The plan was to route them through Houston, Texas. Instead, without my permission, Schumacher shipped them to Los Angeles. When I demanded answers, they claimed a salvage title meant the car couldn't ship from Texas--a claim I highly doubt. This unauthorized rerouting caused massive delays and endless hidden fees. While in LA, they held my cars hostage until I paid an unexpected $7,765 for an "extra customs checkup." It took over five full months just to get the cars to Europe. Once in Germany, Schumacher tacked on another surprise fee of $3,931.40 just to release the vehicles, completely ignoring their original quote of around $520 per car. To make matters worse, their German destination partner, SATS Group GmbH, was completely unprofessional, clueless, and a nightmare to deal with. They tried to force an absurd, double-taxation customs scheme on me regarding my final delivery to Bulgaria. I paid triple what I was originally quoted, suffered through a 5+ month delay, and dealt with shocking unprofessionalism. I will never use Schumacher Cargo Logistics again, especially the Los Angeles branch. Be warned!

There were 2 pick up locations - my storage unit and my parent's house. They had everything from storage wrapped and packed into the truck in 2 hours. Then we went to my parents for a few more things, we were out of there in under an hour. The first issue occurred after my 2nd inventory review, when I was told the cost would be $3000 more than what was originally agreed upon. I fought this and the previously agreed upon price was maintained. The movers arrived on time, but only 2 people were sent to pack, load and unload in a single day (I moved 1 mile away). They smelled really bad - body odor and cigarettes - and told me they had just come from another job and were working an 18-hour shift. I paid to have them pack, but they were moving so slowly I ended up packing at least half of my belongings. They came with no tools and were unable to dissemble anything - a large dog crate and a treadmill were unable to be moved because they had packed my tools in the front of the van and had none of their own to finish the job. They didn't finish packing until 5p (7 hours). The company only wanted to accept Zelle, a money order or a cashier's check - my bank put a limit on Zelle and banks/post offices were closed by the time payment was needed. After 1 hour of back-and-forth they allowed CashApp, which also had a limit. Finally, another hour later, they allowed me to use a credit card to pay. So, unloading did not begin until 7p - the boxes they packed were not labelled and stuff had just been dumped in with no attempt at organization. A lamp broke. One guy walked off the job and the other told me he would bring everything into the living room and I had to move the boxes to where they were going - he would only move furniture. At midnight, I was told a new crew would return the next day to finish the job - no one returned and 5 days later I still had furniture in my living room. I had to hire a new moving company to finish the job. THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE AT ALL! And, later I realized they had taken a artisanal basket full of throw blankets, including one that my 87 yo aunt had made for me. I never had it returned!

They arrived at the first apartment at 9 am and did not finish packing until 9 pm. They did not complete the move until 2:30 am! Per my mother-in-law, the company sent someone ahead to assess the apartment, the furniture, and provide an estimate. He estimated 10 hours but the move took 15 hours and they charged by the hour, which added several hundred dollars to the cost. If someone comes to assess, would that person not measure the furniture and the elevator? (the movers claimed items were too big to move or could not fit in the elevator). That should be the point of a preliminary visit. At one point, they threatened not to unload the truck unless they were paid immediately. They also broke a fixture in the building hallway which led the building's manager to keep calling us, adding to the stress. Initially, they denied breaking it, though it was clear there was no other way this could have happened. This is no way to do business. The entire episode left our family with a terrible feeling and was highly upsetting to a fragile 99 year old.
