First time patient here and I had a great experience. Scheduling an appointment was easy. I did it online. I made sure to come in extra early to complete additional paperwork as I was a new patient. Loved the appointment reminder email & texts messages. Make sure to opt in to receive those. Dr. Hien Trinh was very professional and explained everything. I had my eyes dilated and she made sure I had sunglasses before leaving as my eyes would be sensitive to the light. Both front staff were very helpful especially Desiree who assisted me with picking out my new glasses. My insurance allowance was only $120 so it was a bit of a challenge. The place I normally go to was not accepting people at the moment. I went in on a Friday and before my daughter left for college on Tuesday morning. Took my kids here for their first time eye exam. It was quite hard picking out frames as our allowance was $150 but there weren't much to choose from within this range. Service was good, however, I couldn't give them 5 stars due to variety of frames and I felt I would have to spend more than what my insurance would allow, meaning bound to spend out of pocket. Of course I can always take my prescription and order else where but for the free frames, I would still like a decent one. Please add more to your selection under $150. read more

First visit as new patient to this optometry clinic, was a good experience. Very good customer service over phone & in person . Helpful overall in billing, eye, frames, and contacts questions. The optometrist Dr. Thanh was really helpful, showing me a chart with numbers comparisons between Acuvue contact lens types. She was very gentle during the appt too, which was great. Myself and Im sure many others, get nervous generally when we go to medical appts. She was helpful and gentle enough so that I wasnt too nervous. Went through the eye puff machine where they test for pressure in the eyes, with a machine that blew a puff of air. Despite the sensitive eyes, I endured it. Nerve wracking but tolerable. Also did the dilation process with dilation eyedrops that caused pupils to be dilated - difficulty reading, sensitivity to bright light. But also tolerable and nothing terrible. They seem extremely busy on Saturdays , as I couldnt find any availability in the entire month. Fridays are also fairly difficult to find availability. Due to that, It's a good rule of thumb to book your appts in advance and know exactly what you want to go in for. In terms of payment options - they took FSA card, Im thankful for that! Something else super unique and impressive, is they post Special Hours in their Yelp webpage ! This shows times where theyre closed. Thats helpful, Im glad they have something like this . read more

I do not recommend this office. They incorrectly charged me multiple times and when I got glasses with single lens, they insisted that I needed to get polycarbonate lenses which are meant for kid's safety lenses. I was forced to pay $70 more. The customer service is lacking. My glasses were reading glasses so I did not need UV Or safety protection, and my prescription was low so I did not need the lenses to be light or thin. The optometric assistant knew this and still told me that I had to get polycarbonate lenses because the doctor said so. read more

