What started out as a wildlife refuge tour by boat was really a fabulous waterside tour of contemporary Savannah because you get to see all the industry that makes the city, the state and even our country possible. You will get to see container ships loading and uploading, paper making, brown sugar off loading, and even the outfitting of the super yacht, Spectre built for John Staluppi. The wildlife included a couple of raptors, a cormorant, a snowy egret as well as a great egret. We watched a guy fishing for shrimp at low tide who then turned around and catch a really good sized fish. No bald eagles but some promising nests. Rather than cancel our trip they still took just the two of us for three hours up the river. We were in good hands with Captain Boo, a USCG captain! Even though we dressed for the weather, he had blankets and even a knit cap for me. Very informative trip and well worth the cost. read more

I cannot recommend the Port Tour with Outside Savannah enough! I not only learned so much about the ports, but it was amazing seeing River Street from the river along with being able to see the container ships up so close! The tour was so informative and fun! My group of 7 women took the Daufuskie & Page Island 5-hour tour led by Captain Ryan and we absolutely loved it ! He was very knowledgeable about the habitat and history of the islands. Our trip included a golf cart ride around Daufuskie Island ending at the marina where I learned what a "scrap iron" was. Sweet tea & corn whiskey! I would highly recommend this tour and request Ryan. Our Captain Peter was amazing. At 1030am He took us out from River Street Savannah to Dafuskie Island, pointing out historic places and pretty birds and dolphins! It took us about an hour to get to Dafuskie which was a great amount of time to be on the boat and have drinks with my bachelorette party. We then got to the docks and drove two golf carts out to the private beach where we enjoyed ocean time for about two hours. We hopped back on the golf carts, drove past a small winery where we had a quick taste, then stopped at the island's cafe to get amazingly fresh grouper sandwiches and shrimp tacos. We ventured back to Savannah rounding out the day at 330pm. I definitely recommend this charter and Captain Peter! read more

Wonderful overview of Savannah's riverfront and port area. This is an opportunity to get up close to the cargo ships that move goods in and out of the east coast. Captain John is knowledgeable about the area and vessels moving in and out. He stays current on what ships are in port and what they are used for. Highly recommend. read more

Our bachelorette group of 5 had a great experience on our trip with Captain Ryan. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the history of the area. Our trip was a 5 hour private charter and included stops on Page Island and Daufuskie Island. Captain Ryan found several great spots on the way back to Savannah for dolphin viewing, which was the highlight of the trip for me. read more

My husband and I did the Savannah Wildlife Sanctuary/Port boat tour with Captain Peter. While I appreciated the itinerary and access to the wildlife sanctuary via boat, I don't pay for these tours to get three hours of one person's political views thinly veiled as "interpretation". His natural history interpretation was lacking at best, so if you already have a good working knowledge of birds and other wildlife, this is not the guide for you. As this was my first visit to this part of the States, I had hoped for a pleasant ride out to a beautiful area with a knowledgeable guide. Disappointing, at best. Perhaps one of the other guides would be more suitable. read more
