If you haven't checked out Over The Moon Farmstead in Pittsfield you are missing out! We typically go for their bomb Sunday brunch but they dropped their new spring menu today so we went for dinner. My husband had a burger and I had a Korean chicken sandwich. We upgraded our fries to The now weekly rotating special fries which was a Parmesan dusted bacon ranch topped concoction of deliciousness. Ended our meal with their homemade berry compote cannolis which I got free for being an email member. Go check them out! They also have wood fired pizza and live music in their Barn. Had dinner at Over the Moon restaurant this evening, it was delicious. We had dinner, coffee and dessert. My husband also enjoyed a brew. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The dining room is bright and vast. It was an all around great dining experience. After dinner we moved to the tavern side and ordered drinks and listened to the live music. We are looking forward to a daylight visit because we can only imagine the view is spectacular. read more

We came to the restaurant looking for something exciting and new. We showed up and had to wait for 5 minutes for someone to seat us. You might think 5 min...there was only 3 tables with customers. Once seated it was another 10 minutes before our drink order was taken. Drinks , appetizers came out in a timely manner. As fro the main courses a different story. Both my wife and son ordered steak fritz with chimmichuri on top. We waited for over 25 minutes too get an over cooked dry slab of meat. It looked like the steaks were set under heat lamps waiting for the waitress to get the food and deliver. My son could see into the kitchen where the 2 waitresses were discussing something very important with the chef and not getting food out the door. 25 min to get our meals. To top it off there was NO chimmichuri to be found on the beef or on the side. Unfortunately the waitress never checked back so we couldn't have her go to the kitchen and get some. Extremely disappointed!! We actually had to go find our waitress to get our check. I really think 1.5 stars but you can't. Maybe next time we try the bar but reading some of the reviews maybe not. This place did NOT disappoint!! We went for the prime rib New Years Eve special. It was cooked to perfection and I liked that you get two thinner sliced pieces instead of one big hunk which is typical of prime rib. Au jus was perfect and on the side so you can add it to your liking. It came with potato croquettes which were crispy outside and deliciously creamy inside with the right amount of seasoning on everything! My husband had the Beer-Braised Osso Bucco, it was a rich and tender hearty filling dish with mashed potatoes and root vegetables, delicious! My daughter had the Caesar salad with house made croutons and real anchovies which is rare to get, they made the salad more authentic. Perfectly dressed. We shared the chocolate mousse for dessert and it was creamy with chips of decadent chocolate throughout. Topped with whipped cream and orange zest. Amazing! My wife and I were excited to visit Over the Moon Farmstead for our anniversary, which coincided with the opening of the hot air balloon festival. Unfortunately, staffing issues caused our appetizers to be delayed by an hour after we arrived. After the appetizer plates were cleared, we waited another 45 minutes for our entrees to be served. The wings and peach Caprese appetizers were very good. Once the main courses arrived, my wife thoroughly enjoyed the Seared Day Boat Scallop plate. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the Beer-Braised N.E. Wagyu Osso Buco--it was significantly overcooked, to the point that I didn't finish it. I mentioned the issue to our waitress, who apologized, but no further acknowledgment or compensation was offered. Wow, what a great place. Food atmosphere, rustic, clean and fun. The views spectacular. Patty was helpful and sweet. We had a couple different pizzas The Forager with roasted garlic, mozzarella, local wild mushrooms, red onion and blue cheese - yum! We also had a ricotta Italian meatball pizza fresh mozzarella, tasty meatballs and a delish red sauce. The owner stopped by to say hello with his dog Barley. Great to hear the history and passion. Just got back from over the moon farmstan.Restaurant first of all, waited in line for 25 to 30 minutes. For a beer. Then, moved on to the restaurant, asked what the soup was was told cheddar and cheese. Then, she came back and said it was Italian. Wedding soup. My husband picked out the scallop dinner. She came back and told him there was only one left. But the sides would be different. He did not want that. So he ordered what I did wagyu beef shank with mashed potatoes and carrots. It was the worst piece of meat I have ever eaten in my life. The first cut I tried to do. I couldn't cut through. There was so much fat and it was so tough. The carrots had no flavor yes, the mashed potatoes and gravy was good. Then, my husband ordered an apple crisp. He said it was the driest apple crisp. He has ever eaten in his life. Picture this...stars in my eyes...a look of bewilderment as I reflect on my experience at Over the Moon restaurant... The 5 stars I am giving makes me question any other 5-star reviews I've given. I smile at the thought of my Valentine's Day dinner with my husband. The pictures I have included give an idea of what to expect. I felt like one of those 'I take pics of my food' people when I'd grab my phone to capture the meal before it's touched. I wanted to make sure I can share with others what to expect in hopes they'd have the same experience. So, I am impressed that this restaurant & the tavern are 10 mins. away from my home (Barnstead) in Pittsfield, NH. It's definitely a place that you want to dress up a little & make an effort. I'm not bashing on the Pittsfield area by any means, but it's surprising how elegant this place is for the area. You can tell they take pride in making adjustments to make it somewhere you want to be. It's unique & I am sure this place will continue to take off as more people discover it (darn, should I even tell people how great it is & risk never being able to get in?) The average price per person for a meal is $21+ but completely worth it. A little bit of a backstory... We went to the tavern on a Saturday afternoon prior for a beer & snack a few weeks back. While there, we saw signage about making Valentine's Day reservations, which we immediately wanted to do before leaving. We were brought to the restaurant from the tavern to be greeted like we were VIP's! The manager, Pam (I believe is her name), made our reservations. She showed us around the restaurant. Her husband is one of the chefs. Let's put it this way... though the restaurant is not typically open on Tuesdays, they wanted to be open for V-day. The wait staff, each & every individual, was so kind & made you feel valued. Our waitress seated us at a table overlooking the view; it was beautiful. Being atop a hill (across from Appleview Orchard) it was relaxing & not the usual view you get from just anywhere. It added to the element of romance & a fantastic experience for dining. When my husband returned from the restroom, one of the chefs waved & said 'hi' to him with a smile. When we were waiting for our taxi to pick us up, one of the owners, Mike, made sure we were all set. He saw us standing in the entry & wanted to make sure we were taken care of. THAT WAS UNEXPECTED & VERY APPRECIATED. The food... WOW. It's elevated & fresh. Homemade tomato & pasta sauces are appreciated. The pasta is not made in house, but there's something about it where it tastes fresh vs. from a box. You can see the texture in my photos. We don't typically get dessert, but we figured we'd treat ourselves to the V-day special they had (flourless chocolate torte). Yup, we are going to be regulars. Been here a few times and really love the location and view as well as the food. I would have given 5 stars except the bar service needs to be addressed. It doesn't make sense to only have one person working the area given the fact everyone must go to the person to get your drink, order your food as well as having them assist in delivering the food when the runner is busy. Add to that, most times people are chatting, getting history lessons and getting flights. 20+ minutes is too long. read more

