I was weighing my options between this company and another for my local move and ended up choosing Ample Moving because I've used their services before years ago with no issues. My most recent move went without a hitch on the actual day, until the very same night when I realized they threw away ALL of my blankets and bedsheets into the TRASH. When I could not locate the missing blankets, I called the movers who were adamant that everything on the truck had been unloaded. I drove back to my old apartment TWICE and was still unable to locate the missing blankets until I checked the DUMPSTER, which is where they were. I had specifically requested that certain bag of soft blankets and bedsheets to be loaded onto the truck. They left All Trash in my apartment and instead trashed the very bag I specifically requested to be loaded. I had to dash to Walmart at 9:45PM to have bedding to sleep on. I took a 3rd walkthrough of my new apartment and the old apartment and I am also missing my tools. I am a single woman with a certain amount of tools to get by with small projects. Yet, ALL of my tools except for a Hammer are missing. Noting these things that were missing, I reached out to the manager, ALLEN, who assured me he would investigate what happened and would be calling me back. It has been 5 days with silence and no answers. Had I known my move would've ended with missing tools and trashed blankets, I would've gone with the other company. I have never had good experience with movers. This one was the first positive. Ample movers were easy to hire - easy to talk to, straight-forward and sensible. Vladimir (Vlad) and his team were our movers. Ours was a short move. So we were paying by the hour. Even when we were paying by time, they were quick and didn't waste time. They hurried up. But they still listened to our requests. The destination is 1.5 flights of stairs up (plus 1 flight of stairs inside the house), but they didn't complain. We had a slight damage in our TV stand. He apologized multiple times and also offered to compensate me from his pocket. Of course, I didn't take any money from him. Never had a better experience with a mover. All of which I sent Jamal pictures when originally quoted! Jamal accepted my request for a Tuesday delivery and never said anything about other peoples merchandise on the truck.They picked the stuf up 1 week before a delivery on a Sunday. Was to be delivered the following Tues. They (Sean/Billy) do NOT return phone calls. They sub contracted it out to a 3rd party out of Paterson who drove it to Miami. We were in Jacksonville! They gave us the driver's cell number who never answered the phone! Never came Tuesday. Wed was promiesed between 10-12 noon. Never came. Then promised 6-7 pm Wed. Finally, got delivery 8pm on Wed night. They are HORRIBLE!!! NOT RELIABLE. read more

Vladimir and the 3 other men were excellent. They were professional, fast, efficient, honest, and pleasant. They notified me they were on their way, which was great. Vladimir and his team did a great job loading and unloading all my items from my house and storage unit. Vladimir even fixed my wobbly chair. Excellent professional movers. Highly recommend and we will definitely use them again. Side note: with ample movers, wrapping/packing the mirrors/glass was a bit pricy for $35 a piece, so we decided we would just move them ourselves since it was quite a few items. read more

I had a horrid customer service experience with Ample, which shocks me based on their high reviews on Yelp. I had an appointment with them to come look at my belongings to issue a moving cost quote. They arrive and somehow enter the building without me letting them in. Whether they followed someone in or found the door propped open, I don't know but if they were professionals they would have still rang my buzzer. Instead they entered the building at wandered up to my unit. When they knocked, I asked how they got in and they just mumbled something incoherent. I let them in anyway and they followed me in, not closing the door behind them. I realize this is minor, but I have a cat and this compounded with my other issues just all adds up. They never offered their names. THey wandered around my apartment taking pictures and speaking to one another in a language I do not understand. I never have a problem with "not speaking english" but when they do it seemingly talking about my possessions while taking pictures of them, it's a little disconcerting. I asked questions and they were unable to answer a single one (compared to other movers who came, evaluated my possessions, sat with me for an unlimited amount of time to explain the fees, processes, etc.). I asked when would i get the quote and was told that afternoon. That was 2.5 days ago. The quote doesn't matter because after my experience with them in my house I would never hire them. But, the fact is nobody ever followed through. Two strangers came to my house, let themselves into the building without being buzzed in, took pictures of my entire apartment, and then did not complete their assignment by giving me a price quote. read more

I moved about a month ago within Jersey City and am very happy that I chose Ample Moving. I called quite a few different moving companies and took a chance on Ample (had never heard of this company) because 1. the person who answered the phone was pleasant and knowledgeable and 2. the price they quoted seemed fair and reasonable compared to other quotes. I had 3 movers. They arrived at the stated time, were incredibly efficient in assessing my space and items, and wrapped and handled my items with care. At no point was I concerned about items being damaged or mishandled. The same care they took with packing my items into the truck was the same care they took unpacking. They assessed the new space, asked where I wanted my items placed, and with minimal direction, placed everything in the appropriate spot and room. The owner was great when it came time to communication. I had an early morning move (8:30) and even the drivers called to let me know they were on their way; and arrived on time. The driver was very nice and accommodating. I had a move with 3 guys. They got an entire 3 bedroom townhouse moved out and moved into my new place within 4 hours. The guys were really quick. I've used other movers that are slow when it came to taping and furniture assembly and disassembly. Not these guys! I had a short window to have everything done by 12:30 and They were moving fast! They took great care of my pictures and electronics- nothing was broken and all the electronics worked perfectly! The movers were really nice and they even put my furniture back together when we arrived at the new place. I will totally use them again for my next move! read more

