I tend to visit Outside Coffee Co whenever I visit home, this last time was no exception! It's not particularly because I love their coffee, but because it's attached to Woosah, which I always have to visit when il back in GR! Coffee and service are good, relatively straight forward and classic menu. I usually get cold brew. They also have adorable stickers and other items for sale. They offer a great outdoor space which sports "igloo" style domes in the winter. So wonderful place to enjoy a beverage with a friend and a great spot to visit when on Wealthy or in the vicinity and need a pick me up. read more

Very cute and unique coffee shop. It's a coffee truck that has outdoor seating all year round. I got a honey lavender latte and loved it. I also got a chocolate croissant. It would have been better warmed up but it was very tasty and pretty big, which was nice! They were very quick and the people were very friendly! This place is SO cute. If you are in town for the winter, you should visit this place! This is one of the very few coffee places in town where you can bring your dog along. Granted, it is outside, so it naturally lends itself to being pet friendly, but still! The set up was really cool - they had little bonfires, with seats placed around them. When we went, they even had igloos set up. Inside each igloo was a round table with blankets on each seat. I was impressed by how clean the set up was - it had been snowing for the past couple of days, but the inside was not slushy at all. Because you could zip the igloo door up all the way, so you can let your dog run around without worrying he/she will escape - but make sure you zip it up all the way!! There were also some heaters on the top, so it actually started to feel nice and warm after being in the igloo for 5 minutes. Their current menu just has coffee, non-coffee, and dog treat options, but I know their menu changes so it could be that for other times, they may have some food. Check out the seasonal section in their menu! I got the hot cocoa and it was good! Nothing too special, but it was a nice warm drink. My friend's dog got the Pumpkin bone broth and absolutely devoured it, so it looks like it was a delicious treat. I would recommend checking out Woosah (which is next door) after you hang out at Outdoor Coffee Co. Outside Coffee Co is one of our fav spots in GR for many years now and a great place to bring family and friends that are visiting from out of town. We have been here in all seasons and really appreciate the concept of spending time outside with loved ones. Winter: Love the igloos with the little heaters. Right after the lockdown I remember it was really hard to rsvp a spot because it was fully booked. Autumn: Gorgeous views with little fires going. Summer: We love the affogato. Their vegan ice cream is delicious. I must say though back then we had to call and ask if their ice cream machine was working because there were two times that we went and it wasn't working. So tip: Ask ahead in case that's what you're going there to try. Spring: It currently has one igloo up with the rest ready for warmer weather and the fire pits. Matcha oatmilk latte rating: 3/5 It was really sweet, could definitely taste the oatmilk more than matcha. It was very frothy though! My favorite thing is there affogatos. My dad recently tried their cortado and said he liked it. Overall it's a must! Plus they have hot chocolate for kids and are pet friendly! read more

This place has gotten better. I remember trying it a few years ago and thinking (as a picky coffee drinker) that it was nothing notable sans its vibey trailer igloo decor. But after returning to GRap for the first time in a while and frequenting both the GRap and Douglas locations, Outside has quickly risen to one of my favorite coffee spots in the city. Their espresso is FANTASTIC and whatever oat milk they use is light enough texture-wise that you feel refreshed rather than bogged down drinking it. Today I ordered the rose cardamom latte, iced with oat milk. I got in my car, took a sip, and literally yelled "THIS IS SO GOOD." Haven't had many scream-worthy lattés lately, either, so you know it's a winner. Overall, consistent coffee, awesome vibes, great people. Kudos! read more

We came here on valentine day. The reservation service was easy. Good service and you can tell they love what they are doing. Here you can find friendly Smiling faces and very respectful treatment. We were seated in the center igloo. Very clean and looks nice. We ordered Nutella hot chocolate, it was ok, but I couldn't taste the Nutella flavor. It tasted more milk than Nutella. It wasn't sweeten as well. So, We went back to ask for a better made Nutella hot chocolate cup, but they offered vanilla syrup instead. Humm Anyway, They have very good taste in music. We enjoyed listening to jazz while we spent 30min there. They offer 30 min only for igloo reservation. I would given them 5 stars rate but i think the drink making need to be improved. We LOVED it here. The ambiance is insane, the baristas were SO kind and helpful, their merch is awesome and the coffee was delicious - highly recommend their in house made vanilla syrup. Usually vanilla is pretty basic but I loved it. They are connected to a super cool shop. We will be back in all seasons. Just so, so fun. Come be with a group of friends around a fire or by yourself. I've been going to Outside Coffee Co for quite some time now and yet I never wrote a review. Outside is one of my favorite coffee places to go to. Not only are the staff super friendly, but the drinks are also delicious and there's a lot of options! My go to is usually the grasshopper (a matcha latte) with oat milk. They also have a little treat for your puppers too! In the fall and winter time they have fire places and also heated seating areas with blankets to keep warm! I recommend going a bit earlier on the weekends as they tend to get busy! read more

