Tried this spot out yesterday for lunch around 1pm. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated without anyone in front of us but we wanted to give it a chance still. We could tell staff was still trying to get into the swing of things being their first week of the soft opening so understood be some delays. The menu though not overwhelming definitely has some great options both for Ramen and Sushi. The lunch menu seemed great which one of the options included a ramen and a sushi roll (spicy tuna or California roll) for $13. That was plenty of food and for that price in southlake is amazing! Dinner prices can definitely be more than another sushi spot but assuming your paying little more premium for their location in Southlake. Ramen was delicious and flavorful! I ordered the vegetable and shrimp tempura, the tempura sauce was terrible, it tasted more like beer than the yummy sauce that normally comes with tempura. I also ordered the shoyu ramen, it wasn't good. The piece of pork they put in it was super chewy and gross and tasted super gamey like it was old, it was inedible. The ramen broth was rather flavorless.... I had to add soy sauce to try and make it better, it didn't. Lol I just didn't eat the $17 bowl of ramen. I needed a water refill, with not a worker in sight. I'm not a fan of this place and won't be back, it's extremely overpriced for less than mediocre food. read more

BEWARE! Overpriced, rude staff, and poor customer service. Come to this place all the time at lunch. Came for dinner and received below subpar service. On top of poor service, the already-very-pricey ($21) sushi roll I order without salmon (allergy) - sub tempura shrimp - I was told would be $6 more because "I didn't want it the way it comes". I've never paid more, as shrimp is less expensive than fresh salmon. The manager continued to argue with me that he works all the time and has never seen that order. I explained that I come often at lunch and have never had a problem with the order. He proceeded to tell me that I must be mistaken and had to be confused because the cook works 7 days a week and has never prepared it that way. I asked to speak with the owner, which he refused to produce as we sat there for 15 minutes (after waiting 15 to order). I finally asked for the check, which was $36 for 1 order of Gyoza (5) and 1 order of (4) shumai + 3 iced teas. The owner never bothered to come by. I'll never be back... read more

The food is very good however the booths are beyond uncomfortable. I will not be returning until this restaurant replaces their booths. A normal human being can barely fit into the booths and the last time I was there I mentioned this to them. They are yet to replace their booths. Sorry but whoever designed this made a huge mistake. I noticed even the most thin customers in the restaurants were visibly uncomfortable while eating. Each customer while first seated looked at the hostess like "can I have another table"? At Ozekis they will not greet you at the front. We stood and waited about 5 minutes to be helped before finally I caught someone's attention. He said to sign your name and they'd call us back. Long story short, Your restaurant seemed unorganized and we never did receive a call back. Also the server at ozekis wouldn't make eye contact with people, I found that to be pretty rude and also quite strange. Brio across the street sat us right away and the atmosphere was 10x better than ozekis. The service at Brios was top notch I'd recommend it over this place any day. read more

I am a vegetarian and very specific in my instructions. The lunch special had no combo of veg ramen with veg roll. I was asked to pay extra for avocado veg roll. Not happy as I feel there is enough vegetarian public these days so they should make specials available for all . I went out with friends. They served the rolls all in one plate veg and non veg!!! When the ramen arrived, it was less than lukewarm in temperature. I asked for no tofu and mushrooms. They added both but removed it when I requested. The staff is very nice but these are basic mistakes, should not happen. Still a new restaurant so Hopefully they will settle down soon. On the food, the avocado rolls were EXCELLENT. The ramen, very mediocre at best. Noodles were not tasty and there was no flavor to the soup bowl. I will go back just for rolls :)) read more

Was here for lunch. Small restaurant, they could not handle the volume. Waited for about 20mins. 1 waitress and the other is also bartander, cashier, waitress, all in all. Seated, table wasn't clean. Orders were taken and then 30mins later, the manager came by and retake our order. Waited for 45mins for food. Then suddenly this super loud music from the speaker, turns out to be a birthday song. We had the ramen, and it was ok but the chicken broth was a bit too salty that my son couldn't finish his ramen. Adding the extra spicy sauce helps, but it is quite petty for a restaurant to charge $1 for a side of spicy sauce that many Asian restaurants give for free. I can understand if it comes with one (it didn't) and you are asking for another "extra" sauce. And it is not unusual at all to add spicy sauce to a soup dish so definitely a turnoff (yes, we can afford the $1 but it was the principle). And except for the seafood ramen, the rest comes with Chasu (pork) meat. If you prefer chicken instead, there is an extra cost. It would be nice if you get a meat choice (e.g pork or chicken). This place strikes us as being petty, nickle and diming you on everything. My daughter had the Ahi Tower, and she said it was good. Service was so-so. We had to wave/ask a waiter to refill our water a couple times. Ideally, they should be checking and refilling on their own. Most likely we won't be back. read more