We were looking for a place to meet for dinner halfway between our homes and Pittsfield looked just about right on the map. So what looked good in Pittsfield? After looking on Yelp! We saw Over the Moon! We decided to give it a try since none of us had ever been in the area before. What a place! Beautiful location and buildings. Outdoor seating, big beautiful old barns and pretty landscaping. We were hungry and knew we wanted to talk in a quiet environment so decided on a sit down meal instead of the bar that had music and pub food. We ordered the Osso bucco, pork chop, salmon and scallops. We also started with the bang bang cauliflower as an appetizer. Every plate left the table clean! Everything was excellent! We stumbled across this place because they had a Groupon for a mead flight of nine meads and a mead pairing book. Michael, the owner, was short one book so he kindly offered to mail it to us. He then picked out nine meads for us to try. Each pour was plentiful. They also used compostable cups, woot woot! Us mead newbies enjoyed almost all the ones we tried, some notable favorites - floral symphony, stiletto, entice, Madagascar, red dress, sensual. Breathless had a kick to it so it was our least favorite, but those who enjoy fireball whiskey might like it. We were not rushed at all and spent a good deal of a rainy afternoon sipping mead, admiring the gorgeous views, going through some books and games kept for the patrons, and meeting their dog, Barley! As we were about to leave, Michael also showed us the pizza restaurant that is in the works, scheduled to open in a month. I cannot wait to be back because this place is going to be spectacular no matter the season. It is a must visit if you're in New Hampshire. Unbelievable meal tonight. Beer braised Wagyu Osso Bucco was outstanding. Staff was absolutely amazing including the chef!!!

