I've been here many times before but this last time...yeah it required me to delete my GOOD comment and put it with this one. There is a girl who frequents this spa who openly talks about her life with jesus and how she changed, no longer on drugs, booze, etc. I was sitting there shocked. The owner was filling my nails, in quite the rush, I guess her boys needed to go to a class? I'm not sure. But I came here and let her know that I could come back at a differrent time, she said no that she would take me. Then she started talking smack about all her clients....she was so tacky and unprofessional. About 45 minutes later she puts my nails under the uv light and it looks just OK right now...so I sign the credit card form and give a somewhat decent tip...and she took off with her boys in the SUV that is illegally parked infront of the salon. I walked outside and see that they looked HORRIBLE! the fill job was so bad that I wanted to go back in there and just ask them to take it off, that would have been an extra 30 minutes and I needed to get home..I have never come back here... First of all, I am a mani/pedi noob, but I know good service when I receive it. Saturday afternoons seems to be peak hours for mani/pedis since my friends and I were turned away at another nail salon before stumbling across this one. However, we were immediately greeted and seated upon walking in. The staff is friendly and tentative, but what I appreciated the most was the time they took with us. Even though plenty of other customers were waiting, they still took their time to make sure we received quality service. On top of that, great location and I'd say it is pretty fancy place! I think the prices are fair...not dirt cheap but not breaking the balance on my bank account. I returned three weeks later and brought my mom who loved it! I'm pretty sure I'll be a regular here. I really hate writing bad reviews, but I honestly will not go here again or recommend it to anyone. The only reason I went was that I had a gift certificate. I made an appointment for a facial because it's something I would never pay for on my own and thought it had the potential to relax me like a massage, which I do pay for regularly. The woman that did my facial was very nice, but it was extremely clear to me as soon as the facial started that she was not well trained or really into what she was doing. Her method was clunky. I felt like she was just slapping stuff on and wiping it off with a bunched up tissue. I started to get worried about the quality of the products she was putting on my skin because I didn't get the sense that they cared what they used. Another huge red flag was the muzak. Seriously. Really bad instrumental hits of the 70's. It wasn't the worst possible experience. Hopefully the owners and staff will clue into what it takes to create a really good service experience. read more

I have gone to many salons for pink and whites and never really realized what a crampy job other shops do. Joey does the most awesome clean job sets and his fills!!!! You can't even tell that they are just a fill. BUT make a appointment first during the week so he can have time to do it right, you will be very happy. I just moved to the Area and this salon is very close to my new home and I decided to try it out yesterday. I am glad I did. I made an appointment and Kayla first did my wax, which was really well done and then my pedicure and Joey tended to some broken nails and did my acrylics with gel polish. They did a really good job and have the latest Nail drying machines that really cut down on wait time for gel polish. I enjoyed my visit and will definitely go back. Need to know is that they prefer checks or cash but will take credit cards. read more

I'm not someone that usually complains, I just don't like to deal with it and rather stay quiet, but oh man, for being my first time here, they did such a horrible job. I'm not a very picky person either, but the quality of their work is not good. I got a gel manicure and some fingers had big blobs of the gel polish and did not feel smooth. When she filed at the end, she removed some of the gel polish and when she tried to repair it, it looked worse and very thick. The pedicure was also horrible. The lady missed the edges of the toes and when she went back to put polish where she had missed it, it looked worse because she put the polish over the last clear coat, so you were left with two different finishes. Oh man! Even then, I was still nice and said it's fine, it's fine. I don't think they can do much to fix the gel manicure because once it's already on, they probably have to grind it down, and well, that's a lot of damage to your nail. Needless to say, never coming back! Like I said, I'm not like a perfectionist and looking at every little minor detail, but their quality of work is not good. The worse part is that she kept on saying that it's because I have small nails. Like since when can you only do quality work on long nails? read more

I've been going to OV Nails for about 4 years. Never had a problem with the staff, and I have developed a great relationship with the owner, Joey, and his wife, Kayla. Their spa is very clean, and if I don't like the way something looks on my nails Joey and Kayla will redo it, no questions asked. Joey does great full sets and fills, while Kayla always does fantastic pedicures (she does nail art too) and waxes my eyebrows perfectly. Their prices are fair, and I prefer them over any other nail salon in the area since I have tried them all (lived here my whole life-25 years). They also have an extensive collection of gel and regular polish and have some beautiful pieces of jewelry for sale in the salon. I was actually not unhappy with my local nail salon, but I happened to see OV NailSpa as I drove towards Hueneme on Victoria Avenue. I was curious, called and scheduled a pedicure and new gels. Joey was friendly over the phone, and appreciated the scheduling of an appointment, but they are not required. There is plenty of parking, the salon is new, clean and decorated in a stylish, relaxing mode. Their prices were comparable to other spas, and they have several price selections, but I felt the service and atmosphere was great. The trick is to try to visit when they are not completely busy. I was there on a Monday evening and I felt completely pampered. My only question is where are the massage chairs? I was looking for the controls on my pedi-spa chair and didn't find it. But, it will not prevent me from returning. read more

