    Foundation...after demo, in Laguna Beach.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PHIL HOWARD FOR ANY OF YOUR CONSTRUCTION NEEDS. I recently finished construction on my new home in Laguna Beach (from the ground...up). Needless to say, I was nervous and skeptical about the whole process; as I had never undertaken such a colossal endeavor. P. Howard Construction exceeded my expectations with quality workmanship, honesty, timeliness and flexibility. Even when issues (architectural, structural, or personal design changes) arose, Phil and his team were able to adapt and meet the challenge. He and his crew were always there in force; ready and willing to take on whatever was necessary. Phil did NOT just build me a house...he built me a beautiful HOME! Joe C. Laguna Beach

I talked to some contractors and came up with some idea and felt absolutely lost in the process and was ready to just settle for something "run of the mill" standard style. Then my friend recommended Almas, she came over and we met and right away i knew she "understood" my vision...she then set an appt with my contractor to meet him and discuss...i wasn't excited about using this contractor then found out that Almas could actually handle the job from A to Z, design, contractor, everything...we knocked down walls, redid bathrooms, the kitchen, the floors, everything you can think of & working with Almas made it such a simple seamless process. 3 months later i was all moved in to my dream spot after a complete reonovation, anyone that comes over are just stunned at the level of design and quality of the work.. Do yourself a favor and just sign up with Makkan Design, Almas and her team know how to make your style come through- Not only did i meet an excellent designer but also made a great friend! Honestly, we really didn't know. We had some general ideas but as we've never done a redesign of anything inside the house before we really didn't know. If you're in a similar situation, I HIGHLY recommend you contact Makkan design to get ALL the information you'll need. They were very professional and will help you through the entire process from design to completion. Every step of the way was explained thoroughly and professionally. Once we had a solid blue-print of what we wanted to do, they continued to be completely engaged and open to our fluid inputs and even to changes during the construction. If you ask them to source lighting, tables, chairs, etc, they will give you excellent options and even trials to make sure it fits the decor and what fits for our family. I cannot recommend them enough. If you are thinking of redesigning your kitchen or living room, contact them and you won't regret it. CSLB has no license for them on record, therefore it's illegal for them to create a contract larger than $500, much less, have they any idea of how to treat customers with dignity, respect or courtesy. In fact, working the customer to derision seems to be their goal to justify walking out on a job with big money charged for little effort expended. They publish false advertising about their licensing and skills on their website to get your confidence (and 17K), then deliberately create conflict by being confrontational. They're liars and thieves; twisting the facts, denying the truth and making threats. They verbally accosted me with yelling and F-bombs. They blamed me for their incompetence. Their behavior was rude, unsettling and absolutely unprofessional. The only professionalism they demonstrate lies in the criminal realm. They take money for materials they do not deliver and charge for services they do not render. They are good at making excuses for why they can't work as scheduled. They are excellent at inventing fairytales as to why they can't deliver paid for materials. Their skills to rant and accuse are superb. Their ability to interrupt and drown me out with loud and long filibusters is unsurpassed. They exercise well rehearsed techniques to put clients at disadvantage; such as manipulation (initial affable smiles with gushings of gratefulness for hiring them), extortion (pressuring for money), charging for unreceipted supplies they wrongly called "add-ons" (a real "add-on" is a "change-order" which adds to the scope of work) shaming, diversion, deflecting, combativeness and threats (lawsuits, quitting and filing bankruptcy). In short, they have no intention of fulfilling the contract or making reimbursements for payments. Although Ed is listed as the sole contact of Cactus 2 Clouds, LLC with the CA Secretary of State, Ed told me he was quitting because his imaginary "boss" wouldn't let him work here due to his being upset and worried I wouldn't pay him the balance because I said "no more money until you're finished". Ed quit by his own choice, but insists I fired him. I did ask him to stop yelling at me and to do his work. I rightfully told him to stop the abuse. I had no motive to terminate him. I was too invested monetarily but I needed the stress inducing shenanigans to stop as follows: During the course of events, there was delay after delay, with excuse after excuse. Ed took charge of supplying a bathtub plug to finish new tub installation. We waited a week or so for it to arrive. When it got here, Ed said it was the wrong size, another week goes by but they accused me of causing delay for not supplying the plug! He then pronounced himself as having gone "above and beyond" to get it even though he never produced it and refused to do any work until we had it. This is "gaslighting" and crazy making. Ed failed to provide the item he promised, but the delays were all my fault for not giving them a plug? They said if I purchased it they would finish. Evidently the charge for $1,270 which I paid for additional supplies still wasn't enough money to buy a plug? It took me 2 days, not 2 weeks to get it mailed here from Home Depot. They claimed the plug was a pivotal installation before the drywall could be completed, but the plug shoe is installed from the room side of the bathtub, not from inside the wall. In reality plumbing for the master bathroom vanity could have been started. Additionally, there was some millwork to be done for which they could have begun manufacturing. There was electrical work that wasn't contingent upon the drywall being installed. They could have started the tile flooring except that they hadn't really purchased the tile. Pure and simple, they were deliberately lying, shifting blame and causing friction and delay. What really happened is, Ed cracked the drain pipe underneath the tub. Ed denied that he had told me he cracked it during installation and had said he would fix it. Previously, my plumber puttied the plug shoe on the old tub, stopping a leak before Ed came. Ed removed it, put in a new tub and shoe but insists that the reason for not forging ahead is due to the original leak. That's impossible since the old unit was taken out. Subsequently 3 separate professionals verify a cracked drain pipe is now present. After a month of stalling to complete a one week project, all they accomplished was additional damage in both bathrooms, incorrectly installed a bathtub, fit a portion of the needed drywall sections and scraped the acoustic ceiling in the master bedroom. The work they did do is substandard and will have to be redone. They badgered me, harmed my home. lied to my insurance company and drained my resources.

He did pretty well for 2 weeks and then when I asked him to fix or replace a skylight, he said both skylights needed replacing. He quoted me $2,800.00 for materials, which I gave him in cash. That was the last time I saw him. He has texted me multiple times with excuses as to why he couldn't come start the work. After the third time, I requested my money back. He said he had already purchased the skylights so I said ok return the materials along with a receipt. He never did. He then went on a rant about me being a "Karen" and he didn't owe me anything, how he didn't charge me enough and I felt entitled. I realize that he had this planned all along. He is a con artist. He also threatened to call the cops on me and that he would be contacting his lawyer. He is also a liar. Lesson learned, the hard way. Stay away from this guy! If you read his reviews (2 of them), you will see one written by "Nate", who is either a friend or relative that actually works with him, and "Ashley", his ex wife. What started as a dark/worn space is now a modern and bright home that we've received countless compliments on that the transformation can hardly be believed! In addition, some additional highlights from working w/ George/Tixan Construction: * [Great Communication] - George was an excellent communicator throughout our renovation. He provided timely responses to any texts/emails/calls throughout which greatly helped explain and minimize our concerns 1st time home owners. * [Excellent Prices] - George and his team provided excellent pricing for all work performed. Close friends/colleagues familiar with construction confirmed the competitive pricing provided for the work performed. * [Service] - George provided great customer service as he was very willing to provide his expertise and opinion on design and material selections to ensure we maximized the quality within our renovation budget. In addition, he works to ensure excellent quality in his work.
