Work: reconstruction after water damage. My experience with Cactus 2 Clouds is that they're hacks…read morewho claim to be licensed experts. CSLB has no license for them on record, therefore it's illegal for them to create a contract larger than $500, much less, have they any idea of how to treat customers with dignity, respect or courtesy.
In fact, working the customer to derision seems to be their goal to justify walking out on a job with big money charged for little effort expended. They publish false advertising about their licensing and skills on their website to get your confidence (and 17K), then deliberately create conflict by being confrontational.
They're liars and thieves; twisting the facts, denying the truth and making threats. They verbally accosted me with yelling and F-bombs. They blamed me for their incompetence. Their behavior was rude, unsettling and absolutely unprofessional.
The only professionalism they demonstrate lies in the criminal realm.
They take money for materials they do not deliver and charge for services they do not render.
They are good at making excuses for why they can't work as scheduled. They are excellent at inventing fairytales as to why they can't deliver paid for materials. Their skills to rant and accuse are superb. Their ability to interrupt and drown me out with loud and long filibusters is unsurpassed.
They exercise well rehearsed techniques to put clients at disadvantage; such as manipulation (initial affable smiles with gushings of gratefulness for hiring them), extortion (pressuring for money), charging for unreceipted supplies they wrongly called "add-ons" (a real "add-on" is a "change-order" which adds to the scope of work) shaming, diversion, deflecting, combativeness and threats (lawsuits, quitting and filing bankruptcy). In short, they have no intention of fulfilling the contract or making reimbursements for payments.
Although Ed is listed as the sole contact of Cactus 2 Clouds, LLC with the CA Secretary of State, Ed told me he was quitting because his imaginary "boss" wouldn't let him work here due to his being upset and worried I wouldn't pay him the balance because I said "no more money until you're finished". Ed quit by his own choice, but insists I fired him. I did ask him to stop yelling at me and to do his work. I rightfully told him to stop the abuse. I had no motive to terminate him. I was too invested monetarily but I needed the stress inducing shenanigans to stop as follows:
During the course of events, there was delay after delay, with excuse after excuse. Ed took charge of supplying a bathtub plug to finish new tub installation. We waited a week or so for it to arrive. When it got here, Ed said it was the wrong size, another week goes by but they accused me of causing delay for not supplying the plug! He then pronounced himself as having gone "above and beyond" to get it even though he never produced it and refused to do any work until we had it.
This is "gaslighting" and crazy making. Ed failed to provide the item he promised, but the delays were all my fault for not giving them a plug? They said if I purchased it they would finish. Evidently the charge for $1,270 which I paid for additional supplies still wasn't enough money to buy a plug? It took me 2 days, not 2 weeks to get it mailed here from Home Depot.
They claimed the plug was a pivotal installation before the drywall could be completed, but the plug shoe is installed from the room side of the bathtub, not from inside the wall. In reality plumbing for the master bathroom vanity could have been started. Additionally, there was some millwork to be done for which they could have begun manufacturing. There was electrical work that wasn't contingent upon the drywall being installed. They could have started the tile flooring except that they hadn't really purchased the tile. Pure and simple, they were deliberately lying, shifting blame and causing friction and delay.
What really happened is, Ed cracked the drain pipe underneath the tub. Ed denied that he had told me he cracked it during installation and had said he would fix it. Previously, my plumber puttied the plug shoe on the old tub, stopping a leak before Ed came. Ed removed it, put in a new tub and shoe but insists that the reason for not forging ahead is due to the original leak. That's impossible since the old unit was taken out. Subsequently 3 separate professionals verify a cracked drain pipe is now present.
After a month of stalling to complete a one week project, all they accomplished was additional damage in both bathrooms, incorrectly installed a bathtub, fit a portion of the needed drywall sections and scraped the acoustic ceiling in the master bedroom. The work they did do is substandard and will have to be redone. They badgered me, harmed my home. lied to my insurance company and drained my resources.
