I have seen several reviews saying Oxnard Mazda had changed since the new ownership, but I didn't want to believe it since I had such an amazing experience in 2021. Fast forward three years... lease is almost up... of course I'm returning to my beloved Oxnard Mazda. I am going to make a long story short, but the salesman [*****] (Name redacted- decided he's a young guy who needs more manners and customer service experience) ensured our family will never return to Oxnard Mazda. After ghosting me for almost 2 days, I called another dealership and got a better deal and he LOST IT! He sent me angry rude messages and essentially said it was my fault I lost the deal. I'm sure he will tell his manager a different story but I have the receipts and the bottom line is that his lack of transparency and poor communication lost the deal. Maybe he thought that because I'm a woman he could talk to me that way, or give me a crappy price and I wouldn't realize it? I'm still so baffled. I ended up at Bakersfield Mazda and saved over $60/month over what Oxnard had quoted me. The 90 min drive was more than worth it, and Bakersfield has a customer for life, which is sad because we thought Oxnard was that for us. (Adding another star because Oxnard service dept seems to still be great.) read more

Jorge, the manager is horrible at communication and follow through. I was trying to buy a car for my daughter started the whole process called the back to speak with him about closing the deal never even called me back. Also the place seems a little shady as they told me one percentage rate until I told them I was gonna go to my bank and use them then all of a sudden he said he could offer me a better rate and gave me the lower one. This is for the service department and management, I have no experience buying a car here. I took my Mazda3 in for its 40K mile checkup. I called a week in advance to reserve a loaner car and called to confirm one was available, only to be told they didn't have one the day of service. They ordered a Lyft for me to get to work, but closed before they ordered a Lyft back to retrieve the car (even though they promised to do so). I paid out of pocket for an Uber (it was the cheapest ride available at the time) and picked up my car from a sales person who wasn't instructed on how to reimburse me for the ride. Much later I realized the servicer swapped out my license plate covers for their branded "OXNARD MAZDA" covers without permission. After numerous phone calls with the service department manager I learned the original covers had been thrown away. He then referred me to the GM's assistant. She apologized and said they would reimburse the Uber. She also offered a free tank of gas (at their filling station) or a free oil change to make up for throwing away my covers, which were inexpensive but had a lot of sentimental value. (The service manager had previously suggested I find replacement covers on eBay, and was rude and dismissive when he suggested it.) I accepted the GM assistant's apology and Uber reimbursement, but declined the gas or oil change because I never want to go back there. I drafted this review before speaking with the GM's assistant and decided not to post it because she was nice and I would at least be paid back for the ride. That was until this morning when I received my reimbursement check for an incorrect amount. I provided the service manager with receipts for both the Uber and my 40K service to prove the day/time/amounts. Both the sales and service phone numbers I have went directly to voicemail which were full and would not accept new messages. Now I'm here on Yelp warning others. I'm not cashing this reimbursement check until they fix it. I'd rather drive the 5 hour round trip to my old service department in San Diego than take my car here again. read more