We responded to a Facebook ad in which the owner was looking for local bands to perform. We are a duo of keys and drums. The restaurant was generous with drinks and food, however the Thai pizza made us both sick. We were booked for a two hour set. 45 minutes into the set the owner got in my husband's face as he was in the middle of playing telling him to quiet down because they couldn't hear themselves talk. I was already playing as soft as I could with brushes on the drums barely touching them and he was on a low volume. Fast forward 15 minutes and we were asked to stop playing. We were scheduled to come back and play in December but the owner said he probably wouldn't have us back because we didn't draw in a crowd. First off, I feel humiliated as a musician of 30 years. Secondly it's not all the bands responsibility to bring people to a restaurant. Third, we were playing Jazz standards which aren't loud. A good, established restaurant shouldn't have to make it all the bands duty to bring people there. The positive was that Lola was super nice and professional. read more

This is in response to the F's previous review. I was a customer in the restaurant last night while they were playing and I also had the chicken Thai pizza. Not once while you were playing did I see the owner come out and speak to you about needing to be quiet let alone be rude to you. Maybe he did ask you to stop early... what's the point of playing for the full 2 hours if everyone had left?? That being said all of our food was great. There was four of us that had the same Chicken Thai pizza and not a single one of us is sick. What did you eat before you went there? 11/24/24 was my second time there and both times had been great. I hope the people that read these reviews will go and check it out for themselves. Honestly some people just try to bash a place and ruin reputations before they are even made. read more

Went to moonlight Meadery about 10 years ago in Londonderry. We loved it then and saw their new location in Pittsfield so stopped in. The mead and beer is top notch, along with the service. Me and my wife sampled 5 meads each and they all hit the right notes. If you like beers, their coffee porter is perfect (light enough to have a couple). We split a pizza that was also as good as any I have had around NH. We were told they are opening a restaurant in January 2023 and are really excited to go check it out. Beyond the food and bevy's the location itself is awesome. Great views and the inside is cozy in the winter with a wood stove. Also have to give one last (and not least) shoutout to the owner, the chef, and our bartender/waitress. They were all very friendly and accommodating. We had a nice, long talk with the owner about his journey brewing and hot sauces. Can't wait to go back! read more

