Sake: Just wanted to drop a quick additional note about the DJ, For Future's Sake. Each time I hear his sets I become more and more impressed. We arrived earlier in the evening and the bar was still quiet; by the time we left, there was a bouncer and it started to fill up. Whether I've liked it or not, my friend group will somehow always end up at Jupiter Disco, usually as a last ditch effort to go out somewhere to dance when all other spots are closed or too packed. The music can get a little experimental and out there sometimes, which is probably why you don't see people going crazy on the dance floor. Unfortunately more energy is usually what I'm after. What I do enjoy about JD is that for a dancey bar, it's pretty laid back and easy to get into. I haven't had to worry about anyone being pushy or creepy, and there are parts of the bar where you can actually have a conversation without shouting or getting elbowed by an overzealous dancer. I think it has so much more potential to be a higher energy bar, especially considering the area and their late hours, but post 2020 many of us have come to consider a mellow after party as the norm. My friend and I came here for drinks on a Friday night. There are a couple stools at the bar and some stools and bar tables around the perimeter of the room, but the middle of the room is cleared out so people can dance. I had the Bizzy Izzy. Their happy hour is from 6 - 8pm every day, and classic cocktails are only $8 (as of March 2024) during this time. I had no expectations coming to Jupiter Disco. Was told it was a dancey bar, which it definitely was. When we arrived it wasn't very crowded so felt a little uncomfy but literally by the time we ordered a drink it filled up quite quickly and before I knew it it was packed. They really nailed down the space theme-- loved the menu on the TVs and the drinks are poured strong. The dj that started the evening spinning was very good, wasn't a huge fan of the one after so we bounced but definitely a fun option for a night out in Bushwick if you like dancing. read more

Could play a lot funner music for something called a "disco." Had no clue where the bathroom was either. Might have been deep back but you couldn't walk through cause the density of the crowd. Only good things were they had a nice sound system but no speakers in front where you enter and furthest from DJ. So everyone crowds the back where the DJ is. Also, I think probably cause of the cover they don't have to pack the place like sardines so there was space in the front entrance area to move and talk. It's pretty small inside for a place that charges a cover for god awful edm music. Heard a lot of good things about this place but Mad Tropical is much better in all respects. DJ KFeelz was playing classic house from records! I haven't seen a DJ play from records in so long that I was really impressed. The music kept me there, honestly, the place is a bit small, but the music was so good you don't really care and you can't stop dancing lol. THIS WAS THE BEST COCKTAIL EVER!! Ok this was actually so delicious! Strawberry gin drink with a fresh strawberry garnish + lime. Beautiful presentation for sure. First time I got a specialty cocktail here and was so impressed. If you want to go get a fancy drink, this is a great spot to do that. And the prices are very reasonable. I enjoy visiting Jupiter Disco. Its location is great, in Bushwick right on the border of buzzing Ridgewood. It's also near the train and other venues, such as House of Yes. I think Jupiter Disco is a great pregame spot or first stop on your night out -- it's usually free entry before 11 and the drinks are solid. Their house cocktails are $15 which is a tad pricey, but they're definitely strong and well-crafted. The bartenders, even on busy nights, put in the time and effort to make each drink perfectly. The vibe is great. You might miss the place if you go by too quickly, since it doesn't have a sign and is inconspicuously settled in the industrial side of town. Inside is super cool, a dark-lit room with a DJ and disco ball, purple and red lights and a cool neon space-looking thing behind the bar. The drink menu appears on TV screens in a matrix-style font. The crowd who goes there is that pretentious hipster type, but they're not annoying and don't bother anybody. It's actual of-age people in here. The bathrooms aren't immaculate, but the two that are in there are OK for the size of the place and the amount of people in there. You don't usually wait on line long. My only complaint is the music. While I absolutely adore that the DJs spin actual records, they play mostly obscure techno music with no lyrics. It's not bad at all, but I find myself standing there with my friend like "what am I dancing to?" If they could switch it up between that type of music (because it does fit the vibe) with some old-school disco hits that folks can sing along to, Jupiter Disco would be my dream bar. read more

