Came through the drive-thru and ordered a plain crispy chicken sandwich, no cheese, with bacon and a cheeseburger with onions and a peppermint chocolate shake. Gabe took our order and was very kind and attentive. We received our order and upon exiting I decided to check if my chicken sandwich was correct, as I have had several issues in the past at this location. Note: I order my burgers/sandwiches the same way every time--plain, no cheese, with bacon which should be a simple task to execute. Despite the order being correct on the ticket (plain, no cheese, add bacon), my sandwich had cheese on it. After a series of elaborate u-turns we made our way back to the store. I went inside to have the order corrected. The gentleman (didn't catch his name) who "assisted" me was rude and dismissive; made no eye contact and looked bored with me--you know the look. While I was explaining to him that I am disappointed that the cooks can't read a ticket and execute a simple order, he turned and walked away from me in the middle of my sentence after saying "the cooks do read the tickets, this just happens sometimes". No, if they were reading the tickets this would not happen ever. As someone who has worked extensively in customer service, this is a disturbing display of incredibly poor customer service. I wasn't being rude or unreasonable and I wasn't yelling, simply expressing my disappointment. Philip (another associate) came up to me at this point and kindly asked if there was anything he could do, which I appreciate and I applaud his effort to help fix the situation. I was given the correct order by a cook who smirked at me as he handed me the bag and I walked out. Upon returning to my vehicle and re-checking my sandwich for accuracy, I notice that the patty is cut completely in half and the bacon is extremely crispy and burnt. "Forget it" I thought, "I've wasted enough time with this already." As we are preparing to leave, I see the same gentleman (who had walked away from me while I was speaking to him earlier) outside at the back of the store staring at me with a dirty look and shaking his head. From a customer service perspective, this is completely unacceptable and this location should be embarrassed that its employees are behaving this way. If I were the manager here I would have terminated him on the spot for this passive-aggressive behavior. It is never okay to attempt to intimidate your customers. I called the manager to apprise her of the situation (I left out the part about the rude employee staring daggers at me as I exited the parking lot and the abhorrent quality of the replaced sandwich) and she was very sweet and apologized. She offered to give me my money back which I declined, cos it's not about the money; it's about basic expectations of customer service. He has built a remarkable business and did it in a way that rewards his employees' loyalty and hard work and does the right things. After watching the TV show I'm even more inclined to frequent P. Terry's over the other burger joints. Not to mention their food is really good. My only gripe is the lines are slow moving sometimes and the service is a little spotty depending on when you go. Ambience - this is one of their newer stores that they have expanding into north Austin. It has kind of a 50s feel to it based on the architecture and colors. The main colors of everything is turquoise and white. This one does offer a dining room instead of just a drive thru. Pretty clean and welcoming store. Menu - menu is pretty basic that sticks to the originals. There is hamburgers, cheeseburgers and then chicken burgers. There are a few other items but they stick to the basics. The burgers come with sauce, lettuce and tomatoes but you can get onions and pickles upon request. They offer handmade milkshakes and cookies made fresh every day. Simple but very straightforward menu for ease. The prices are pretty cheap to to be honest, $8 for a double combo. Not bad really. Service - came in the other day around 2:30 and there was a ton of teenagers in there. Normally a good sign to see a packed store. I went to the counter and was greeted by an employee to take my order. The lady that helped me definitely wasn't the most positive or attentive person ever. I had to repeat myself a few times on a single sentence of "I'll have a double cheese combo with a drink for here" But I guess that was too complicated of a sentence for her to follow. Sure. Anyways aside from that there wasn't any other interaction with the crew. Food - food came out packaged nicely and my burger is of a decent to small size. But for $8 that's not bad of a size. The fries look like they are cut in house because they look like actual potatoes chopped up. Some of the fries had those weird brown spots and darker brown coloring. The fries were nice and hot and were seasoned pretty well. They also definitely have a stronger earthy potato taste than most other fats food joints. No bad really. The burger thou was kind of a let down. As soon as I unwrapped it you can clearly see that they just threw the cheese on. It wasn't even melted, so now I have 2 pieces of cold cheese on my hot burger. Come on guys, let it sit on the grill a few extra seconds. Anyways, I start to eat my burger and realize that I basically just bout a cheese burger.... like only cheese....no meat no nada. The cheese they use is the cheap and widely used American cheese from either Sysco or Ben E Keith. It has a very powerful and overwhelming taste. I like American cheese but this was just not portioned correctly. With how little the other ingredients are and how small the burger was the cheese played a very dominating role. Basically the cheese was all I could taste and since it was also not even melted gave the burger a strange texture. I know this is fast food but I didn't see anything good about this burger. I have had some great fast food burgers but this wasn't one of them. Overall - so the fries were good but the fact that my burger couldn't even get melted cheese and that the cheese was so overwhelming I just don't see the appeal of it. I know they are super popular but for me it felt like a new generation McDonald's. Same stuff basically but Austin inspired, whatever that means. Come here pretty often yall are great for the most part. I do have one minor issue that CONSISTENTLY happens so its turning into a big issue. You guys fill the drink and have it overflow all around the cup and on top of the lid to where every single time.. when the drink gets handed to you its wet sticky hands and spilling on my clothes from the top of the lid and into my car as wel. I would not have even mentioned it if it were once or twice, but it is super consistent and quite annoying especially after laundry day. Please take just a second to wipe the cup down to make sure it isn't spilling on ur customers or making there hands sticky just grabbing it. That makes a dining experience less awesome from the spot especially if you are on the go or eating in your car.