Beer was great. Food not so much. We got steak tips and chicken cordon bleau, both with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. The steak tips were cooked perfectly. My chicken was obviously not cooked to order as it was lukewarm at best. The mashed and veggie were also lukewarm. Why didn't we send them back? I expect my food to be hot when served. I had high expectations for this spot--upscale food not commonplace for the region as well as picturesque grounds and interior, but ultimately, we caught them on an "off night". I began with an espresso martini no Baileys and was disappointed that there was no foam. It was strong and good enough, just not properly shaken. We ordered the poutine and brussel sprouts to start. The fries were sharply cut but soft, which I enjoyed. The brussels were good as well but not my favorite vegetable so it's hard to judge. We ordered our entrees, and that's when things started to go south. I began to notice the long wait time, the other patrons getting food before us, to the point that other patrons started to leave that arrived after us. After a long while (too long) our waitress (who was very kind and sweet) apologized for the wait, assuring us they were waiting in a few vegan bowls my party had ordered. More time went on. At this point we're the only ones left in the restaurant. The food finally comes, and my red snapper was a bit cold, dry, and had been left out for some time. Bafflingly, they replaced ingredients (quinoa instead of risotto, green beans instead of asparagus, mismatched veggies on the vegan bowls) which they never acknowledged. We said something, and the owner came over and quickly sent the chef over instead. She apologized, said they were having an off night, and the owner offered us our pick of desserts. We got the lava cake and the Easter scones saved for brunch tomorrow. These were good and almost made up for the issues. At the end of the night, we were all a bit confused and disappointed since the apparent quality and service commands their higher price points, but we were upset to see them miss the mark. Let me tell you about this place, my mom, a friend and I went there last night. We had been to the taproom before and was trying the restaurant for the first time. Berniece, Mike's Wife, met us at the door and let us know that there was a bit of a wait due to a large party just being sat. I love that she was upfront managing expectations about wait times and offering a solution for while we waited. She brought us to the Taproom so we could enjoy their brews and live music while we waited for a table. Joshua, the bartender in the taproom, is knowledgeable and great for suggestions if you are not use what you want. We got a Berliner Wiesse beer(may have spelt that wrong) and their in house made, non-alcoholic root beer. The space was relaxing with chairs and tables for groups of all sizes and the live music was getting ready to preform. In the taproom, you can peruse their stock of Meads and Beers to purchase to enjoy home. I personally recommend their Desire and Sensual Meads. It was not long before Berniece came and got us to head to a beautiful dining room that also offers outside patio seat. Due to being on the top of a hill there was no need for AC on that humid night they had all the windows open and ceiling fans running letting the refreshing breeze fill the space. In the restaurant, you maybe looking for harder alcohol or non-mead wine which they have behind their bar where my friend was able to get a Tito's and Cranberry. Amber, our waitress, was exceptionally friendly, attentive and wonder addition to the great atmosphere they have cultivated at Over the Moon Farmstead. As for the food, we started off with the Cheesy Poutine Fries. We wanted to try the Taproom Pretzels with Beer Cheese but they were sold out from the day before. That sounds like a hint that they are a popular item and will have to try them next time. Back to the Fries, the portion was the perfect sharing size to not ruin your dinner. My mom got the Brisket Dinner. The beef brisket was fork tender. No need for a knife. It came with 2 different BBQ sauces you can apply depending on your taste. One tasted like the Memphis style honey BBQ sauce that also come on the Cowboy Burger (which I will get to). The other was a Texas Style BBQ sauce with a nice kick of heat to it. Mom normally is not a fan of German style potato salad but truly enjoyed this perfectly cooked side. My Bestie had the Sweet Nashville Chicken Sandwich. The breading was crispy with tender chicken on the inside. The brioche bun did not get soggy with the hot honey drizzle. The plate was completed with their hand cut fries. I had the Cowboy Burger, no cheese. The Memphis Style Honey BBQ sauce paired very well with the saltiness of the bacon and that same delicious brioche bun. I also had a second beer by the name of Munich Helles. I recommend both beers. Berliner Wiesse is a crisp lighter beer. Munich Helles had a stronger hops flavor without being an IPA. Everything thing was incredible. Unfortunately, we left no room for dessert this time. Other things to note about things we did not order but saw. Their salads were huge and very sharable if you are willing to do so. The flatbread pizzas look amazing. I was a little jealous I did not go with the Steak tips. That will be a next time order. They do offer a limited menu in the taproom if you are not looking for a full restaurant experience. Afterwards, we went outside to the picnic tables behind the taproom enjoyed the veiw and the breeze. We met the Owner Mike and had a fantastic conversation. Absolutely recommend this place for the food, drinks, views and vibes. read more

Fabulous scenic spot for some delightful Amish cheeses, a mead flight and a rest after a few hours of driving. Ayla behind the bar was extraordinarily helpful, knowledgeable and kind, as we aren't mead experts by any stretch, but then owner Michael came out to personally check in and sat to talk for 40 minutes. We had a great time with friends around a table in the rustic bar area. The beer was great, I recommend the #9 Pilsner. Pizza is the menu and it didn't disappoint!!! Delicious!!!! We loved the yellow lab that was roaming around, and they played jut-box bingo. We came when it was 11 degrees out, looking forward to a visit in the summer where we can sit outside and enjoy the sunset and beautiful view. Chilly inside would have loved a space heater to get toasty. No complaints though, l highly recommend checking it out. read more