I had a great experience with Ample moving. Ground staff was really experienced and made it look all easy. They were quick and packed and unpacked with perfection. My only complaint was they charged for each online copy of certificate of insurances (for old and new property), which was new to me as no previous movers charged me for it, and online articles suggest that it should ideally not be charged by moving companies. So I suggest that they mention that explicitly on their sales page, that whenever a customer asks for CoI, we will charge 35$ per certificate. Apart for this unpleasant cost, the move was ideal. read more

I see here that some people have said they hired them based on the good reviews. After posting my 1 star review, I was contacted by the manager. He said he would only "finish the job"(that I already paid for mind you) if I took down my bad review. When I refused to remove the review, he said that he wouldn't send anyone. After a few minutes of back and forth on the phone, he agreed to send someone out to finally complete the job, since none of us had a bed to sleep on. I told my husband they were coming back out, and he said he didn't want them in our house anymore. U called the manager back right away and told him to forget about completing the original job. 30 minutes later, at 9pm, my doorbell rang. They had showed up anyway. Then my phone started going off. I told them I didn't need their services. For the next 35 min, they kept ringing my doorbell and calling my phone incessantly. Finally I told the manager I'd call the police if they didn't leave my property. They finally left. I believe the reason they have such great reviews is because they harass and intimidate the low star reviewers to take down their reviews. I stand by my original review. I highly recommend using Ample for any local moves in New Jersey and even more so if you need to book a long distance move. You will get highly professional, no nonsense, honest service at a very reasonable price. Skip the middle man fee from Upakt, and just contact them directly, and you will be happy you did based on my experience. I first used Ample a few years ago after booking them via Unpakt for a move of less than a block in Jersey City. I was very pleased with the job they did -- professional, quick move out of everything after arriving exactly when they said they would, all items packed and delivered properly and quickly on the destination end as well -- and the reasonable price they charged. So when I was looking to arrange for a far more daunting 1000+ mile move to Florida recently, I decided to contact them directly this time and see if they could do a cross-country move and at what sort of price. They do indeed coordinate long distance moves and at a better price than I saw anywhere else. They were meaningfully cheaper than any option offered by Upakt or and even a lot cheaper than renting a U-haul truck and doing it myself (which is bizarrely expensive for long distance moves, more than hiring movers somehow). They asked me to provide a detailed inventory of every item I would move. They gave me a good price for what I provided, adusted it lower it when I decided to throw out and replace a few items, and stuck to the quote they gave me with only a couple relatively minor, reasonable additions at the move out and move in. Just like my first experience, this time Ample handled the actual move out very smoothly and professionally. For a long distance move, they do the move out side in NJ, then pass the items to a long distance specialist, which puts a bunch of moves into a large truck and does them all together in one trip. They warned me upfront it could be as much as a 30-day delay before my stuff arrived in Florida, but I was very happily surprised when the other company handling the long distance side actually arrived only 5 days later. The other guys did a good job as well on the move in side, so Ample deals evidently deals with good partners for that part. The comparatively very low fee I was given by Ample was stuck to as agreed with a just a couple relatively small and reasonable added charges of $50 for packing materials to protect some lamps and other more delicate items on the NJ side and then $100 extra distance fee on the Florida side to account for the very long hallway they had to traverse between my new building's elevator and my apartment (my new building indeed has some crazy long hallways and is way wider than it is tall). read more

We hired Ample Movers about a month ago when we sold our house in Linden and needed to move all our stuff from our 4 bedroom house to a nearby storage facility. All we can say about Ample Movers is "WOW! THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING!!" There were 5 of them, including Alex which was the one who we spoke with over the phone. Anyway, on moving day, these guys were the definition of HARD WORKERS!!! Not only did they handle all our furniture with extreme care, but they packed and brought everything into the truck so quickly! Their teamwork was also incredible! They didn't need to speak much to each other, they just all knew what to do. They were like machines that never ran out of battery or showed fatigue! Also, when it came to breaks, these guys took very few! The only breaks they took was to eat breakfast and lunch (We offered to buy them Dunkin donuts and pizza). But even when they were on break, it's not like they were relaxing and taking their time. Instead, they are very quickly and went straight back to work! When it came to putting all our stuff into storage, these guys were like Tetris Professionals the way they arranged all our boxes, furniture, and belongings into the storage space. They utilized every amount of space in our storage cell from top to bottom and because of this, we didn't have to rent an additional storage cell which saved us more money each month! From the very start of my experience with Ample, I was delightfully surprised at how smooth everything went. Both women I spoke with on the phone were very kind and helpful, and the price was FAR cheaper than other companies I called (and I called many). Email correspondence thereafter was also prompt and helpful. The day of the move, the men called me to say they were a half hour away and arrived toward the start of their window. 3 movers came for our one bedroom, wrapped everything thoroughly, and moved it very quickly out into the truck which was more than big enough for what we had. They later arrived promptly to our new residence (which was an hour away) and moved everything in lickity split. There were a few minor nicks and dings in our Ikea furniture, but they're incredibly cheap and on their last legs anyway so we weren't too bummed. I couldn't be happier with the whole process and will definitely be booking them again. read more