My local dealer is Neftin Westlake but I was up in Oxnard at Costco and got a completely flat tire. Costco didn't want to help beyond filling it with air, and Mazda was around the corner so I drove into the service bay. I was ignored and I just asked if they could put on my spare. He refused because he said my car had a recall and that they had to fix it or they couldn't help me with my tire. Normally I do not take the time to leave a review, BUT in this instance I find it necessary to share my PHENOMENAL experience at Oxnard Mazda. My wife has enjoyed her 2010 Mazda CX-9, for the past 11 Years. After 220k miles my wife decided it was time to purchase a New CX-9. While researching online, Torek with Oxnard Mazda proactively reached out to see if he could answer any questions we may have had. Torek was EXTREMELY helpful and was not pushy whatsoever. We test drove a few different models and decided upon the 2021 CX-9 Carbon Edition. While my wife and I were discussing how we wanted to purchase the car, one of the Co-Owner came out to introduce himself and to just say "Hello". I have purchased a lot of cars in my time, but never has an owner taken the time to come out and introduce himself. Josh the Co-Owner help find us the BEST deal possible and was able to reduce our payment an additional $20 or so dollars per month, and that was after we already agreed and signed papers for the higher payment. $20 per month savings is not a lot of money (not that we don't appreciate Josh saving us $20), BUT the fact that he took the time and effort to save us an additional $20 per month AFTER THE FACT, after we already signed papers at the higher price. WOW, WOW, WOW....NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE and then SOME ! ! ! Two days later we received 3 follow up calls from Oxnard Mazda 1st from the other Co-Owner Sarah, Josh's wife, just to check up on things and ask us if we had any questions, 2nd from Torek the original Salesman also checking up to see how everything was going and then the 3rd call was from the Manager of the Service Department, just to introduce himself and his Associates, just in case we needed anything. I had been looking for a car that I know has been harder to find recently. I contacted Oxnard Mazda and was connected with George from sales. I got really excited when he told me that he had found what i was looking for at a sister dealership and could have it transferred to them on the next Monday. He sent me the paperwork on all the specifications of the car and a sheet of my calculated finance rate info, and I made an appointment for that Monday at 1pm, and it was confirmed. The day of I texted him asking if the car made it there ok before I drove out...and was met with silence. So I called the dealership and was told by someone else that George wasn't even in that day and wouldn't be in until Wednesday. They told me they could still help me if he had gotten the car sent over and put me on hold. For over 5 minutes. When they returned they told me they had no record of George even ordering the car for me and they were going to call him and call me back. They didn't call me back. I call again and yet another gentleman answered and told me he would try and help me. Puts me on hold, comes back and apologizes but he had no idea why George told me what he did, that he couldn't get me the car at the moment and didn't know why George would even claim that and lead me on. Luckily Valencia Mazda swooped in and saved my day and found me something even better and were honest about the whole process. Then, a couple weeks later George writes me an email like I was a new customer and asks how we can make my car dreams come true. I wrote him reminding him who I was and asked why I had been lead on and ghosted. Again, nothing. I guess the lesson here would be similar to one one would learn on a dating site, ask for current pics and videos before committing to a date you would have to drive to and spend money on ....and he probably doesn't have the goods in the first place if he's just going to lead you on and ghost you. read more

Well, I referred a buying party (which I now regret) to this Mazda dealership in December. CESAR informed the buying party that that we (my fiancé and I) would receive a $100 referral check for referring that party. We were told by CESAR that we can pick up the check in 15 days. It's currently March, and we have driven back and forth many times to hear " sorry come back again". After 3 months of waisting gas I understandably got frustrated. Still haven't received the check. We were told that we would get $100 in gas aa compensation for the check (we were promised). Well we were told by FELIX, "I don't see that in writing". Are you kidding me? This conversation was on the phone, I was upset and no longer wanted to deal with Felix. 10 minutes later, a manager calls me and says " FELIX SAYS, if you leave a good review, we can give you gas". 20200607: Final update: went to another dealership to look at the rear window of other 6s. Checked out a few brand new 2020s. I found two parked right next to one another, no tint, and one has the same issue I was concerned about originally, the other does not. Apparently, this is an issue across the line but not consistent on every unit. From the dealerships standpoint, kudos to Josh. He's trying to do what he can to correct an imperfection the manufacturer should be resolving. read more

Service department needs $190 just to get started on your car. I took mine in with a common, well-understood problem but they still needed $190 to "troubleshoot" the problem. They wouldn't tell me if warranty covered it until they'd gotten their money. Then of course I was told there was no warranty. They had the car for about 30 minutes, only to provide pretty close to no service at all for the money. Not much value there. We just purchased our new 2022 Mazda CX5 Premium trim from this family owned dealership and couldn't have wished for a better car buying experience. Martin, our sales person, and Josh the owner made our purchase way less stressful than I ever could have expected. We never felt pressured to buy and they didn't try to upsell any options or accessories. Martin was very knowledgeable of the car's features and very patient in showing and explaining them to us. Martin took time to help all set up some features on our iPhone which was very helpful. Since the new owners took over Oxnard Mazda in 2023, the customer service experience has tanked. The old owner cared about his customers. This new owner REFUSED to honor the Tire & Wheel Protection contract I had purchased when I purchased my CX30 in May of 2020. After I tried to talk to them, they agreed to replace my tire, HOWEVER, they informed me that I could not have my vehicle back until they received payment from the Tire & Wheel Protection insurance company for at least 3-5 days if not longer. Does this sound like new proprietors of a business that want to keep loyal customers? I have had the car for almost 4 years and have never had it serviced anywhere else.
