My first time here and I will be back!! I had a greek omelet with just the right amount of feta, fresh tomatoes and lots of spinach. It was huge but light and absolutely delicious! The potatoes were some of the best I've ever had for breakfast. Great service and the interior is completely authentic. Loved it. read more

Owl Diner is the best diner I have been to in Lowell. However, having dined at some of the best diners around, I do have high standards. I did enjoy the atmosphere and the salty, down-home character of my waitress. I had a hash omelet with raisin toast and enjoyed it. I was surcharged $0.50 for raisin toast without prior notification, however, which was slightly annoying. Also, the waitress forgot to add up the check but being a CPA I was able to calculate it in my head. This restaurant does not accept credit cards (!) and I had to walk over to a local convenience store to withdraw cash. There seemed to be a lot of regulars at the diner that day, and from experience a diner with a lot of regulars is usually a good diner. It adds to the ambiance in my opinion. The restaurant appeared clean (bathroom included) despite the construction going on in front of the building. May have been 5 stars if the waitress was not so slow on my water refills. I did think it was funny when I moved my glass to the outside of the table to signify that I needed a refill, and she called me a "mover." read more

Love this place. Eat here usually once a week whenever I can wake up early enough. Omelets are good and so are the home fries. The hash isn't as good as other places though. If you've never been GO! This will become your favorite breakfast spot. read more

I absolutely recommend the Philly cheesesteak eggs Benedict! It has a Nacho cheese sauce which may sound disgusting but is awesome!

Love the food, its all the breakfast standards done well and in large portions. Service is speedy and the servers are always on top of the coffee refills. The place is busy on the weekends but I've never had to wait to be seated. Overall the place is everything you want in a diner. My only complaint is that they don't take credit cards. read more

Wow! Great breakfast. Everything was piping hot including the toast. We both had omlettes. They were filled with an excellent quantity of well prepared fillings. The homefries were cooked all the way through but not swimming in grease. The toasted english I ordered was toasted to just the right browness without being dried out. I LOVE this diner. Old school diner with a local feel. I love how the omelets are named by Lowell streets. Its "seat yourself" and I've literally never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table. My favorite omelet comes FULLY stuffed with cheese and corned beef hash, which is delicious and not offered at all restaurants!! Portions are big and prices are low-coffee is endless. What more could you want? Staff is friendly too! Every time I bring a new friend here they rant and rave about it. Definitely a go-to place for me and I highly recommend it! read more

Staff really rude asked for a steak medium- rare came well done, sent it back, waitress came back and told me it was medium rare according to the chef, and would I need it cooked more or less? I said pink/ red inside not grey please. I think the staff know that its a landmark place and always busy, so they do not really care about service too much, its take your order, throw the food down and give you the check at the same time. As a restaurant owner myself, I would never let my waitress hand the check at the same time as the food coming out, and I would check on the customer, from time to time, it felt like a big deal to get a refill on the coffee, by the time I got it, it was time to leave and I felt in the way. I give the French Toast a 5 the waitress I've gotten the 2 times I went there I'd generously give a 3. I understand working in a diner isn't the most ideal job I did it for two years back in high school but I always managed to at least fake a smile. Like some people have said can't give a cash tip. Well I go to pay credit can't give the tip. I don't even have my debit card on me. So I gotta run home grab money and bring it back. Good food good location I live nearby thankfully. I'm sure some of the customers give the waitresses attitude because that's what happens. People pay for service to treat the restaurant workers like lower class citizens. Just how society works. Overall I would recommend it just make sure you go in there with your biggest smile and at least a few bucks in your pocket. read more

I've been going here for years, and the service was usually decent. Today however, my girlfriend and I received the worst service of our lives. It was made clear to us instantly that us walking in with half empty iced coffees was the worst decision we could have made. I understand, but we came in with the intention of buying over $25 worth d food, and just happened to have a drink with us. Not a single thank you. Received dirty looks and murmurs from the staff through our entire meal. When we went to the front to pay, we watched over five minutes pass as staff members walked by with their eyes down. When I finally said a polite "excuse me" to a woman behind the bar, I was flashed the most aggressive look. I asked for someone to ring us out when they had a minute. She glared and said "I'll see if someone's free" Are you kidding me? I'm trying to pay and even tip for our garbage service and I'm bothering you? The entire front staff saw us standing there. Never, ever going back. Sorry for bringing in an iced coffee - I didn't realize that voids your need for paying customers. read more

believe it or not it was my first time here and i love breakfast and was expecting a great breakfast because of its reputation,i was somewhat disapointed, first off the glass i was drinking out of had a strange odor coming out of it,dont know if it was the glass or the ice(yes i had soda with my breakfast,not coffee,because i only drink ice coffee not hot) the scrambled eggs did not actually appear to be scrambled and fluffy,they looked as if they had been cooked as an omelett,then cut up with a knife,the bacon which i requested crispy,did come out perfectly crispy,no fat bubbles,without being burnt,but once again ,had a strange odor coming from them,the smell of bacon is one of the most wonderful smells in the universe,but this bacon somehow magically didnt smell like bacon,yes it tasted like it and i dont doubt it was real bacon but i have noidea wre the smell came from and no i dont have a sensitive nose and never have noticed strange smells coming from my food or glass before read more
