I didn't see the eye doctor. Only the techs at the counter. It's really convenient location right inside Costco. Make sure you take a number from the dispenser so you get a place. No line here. As you wait they have several cases of frames lining the wall. The 3 or for section to the right are Men's frames the middle is sunglasses and the left are for women. It was busy so I had ample time to pick out some frames that my wife and I liked. The tech asked for the primary card holder. I did see online that you don't need to be a Costco member to use this location but I didn't ask. The tech also asked if we had insurance which we did and they covered some of the glasses. I decided to get two pair since the insurance was almost paying for one and since we are Costco members we get an additional 50 bucks off two pair. He asked if I wanted Progressive lenses which I have never heard of. It's what they call bifocals now. It takes getting use to so with two sets of glasses I could bet one of both and use the Progressive when I get used to them. He said they would be done by two weeks. Great . Update. The lenses were done in just over a week. They texted me just a bit before they closed on a Saturday and they are not open on Sunday so kind of a bummer. I ended up going on Tuesday to get them The worker was very professional and fitted my two pair of glasses nicely. Very friendly and said if there are any problems to come in and they would fix them. No rush and spent the time to make sure I was happy. She said I should use the progressive lenses first for two weeks to get used to them and then I could use the regular ones for driving if I wanted to later.

Courtney at the front has always been amazing and has never made me feel pressured into anything. (Side note: if you can't say no to the add ons, that's a YOU problem.) They are simply just presenting options and doing their job. There was only 1 time that I said no to any add ons because I had the same thought I'm sure many people have "do I really need this?" and once I received them, I realized how much it makes a difference! They offer a huge selection of frames, from basic styles to high-end designer brands - there's something for everyone. I've tried other places after moving away from Elk Grove, but nothing compares. As long as I'm in the Sacramento area, I'll happily go the extra distance to keep coming here.

She only works on Wednesday and Thursday so it's hard to fit an appointment into our schedule. We took time off today to get our eye exams. I go with my husband and we get back to back appointments. It's nice to have someone to carpool with as we are in Sacramento and the Optometrist is in Elk Grove. Today I got a contact fitting. It's not covered by my insurance and I was charged $25. She gave me a week's worth of contacts to try to make sure they are the correct prescription before I order a 6 month's supply. So far the contacts are feeling good, but it's only been 2 hours since I put them on. They are more comfortable then the ones I had a few years ago. These don't make my eyes tired or feel dry. I looked at glasses while waiting for my husband and found a pair I like and took a picture with them on. I like to shop around to make sure I find the glasses I like with a price I can afford. So, I'll take my time before I settle on a pair. My old frames are working well and I can see fine out of them so there is no rush. Unlike last time when my eyes changed so much that I couldn't see a year and 3 months out.