Just a warning, they attract you with a reasonable estimate, than the first surprise.. when they arrive they ask you if you want your furniture in blankets and you have to pay for it! Than, they take their sweet time to complete the move and charge you more hours. I had the furniture delivered to a storage, they hold them on the track until i transfer the money using zelle, and isurprise again, i had to pay an extra 450$ for the packing on top of the hours..... ,. I do not recommend their services. Ample helped me move 33 miles from NJ to NY. Ample was great at setting up its service. Its employees also handled my belongings with care. However, a problem arose during the move, and Ample handled the problem quite unprofessionally. I left my NJ apartment at the same time as the movers. I offered directions to the NY apartment and indicated that I was taking the George Washington Bridge. The movers declined directions, saying "we will figure it out." Despite my having to stop and pay tolls in cash, the movers arrived, without reasonable explanation, AN ENTIRE HOUR after I did. I called the office once during that hour expressing my concern. The manager contacted the drivers but did not return my call. Whenever the movers arrived, they demanded full payment to complete the move, despite my previous deposit. The movers also refused to deduct any portion of the hour they were missing in action. Finally, the manager refused my second request, submitted through the movers, for a phone call. Stuff happens. I get it. Vehicles get flat tires. Movers take a wrong turn or even get lost. People take different routes and exercise different driving styles. But under these circumstances Ample should have deducted 1/2 or 3/4 of an hour from the move. When being compensated hourly, it is not reasonable to charge for time when the movers are lost or perhaps even doing something unrelated to the move. And it is certainly neither reasonable nor professional to ignore customer phone calls seeking to address an issue in real time. AS TO THE MANAGER'S RESPONSE, I NOTE THAT LARGE FREIGHT TRUCKS WERE PRESENT ON THE ENTIRE ROUTE THAT I TOOK. SO HIS COMMENTS ABOUT "WHAT EVERY CUSTOMER SHOULD KNOW" DOES NOT EXPLAIN THE ONE HOUR DISCREPANCY. MOREOVER, HIS COMMENT ABOUT THE DEPOSIT IS IRRELEVANT. THE ORIGINAL REVIEW DOES NOT ACCUSE AMPLE OF NOT APPLYING THE DEPOSIT TO THE FINAL AMOUNT -- THEY DID. RATHER, THE REVIEW CRITICIZED AMPLE FOR DEMANDING FULL PAYMENT MID-MOVE DESPITE HAVING A DEPOSIT. FINALLY, THE MANAGER'S RESPONSE DOES NOT ADDRESS WHY MY TWO REQUESTS TO BE CALLED WERE IGNORED. We made an interstate move from New Jersey to Maryland back in August of this this year (2018). We looked at a lot of quotes and called many different moving companies. Ample Moving gave us a reasonable price, and the manager Alex was super helpful with all of my questions. When they arrived on the day of, they worked very hard the whole time. I'd suggest being kind and having some Gatorade or Monster drinks for them to keep them hydrated and energized if it's a long move. They actually worked through lunchtime to get everything done as soon as possible. We bought them some dinner and gave a good tip for their hard work. I'd highly recommend these guys if you're moving. If they did this good of a job interstate moving, I'm sure they'll be just as dependable with in-state moving as well. read more

I came across Ample Moving on Yelp when I was using the request a quote feature to plan my move. Alex got back with the quote promptly and clarified all the charges including the fees for the COIs. On the day of the move Mike and his team came on time and despite issues with the COI (my building didn't verify them ahead of time so it wasn't Ample's fault at all!) they handled the issue immediately and I was still on schedule for my move. Unfortunately me and my team are very disappointed with the company. The booking agents messed up on our dates after we confirmed multiple times when the move was suppose to be done and time as well. When we called to let them know that we were concerned they squeezed us in and gave us a specific time frame. Showed up 6 hours and a half later. On top of that when the company had called me with a quote they promised one price and completely gave us another one on site. Ended up paying $200 extra. Besides the disorganization of the company the movers were very helpful when it came to assembling everything. They had a lot of patience and were cooperating. read more