BEWARE: Eat here if you potentially want to disrespected by the sexist Korean gentleman who claims to be the manager of the restaurant. I have been to Ozeki 6 times now, and I keep wanting to root for their success as a new Asian restaurant in town, but every single time, I have been disappointed. If you plan to eat there during lunch or dinner hours, be sure to have a lot of time to wait. You will wait a long time to be seated, wait an exceptionally long time to order your food and to even get a glass of water, wait for a long time for your food to arrive, and wait a long time to get the check. Do not plan to grab a quick lunch here. And honestly, the food doesn't make the wait worthwhile. I agree with what the other reviews say in that their sushi rolls are tiny. You basically get half the order of a roll that you would get at any other sushi restaurant. Their service is terrible. The manager, who is a tall Korean gentleman that used to work at Sushi Zen, is the worst restaurant manager that I have ever encountered. I have ordered takeout from many times, to the point where the former female manager stopped by to greet me during one of my visits and to thank me for my continued support. Apparently, this manager doesn't work there anymore. During my most recent visit, they messed up my order for two of my chicken ramens. They gave me the wrong broth, when I specifically asked for the original chicken broth that they have been serving before. I called in after I got home and noticed the error. The Korean gentleman who is the manager told me that it was my fault that they got my order wrong and that he can't do anything about it. He said the only way he will fix this issue is if I drive all the way back and bring my entire order back for him and he will then replace it. He said, and I quote, "you need to bring the item back for an exchange at Walmart. You need to bring the item back for me to replace." This is the chicken broth that we are taking about. It is not the most convenient to drive with, and it is just inconvenient in general to have to drive back the distance. Their takeout containers do not hold the broth very well and I have had spills in my car in the past. I asked if it was ok for me to take pictures to show him, and he said no. Again, he gave me the Walmart example. My family and I have been in the food industry ourselves. If I ever received a complaint regarding our food, the natural response is to make sure that the customer is taken care of for our error. Never have I encountered such horrendous and disrespectful service from a restaurant. Pizza Hut and McDonald's, or any fast food or high end restaurant anywhere, would offer better service. I asked if I could speak with anyone else at the restaurant, or perhaps I can get a call from the owner of the restaurant, and this manager said no. He said that he is in charge and that I will be be allowed to speak with anyone else. Even though he finally offered to replace my broth, at this point, I didn't want to drive back and get it. It's not worth to have to deal with the misogynistic treatment from the management of the restaurant. read more

This place is really disappointing. I have tried it twice, once during the soft opening and it was not good, but i decided to give it a other chance. The second time was just as bad. The broth is basically flavorless. The chasu is overcooked and chewy. The eggs are overcooked. The sushi was thinly sliced and over priced. The jalapeño poppers were even managed to be screwed up,they were clearly precooked and warmed up. I really wanted to like this place and because it's so close, but it's not good. Your safety is a concern. I would stay away if you can't handle knives safely or keep forks away from eyeballs. Even your shoes could be a safety concern especially if you happen to step on someone who is wearing thongs. So please be careful even before entering into this fine 5 star restaurant. We decided to give Ozeki a try after seeing a recent article about Southlake restaurants in which Ozeki was mentioned. We walked in on a Saturday night around 7:30 (I had called earlier in the day but they said they do not take reservations) and we were seated quickly despite a wait for groups larger than the 2 of us. At first the staff was very attentive but after our order was delivered they didn't check back on us even though our drinks were empty and we were seated in an area a where our severs could definitely see us. I say servers because we had at least 4 different staff during a busy, one to bring meetups, one to take our order, one to bring the food, one to take the check. My husband and I each ordered 2 rolls and I also got some miso soup. The soup was fine, as were my rolls. My husband said his were good and one, the spicy California, was really good. Overall I expected more from the food and service but it was decent. read more

It's ok. The staff is friendly and it's a nice atmosphere. The gyoza were tasty, fried super hot so they were lights and crispy. Went on a Saturday and the nigiri sushi was a little sloppy and a little fishy. Also ordered a bowl of tonkatsu ramen, the broth is a bit thin and bland. If you have had good ramen this doesn't quite scratch that itch the way I was hoping. We'll probably come back to give it another shot, we were hopeful for this place. [Ramen] *4.5 Stars* The Nagasaki Ramen(Seafood Ramen) is sooo good. One of the best Ramens in the DFW area for sure. I also added the spicy sauce on the side for an addituonal $1. It give it a good kick to it and does not change the ramen flavor all that much after adding it which I really liked since the broth was pretty flavorful. Don't worry, the seafood is not overpowering to where it stinks like the ocean. It one of the best seafood ramens I have had. The portion is decently generous, I would say it was a 1.5 serving in size. [Sushi/Rolls] *4 Stars* We had the Rainbow Roll and the Southlake roll. The Rainbow Roll was average, but good. I like the Southlake Roll as it comes with some sauce and slices of jalapeños on the top. [Service] *4 Stars* The service here is average as the servers are young students with little experience. The owner does is pretty friendly and tries to ensure your experience at the restaurant is on par, which is why I decided to give it a 4 instead of a 3 star for service. My husband and I decided to try Ozeki on the recommendation of friends who had eaten there Christmas Eve. The food was delicious! We had spicy garlic edemame (always a fav) and jalapeño poppers to start. Those poppers were probably the best I've ever tasted. We opted for sushi rolls and they didn't disappoint. The volcano was my choice and can easily be eaten by two people. It was so good, I woke up this morning thinking about it! I gave 4 stars because of the drink menu. We both had a cocktail, which was mediocre and their wine list also needs better options. Otherwise, a great experience and we will definitely be back! read more