Typically when I get my nails done I do the dip, three coats. Here she gave me two coats and I said "no I'd like three please" but she continued to argue with me saying three is too much and doesn't look natural (anyone who does dip knows you're going for durability not natural, otherwise you'd do gel) so she said it's too late and just did the two. I didn't want to put up an argument like most clients feel, it's awkward. So I pay my total. I can already see the lines of the overgrown pieces of nails and the lifts on the sides from not being filed correctly. I should've confronted the situation there at that moment but like most clients I was too shy. Less and a week later my nail has already chipped, and I told them I live across the country and I was just visiting my sister, so I call and tell them I want a refund or something for just the manicure, not the two pedicures I paid for. The manager continues to argue and say that's not how we do business and tell me I'm wrong and all this. I offer to send pictures, videos, whatever I can from Florida to prove that I'm not lying. He continues to say no and argue with me. As if I can jump on a plane and show him the less than great job one of his employees did. Do not go here. They disrespect clients and accuse you of lying. Bare in mind it's been LESS than a week since going and in already chipping. He keeps saying "dip is suppose to last two to three weeks" which I'm fully aware of, so explain to me why it's not even if you know it's suppose to last longer? read more

As a person who's job is to provide customer service, I recognize when great customer service is provided. I live on the other side of town, and with all honesty I rather drive a few miles to this nail shop all because of good service provided by Mr. Joey! Yesterday, my sister and I wanted a mani late at night, and even-though they were closing already, Joey reopened around 8:30 pm, that is an hr and a half past their closing shift, just to help us!! He is a very pleasant guy who knows how to take care and please clients. My mani looks great, and I also received the best hand massage. They really did a great job even when they were way past their closing time. They also suggested that next time we park in the loading area, instead of parking far (VIP parking) :). When I got there I had to wait almost an hour after my appointment. A guy who works there finished a lady's nails and then came up to me and asked if I was in a hurry. I told him yes and he said what is the latest time you need to leave here. He then proceeded to take the ladies boyfriend and give him a manicure while I wanted another 15-20 mins. This made my day very stressful, as I had a previous appointment. And too top it off I heard another guy say "see we shouldn't have gotten our nails done...people are waiting who had appointments." Hit or miss. Last visit was a HUUUUUUGE miss! Pedicure was ok but not worth the money. They have been skimping on the massage time as well. I paid $52 for the pedicure and feel cheated. I got a full set of powder nails and they are HORRENDOUS. I was cut on 4/10 fingers and they look awful. 7/10 nails have visible bubbles and all no attention was given to the underside of 10/10 nails. I came here for years but I will never come back. My friend booked us appointments for my birthday today and when we got there I told the guy (I'm assuming he is the owner) that I wanted a manicure plus his advice on what I should get to fix some broken off nails. I told him I prefer the most natural look and I'm not a fan of pink and whites because they are rather unnatural. Well that was his exact suggestion.. White tips with acrylic. He explained that he would do it right and it would look natural. So I trusted him and I was wrong in doing so because not only did he just give me run of the mill acrylics with white tips, he did a god awful job at it. I have my cosmetology license so I know for a fact that he could have just used sticker forms under my natural nails... Instead of putting white tips.. But I thought oh what the hell he knows what he's doing. Nope. Wrong. On top of that he was rude through the process and never even gave me the manicure. After he asked me if I wanted square or round, I said I wanted round because at that point acrylics are acrylics.... Might as well make them look less fake by shaping them up.... Well this seemed to frustrate him and he just started hacking away at them... My fingers are so sore now and the nails are not cute. They're uneven, bulbous, and all around ugly. When I told him I wasn't very happy about them, he said,"but they do look natural, ask your friends!".... Dude, who cares what my friends think?? They're not the ones wearing them! Ugh so much went wrong and I'm not at all happy. Just gotta wait till they grow out now I guess... Never going back. Happy birthday to me. read more

This place could have so much potential. When I walked in I was escorted to a chair with freezing cold water and asked to put my feet in it. I said no way, they changed the water temp. Horrible Customer Service and Manicure Quality Positive Feedback: (1) Shop was decorated with calm-like decorating. Negative Feedback: (1) No reference on wait time was given to me and I ended up waiting about 20 minutes. (2) I got the basic manicure (which is no message). She cut a portion of my cuticles and then proceeded to put the nail polish on without washing my hands off (which were sticky). (3) After she was done, she put me in front of the fan and stated that I did not need UV lights for my nails (first time ever). (4) When I took a look at my nails, she painted my nails missing the edges. (5) She did a horrible job doing any of my cuticles and I had to do my own cuticles and I could have painted my own nails instead of paying someone to do it poorly. (6) There were three little children (belonging to one of the employees, whom were working) running around the shop which counteracted with the calm-like environment. They did not polish my daughter's nails all the way around or paint them all the way either. This salon is fairly new, fresh and clean inside. They only use OPI and Essie polishes which is very important to me as I have become a bit of a nail polish junkie over the last year. My fill and pedi was done by Catherine and I wasn't impressed. She is a sweet, god-fearing woman but I wasn't moved by the job she did. On my pedi, one foot was filed round and the other square. On my fill in, the shape was nice, but the acrylic itself was pretty thick. Also when she polished my nails she didn't believe in taking the polish down closer to the cuticle and so it look as if my nails hadn't been filled at all. To her defense, she does my aunts nails and my aunt loves her job. She can go a full month without having them filled in. I'm sorry things didn't work out better on my job because I love the location and she was such a nice person. read more

Went in for the first time today. They were busy but friendly when I walked in. Joey greeted me and asked what I wanted and he had me choose a color and wait for maybe 25 minutes. I was a walk in. He got me seated as soon as he finished with another lady. He completed the job in a very nice manor and did exactly as told. He is very friendly and doesn't make things feel awkward like other nail artists. He did a fantastic job but he cut me once. But I had a hang nail. I highly recommend Joey to do nails.