I have been going to Eye Place for 2 years now and the service is always top notch as well as the office appearance being very clean. Everyone is super friendly and the Dr. takes her time to explain the process and is open to any questions you may have, which I like. I just had my 2nd pair of glasses and they needed some minor adjusting. I originally had set an appointment and I was in the neighborhood and asked if they could squeeze me in between their appointments (which is not a standard practice) and they were very accommodating. Customer service is terrible, especially the bigger receptionist. She is very rude with a big fat attitude to my family. I don't know why. She did not explain clearly my insurance to me, and claimed that I did not understand. In a business, patience and clear communication is import. Never apologies nor thank you, as she never learned how to say it. I had to give a credit to the doctor who explains it to me. However, my entire family will not come back to the place because of the receptionist's attitude. There are so many places that we can be treated better. Why would we bring businesses and money to you for such a rude and discriminating receptionist. She forgot that customers bring business and keep her employed. Recently moved to Elk Grove and while I loved my previous optometrist office, it is too far to continue to keep going there. Everyone here was very welcoming and helpful. Taking my business elsewhere!! I had an eye exam and opted out of having my eyes dilated but by the optometrist's recommendation I had my eyes dilated. I asked if I would be able to drive after my eye exam and was assured I would. I was able to drive back home with extremely blurry vision. I don't believe I should have been advised to drive after getting my eyes dilated but I'm assuming the optometrist was after more insurance money. My vision became so impaired that when I was picking out glasses I couldn't see myself in front of a mirror! I informed the rude receptionist I would come back to purchase my glasses a different day. Her response, "just take into consideration that if you come back and we're busy we'll make you wait outside." It was as if she was being helpful but at the same time being patronizing. To me it sounded like something obvious that I would have to deal with when the time came. It felt like the receptionist was upset I didn't get my glasses with them. I had full intentions of returning to purchase my glasses but it is more than evident that this place is just after your insurance money and loves to mistreat its clients. Did not like the optometrist's service nor the receptionist's service. Also, some months ago I had purchased my daughter's glasses here and they forgot to charge $15 additional dollars which at that time I didn't mind paying but had they done their job right I should have been given an accurate charge for her glasses at the time I paid and ordered them. I didn't want to give 3 stars because I feel like that's average and they were attentive, friendly and explained everything in an easy to understand way. (I'd set back-to-back appointments for my husband and I). I was a little disappointed upon arrival when I was asked to fill out all the paperwork again, because I'd taken the time to fill out the answers to everything weeks in advance online. It didn't matter, because I was given printed copies of the same inquiries to fill out again. (That alone would have warranted a 3 star review from me, because my time is very valuable and I hate wasting it, EXCEPT that the doctor was AWESOME). We were seen promptly, since we had scheduled appointments. She was friendly, and not overly clinical. That was nice. Dr. Trinh had a personality and my last optometrist left a lot to be desired in that department. I do feel like their prices are a bit high, but they really don't have generic frames. Truth be told, I think I paid about the same for my last glasses, and I had on the transitional lenses but not the anti-reflective coating. Last time, I had NO INSURANCE. This time round my husband's insurance brought the exam fee down to $10 from the $125 she quoted me sans insurance. But, my total is around $275, WITH insurance. I did add the transitional lenses AND the anti-reflective coating because I ALWAYS have my glasses on and I'd like to see my eyes in photos again! It's been years, LoL. The girls at the front desk seemed more than adequately trained, and I expect they have both been there for some time by the way they have their stuff down. I especially want to thank Alyssa for assisting me in picking OUT my frames. They had TOO many to choose from, so I narrowed it down, and she was straight-up and I'm pleased with what we decided on. Some customer service people do NOT know how to have an opinion and that can be frustrating, so thank you, Alyssa, for your cool confidence and helping me with a tough choice! Unprofessional customer service and communication to resolve a mistake made by an employee. Yes this is long but here's my experience (TIA for reading, and no I'm not normally "a Karen"). First let me ask you, as a consumer, how often do you make a purchase and are then called hours later by the business saying you need to pay more because of their mistake? Odd, right? Here's my story: I was called three hours after my sons eye exam and told I needed to pay $40 more for his glasses. This is after I already paid during my son's initial office visit. When I asked why, the young lady said when she went to process my son's glasses order, the system said my insurance told her to collect $40 more. When I said I was unclear how this happened as all copays and out of pocket costs were reviewed with me during our visit, she put someone else on the phone. The second woman was very crass in conveying the explanation. She said the young lady who helped us was new and admitted it was her employee's mistake and sharply asked, "so do you want the glasses or not, if you do, you need to pay the $40." She also said that if I had VSP insurance this wouldn't be an issue, but because I have Eyemed insurance I have to pay extra. She started to explain about VSP insurance coverage. Mind you, I don't get to choose what vision insurance provider my employer offers so this discussion about an insurance provider I don't have was very unnecessary and her tone was condescending. Neither person I spoke to apologized for their mistake and I was very confused by the rudeness with which the second employee was handling the situation. At this point in the conversation I was wondering why I was being treated this way when I did nothing wrong. Aggression toward me as a customer seemed a very odd way to handle this situation. Normally I would be understanding and would have easily paid the $40, but the disrespectfulness I was shown was very off-putting and made me take a different stance. I asked the woman to try to see it from my point of view as the customer and I felt it was bad business practice to call a repeat customer three hours later and demand additional payment for their employee's mistake without even an apology. I'll admit, at this point in the conversation it was not about the $40 but about the WAY this was being handled. She said she would talk to the doctor about it but don't count on the $40 being waived. Mind you, I did not request for the $40 to be waived by them. A couple hours later the doctor called me and was argumentative as well. She also admitted it was her employee's mistake with no apology. She said my son received the same services and glasses in 2018 and I should have remembered how much I paid four years ago. I was really taken aback by the doctor's statement. Again I felt I was being blamed for her employee's mistake. After some back and forth the doctor rudely said she would waive the $40 for this one time only because she "didn't want to make such a big deal out of something so small." At this point I'm thinking, if it's "something so small," then why not waive the cost without even calling me when it was her employee's mistake in the first place? Shouldn't this be taken up with the new employee that made the mistake and not with me as a customer? She also sternly said she was putting a note in my son's profile about this incident. Again, this felt like an attack for something that was not my fault, it was her employee's mistake. The approach the doctor and employees took in handling their mistake was shocking and unsettling. Maybe my experience was not the norm, but we will not be recommending this practice any longer to friends, family, and coworkers. As a business owner, you never know who is walking through your door as a customer. I happen to have strong ties with numerous people in the eyewear and vision insurance industry and I will be sharing this experience with them. read more
