The City of Paulsboro is desperate for something bright and new so this mini-grocery store's shining edifice along a highway of despair is truly needed. No, this is not the mirror image of those convenience stores named after the rolls of dice who offer a few dusty grocery items amidst old crusty frankfurters on heated wheels but most familiar labels do go missing amongst your options. Curiosity linked directly to $5 off a $25 purchase coupon on a day when I needed about $30 worth of groceries enticed me to travel the 2 mile journey southwards. The fresh tar scent rose on this hot day from the deep dark colored parking lot highlighted in freshly painted outlines of parking spaces! Everything was bright and shiny even the concrete building appeared to have been placed polished. Entering through the entrance/exit door combo that on some future date risks customer collisions one immediately is in the land of fresh produce. Ok it is more like a produce corner because the options are few because after all this is not a full service grocer. But bananas are being sold at last century prices, which is pretty cool and the employees all are smiling. If there is one glorious consistency at this Save a Lot it is the smiles and care for customers demonstrated by every single employee I observed. I even felt the positive vibes as a management type directed his new employees in their tasks. Make this a hallmark of this business and people will look forward to their grocery shopping. Prices throughout the store are reasonable but they don't offer classics from world renowned labels. I was disappointed not to find V8 juice amongst the choices. Their frozen (at sea perhaps) seafood was a great bargain even though not one itsy bitsy shrimp reached my cart. Meat items adorned in plastic protective enclosures were butchered elsewhere but seemed quite popular with my fellow shoppers. The shelves were neat and items stacked in their shipping boxes. Gleamingly clean floors and freezer cases that you can actually look through all added to the appeal. The good news I found everything I needed. After all I was only shopping for $30 worth of stuff ... I actually bought a few bonus items. The bad news ... this store's limited produce and small selection of meat options will not entice me to change my food shopping habits, This poverty entrenched small city along one of America's broken highways deserves the hope offered by a bright shiny well managed business that provides jobs and good customer service. This store during Grand Opening Week might be a boost this community needs to reverse directions and its owners deserve credit for apparently doing everything the right way!

I think they get overstock items, and almost expiring items, and sell with a huge discounted price. Their produce are hit or miss, but their dry pantry items and sometimes dairy are good. When it first opened about a year ago I think they put in effort with their customer services, etc. However, one year in things have been slipping. I think they have about 6 registers, but the other day only 1 was open and there were about 7 people in front of me waiting. There were other employees, but they did not open another register until it was almost my turn. There are about 2 employees who are really friendly and helpful. The other employees are there doing their jobs and don't want to be bothered. With all that said, I think it was a much needed grocery store in West Philly.

I met the owner at a Yelp event and stopped at the store after the event. The owner is super nice. The staff were too. The store is well lit, clean and easy to navigate. It stocks national brands and some unique ones too. The prices are better similar to Aldi and Lidl. The cheese section is an inexpensive way to build a charcuterie board! Such a variety! I bought a round of individually wrapped Brie wedges. They were creamy and delicious. The fresh fruit was well stocked with good prices. I will definitely be back!
