Come here almost every day, really great alternative to Starbucks. At first we figured it was better to support a local business over a corporation, but my coworkers and I also quickly learned the coffee's quality itself justifies switching to Overwinter. They roast the beans themselves, just these two guys you could easily talk to for an hour without trying to. Then there's the snacks. The biscottis are made out of used coffee beans, and you would think gross right? Wrong. It's ridiculously good and it lacks enough caffeine to launch you to the moon, twice. For the past three weeks (approximately how long I have lived in Buffalo), I have been following Overwinter Coffee on Instagram, because I challenged myself to follow every Coffee Shop in Buffalo, because.. well.. I love coffee. Today was the day I finally made it in to Overwinter Coffee. while my office does provide free coffee, it was a beautiful day to get outside and walk the 3 blocks to Overwinter. .. and I am a believer. By far, this is one of the best coffee shops in Buffalo. I appreciate Overwinter because they have a small menu and focus on what they do best - coffee. I got an Iced vanilla latte and a pop tart. YES. POP TART. it was flaky and not overly sweet like the boxed stuff. Highly recommend. You may even see me there :) read more

I picked where to stay in Buffalo based on my research for the best coffee place, and Overwinter made a great pourover. Barista was friendly. The mochas were not amazing, syrup wasn't very flavorful and the smaller size could have benefitted from an extra shot or two. I'm going to go back here before I leave Buffalo. The name is what drew me in to this downtown coffee nook. It's not December yet, but I'm already over winter. A warm cup of espresso in the morning makes all the difference, though, like a warm hug from an acquaintance you haven't seen in a while and bumped into on the street outside the office. You go into the work day briefly forgetting about the other nuisances of life. Not too much bad I can say about this place. My iced coffee was delicious. I am glad there are a few options to buy local around the Tim Horton's downtown. Many Buffalonians want their money going back into the small business economy, and so Overwinter's location is perfect for those who want to grab a caffeine fix on their way to the train. Their iced coffee is also cheaper than Tim Horton's I believe. I paid $2.18 for a small cup. You're paying slightly more than that for a TH cup. read more

This is a cute coffee place nestled in downtown Buffalo. The in house treats are darling and there are a variety of drinks on the menu. I went with a pour over and my friends ordered a latte and chai. I wish there was more seating in the space. This coffee shop is very cute and unique. It is very small inside, but there are some seats inside and then some seating outside. The coffee is of a higher standard, so the price tends to be a little more, but you are paying for better quality. I really enjoy the iced mocha coffee with oat milk, which was a recommendation they offered me. I also really enjoy the option for them to brew it there. I am not sure what the correct terminology is, but it really looks like a scientist experiment. They use beakers and hot plates to make your coffee, which is a new method to the Buffalo and Downtown area. What really makes this place great are the people. The owner is super friendly and approachable. They are fun and helpful. I appreciate when people are down to earth and really receptive to their customers. The atmosphere could not be better! Overwinter is a quiet cozy coffee shop. It's had about 3 chairs to sit by the window inside and 2 small tables for outdoor sitting. The owner is obviously very knowledgable in his craft. My friend who drank the latte said he usually does not order lattes because it is usually very milky but this one was not; which he enjoyed very much.The blueberry flavor was very evident in the blueberry coffee which was a nice experience. The only thing that was offsetting (which I can't say is the shops fault) was the window seating attracted a lot of bugs and that was all I was looking at as I sat facing the window. One even fell into my friend's coffee. I suggest not sitting at the seats facing the windows when the door is open. read more

Very nice place for your coffee fix. The owners are very friendly and have a true love for coffee. It shows when they explain why they started the business, and how they explain the coffee process. This is a small shop, so seating is very minimal. If your not at the rush hours, (8am, noon) you can sit at the window(4 seats) and even sit outside (2 tables) and enjoy people watching. My wife ordered their pour over coffee and enjoyed it very much. In fact, she was very impressed that it was not bitter. I had the chai tea latte, and normally I have it hot. I had the dry processed Yirgacheffe and was wishing the whole time that the cup wouldn't end - something I've never really felt when drinking coffee. I initially tried Overwinter Coffee when I ordered a cold brew at Roots on Hertel and was blown away by their Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (which they call "The Blueberry" because of the blueberry notes they conjure from these magical beans with their roast style). I knew I had to visit the place itself. They are in a very small venue downtown. We went on a Sunday (the first Sunday they had expanded their hours to be open on that day) and experienced excellent service from the gentleman behind the counter. We got a pound of The Blueberry to take home, some cold brew, and a decaf pour over for my husband. It is so exciting to find coffee of this caliber being roasted in Buffalo. I look for coffee shops for the experience along with good coffee. I went in very excited to try this new place. I was expecting sit down space available like most coffee shops in this city but when I walked in it is literally the counter to order at and a bar top against the window with three chairs to sit on. It's not a cafe where you can go in, grab a table and chill while you sip on a cup. I was pretty discouraged by that. There is a patio table outside but not really an option in this winter weather of course. I do love the blue shade around the place. I got a cappuccino to go. The coffee itself was on par, not too bitter, very smooth tasting. They had some basic snacks like biscotti, one or two cakes, muffins but nothing to order for food. If you need coffee on the go, this is a good spot for that but if you're looking for a cafe experience with food options and an aesthetic, this may not be the place for you. read more

It's Japanese style; they serve everything they make hot inna chilled version as well - which is great for me because I'm iced coffee kind of guy.