It's a pretty small bar, dark as hell, and there's a DJ, so the crowd made for a better dance floor. Solid music. The drink menu rotates through a TV mounted on the wall. There's a pretty extensive list of cocktails, some of which are delicious, and some are delicious but 2 gulps and still $13. We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. We arrived and everyone was seated around the booth. The ambiance is dark and definitely disco-y (is that a word), it's a cool, sensual almost vibe in a dive bar setting. The drinks were a little cheaper than Manhattan, but not by much. They were okay, nothing really fantastic that stood out to me. The drinks menu was projected on the tv in Galaga type font, going off the Jupiter vibe I assume. They flash by a little quick, but are fun to read on the screen. The bartenders were friendly. One of them accidentally spilled half of my drink on the table as he was preparing it and then still charged me for it, which I was really disappointed about but didn't want to make a fuss as there were more people waiting. I asked the DJ to play Whitney Houston, which is what I would consider disco, but he didn't have any unfortunately. I'd suggest increasing the number of songs in the library as well because they all blended together and sounded the same unfortunately. People were dancing in a huddle towards the front of the music, but it's a pretty tight place. I lovingly call this #MySecretGarden There is zero signage other than some holiday type lights around the only window & a red light above the door with people standing out front either smoking or trying to get in (depending on the night and the DJ). Once you enter you realize that what you thought was supposed to be a dive bar is actually a wonderful Bushwick upscale hidden gem. As much success as I wish for the crew at Jupiter Disco I also love that unless you know about it, you don't know. The DJs are eclectic as are the people that you will find coming to listen and dance to them as they take over the ones and twos. The drink menu is via one of two TVs at either end of the bar and scroll in a dot matrix way that makes you want to jump on a game of PacMan or maybe even better Galaga! The bar is long, the dance floor very cozy and there are two booths available (right as you enter on right) if you are lucky enough to snag one. The lighting allows for the right amount of dim but "I can see you" with the perfect sexy glow omitting from the orange pipe lights above. This is an intimate space, please treat it as such, this isn't TAO. Drinks are not dive bar cheap you might have been hoping firbut they are also beyond reasonable for the craft and care that goes into making them. One of my favorite cocktails is the Salt + Ash (tequila base) which seems to have remained on the menu thanks to Al or Max, not sure which but maybe Max as it's his creation. The cocktail menu rotates and I always try a new cocktail once it's added. Some I've loved, some not so much but ALL are good - just maybe not what I was craving at that moment. For those looking for a snack with your libation Jupiter also sells empanadas. All in all, you'd be a fool not to step in & shake your tail feathers at least once here BUT also shhhhh only share this special place with those you really like otherwise it's going to become another frat bro location and let's please keep Brooklyn weird!!! I had a date at an Ethiopian bar around the corner and stumbled here after looking for a bar that would keep my interest level high. I popped in on a Thursday. It was bumping but empty enough to find two seats at the bar. The space is pretty cool. The best part is the entry way -- it looks like a 70s spaceship mock up from a telly show. The menu of the bar -- like everyone stated is on a tv. It's frustrating because they go by pretty fast and the bartenders aren't too helpful. They tell you to check the website for the menu. There should be at least ONE paper menu. The DJ is cool and did try his best to fulfill request. But his library is limited. Drinks are actually pretty good but they're fru-fru drinks. Depending on what you get you might have more ice than alcohol. I would come back. I did eventually -- with guy I texting in the bathroom all night on the original date. Came here the first week of Oct for pregame before seeing Don Diablo at the Brooklyn Mirage. The bar itself is extremely dark, however it is quite chic (blade runner sci-fi settings with old school computer matrix fonts used for drink menu) and DJ spins techno tracks all night. This dive bar has really cool vibe and definitely attracts many patrons from their mid-twenties to late thirties to have a great night out while dancing to awesome tracks. In terms of space, it is quite small so it gets packed in no time even before 11pm hits. Drinks were around $11 or $13 each (quite expensive IMO since it is in the Bushwich area) but it was decently strong. I didn't interact much with the bartenders since my friends took over order duties, but I recalled them mentioning they were helpful, despite they took a little longer to make the drinks as the bar gets crowded. Overall, really nice dive bar in-between pit stops in the area. A little bit out of the way if you ask (it is located by industrial city), but great place to pre-game before a show at the Mirage. I recommend you check it you if you have a chance! read more

I had been meaning to come here and finally did after a day of drinking. The decor is not as...dystopian/Blade Runner/sci-fi....or whatever, as articles and reviews have made it out to be. It's dark, there is some old technology sprinkled about, but I wouldn't call it themed. What made our freakin night was the bartender, Mellie. She was the BEST. We talked Buffy and movies and music and science and politics and everything. We came in a little after opening, she was still shaping the ice for the cocktails and chatted with us the entire time. Not a large venue at all but I like the dark atmosphere (it's quite dark) and they had an interesting theme. I don't drink so I can't speak for that but the friend I came with had no issue with the drinks; pricing is high but they do have a great display for their menu and they also have empanadas, but I didn't get to try them. I was mostly there to hang out with him and do something on a Saturday, figuring he might want to talk to some ladies as I wasn't there to meet guys & there weren't as many guys around. It got crowded later in the evening but music was decent and the dance floor was pretty good. It's kind of like your broey cousin who works on Wall Street wanted to open a totally lit bar in Bushwick after watching blade runner 2049 and you mention that there was another blade runner in the 80s and he is no longer paying attention cause there are some yeezys he's bidding on on stockx that just dropped 100$. Apparently in the dystopian disco that only exists on Jupiter they serve 12$ vodka sodas, the menus are 10 point scrolling font on an old crt monitor and the music is hit or miss. It's trying so hard to be sci fi themed and I love their neon glowy cathedral mirror thing behind the bar, but something doesn't work about the theme. Fun place sometimes. The bartender spilled a glass of water on me on accident and didn't say anything and charged me $12 for another drink. There's no sign but it's not hard to find. read more

Stopped by on a Thursday to pregame before heading to Elsewhere. As this was a hosted "meet-up" party before the show, it got packed very quickly. Very easy to miss this place as it looks like it's an abandoned shop. There's nothing too special about the inside, just the bar and a couple of booths.