My body can't even handle caffeine, but I made sure to take some timed during my short time in GR to make a pitstop here based on the name and fun photos. Just as it suggests, it's an outdoors coffee shop. You order from a food truck and everything is made inside as well. The outdoor patio area is great for dates, hangs, and even meetings. It's also dog friendly which we appreciated. I ended up ordering a non-caffeinated drink. Sadly, I cant remember what I ordered (and that should say something) bit I remember it being a-okay. My plus 1 was not a fan of his coffee at all and even ended up throwing it out which never happens. I went back and also got a four-pack of their branded instant coffee packets. After we left the city, we realized that they were months expired. Messaged the crew and they refunded and said we'd have to go to the roaster to get a replacement. Nah, esp when we aren't from the area. Worth noting that this isn't the most accessible either. The counter is very high up. I'm sure they'd accommodate (they have to) but worth noting. TLDR: love the branding and the outdoorsy vibes and patio, not a huge fan of their drinks (at least from the two we tried). Def want to try something new next time! read more

The best thing about this place is the ability to sit...wait for it...outside! There are a multitude of table options plus hammocks and fires and all sorts of goodness! I didn't walk inside the building but I'm assuming there are things to purchase (no restrooms though so pee before!). The coffee drinks were good. Couple minor issues: pretty sure my drink and my partner's drink were mixed up but since we shared; who cares. However, I did notice two other misses after us. Also, there was a menu for pastries yet no pastries were available and this was on a Saturday afternoon. That was a bit disappointing but it happens. Went here for some ice cream on a Sunday afternoon and it was amazing! Their ice cream is cashew based which is super nice given that I try to avoid dairy. I got the cookie flurry with soy milk and it was fantastic! It wasn't too heavy but also wasn't runny, and there was a perfect amount of cookie dough and Oreo chunks in the flurry. The outdoor seating is currently very similar to how it was before covid restrictions, it's spread out but there are still lots of seating options and availability. We didn't struggle to find a seat at all. Overall, I'm really impressed with the updates they've made to their menu and seating! Outside Coffee is definitely one of the most unique coffee experiences in the area and the space is really fun. They have igloos in the winter and hammocks in the warmer weather as well as other seating. We stopped by in June and found the space to be well maintained and relaxing. I enjoyed the food options- who doesn't love a good toast? The avocado toast was generous and tasty. They have quite a variety of options and seems that they can accommodate various allergy or dietary needs. My reason to knock a star off is, to be quite honest, the quality of the coffee. Don't get me wrong, it was fine. But in a city where the coffee options are plentiful, this isn't the best. My iced coffee was fine- I wouldn't go out of my way for it but I wouldn't refuse to return by any means. We also purchased a bag of whole bean to-go. My husband said it tasted different than what he had while we were there, and that it didn't seem very fresh. (And mind you, he's a bit of a coffee snob and uses a burr grinder and a french press.) For the price we paid for the bag, we would definitely not get it again. Overall this is a fine spot and a nice place to bring friends or family... including the furry friends! But if you're bringing a super coffee snob, there might be other places to try. read more

A lovely approach to a coffee shop! The drinks are nothing special, but the ambience makes up for it in spades. Don't get me wrong -- it's solid coffee -- just not the best place to get a drink in town. They sometimes have good snack choices, but this more of a get a drink, have a conversation, and chill kind of place. Don't expect a delicious pastry every time -- although the Sunday cinnamon rolls are terrific. Service is always quick and painless. read more

What a neat place. An outside coffee shop in Michigan couldn't survive into the winter..... Unless you have igloos and Christmas lights to spice it up. We love staying outside in the sub freezing temperatures, huddled in an igloo with a hot beverage. This was a perfect date idea because of how different it was. And the coffee was great. They had a seasonal menu with items like gingerbread lattes to add to the festive feel. I think the difficulty with this place would be in icy, windy or wet conditions (like rain) because of the lack of a true building. But when the weather is nice, I'm sure it's a lovely place to visit all year round. I know I'm definitely coming back here in the summer. read more

It seems that many coffee places are closed during the new stay at home order; we tried two other coffee shops before stopping at outside coffee. I was impressed by their menu selection, but not their prices. I ordered the Mokaya Mocha, which was $5 for the 12 oz. After 7 minutes, my coffee cane out with a cute little tree on the sleeve. It wasn't piping hot-it felt a bit more on the lukewarm side, which I was disappointed by. The chocolate flavor was good, but there wasn't enough froth in the latte. Also, we were disappointed to discover that the bubbles, which outside coffee is famous for, are by reservation only and can only be reserved for 30 minutes at a time. Overall, my drink we decent and the ambience was cute, but not worth the high price. If sparrows was open, I would opt for that as a better option. read more

Outside Coffee Company is an Instagrammer's dream. It's right next to an art store (which operates the coffee shop). A green painted RV sells a large menu of coffee and tea products and customers enjoy their purchases inside heated geo domes in a garden. It's beautiful. The service is strong and the price is decent. The coffee was not bad. It's not the best coffee you'll have in the city, but I enjoyed my cafe miel (espresso, milk, and honey). There is something so beautifully whimsical about this place! I made two visits in a day and I have no regrets. Items Ordered: - Honey Lavender Latte: Tasted great! Doesn't taste like soap. - Miel: Heavy on the milk, does not compare to Madcap or Rowster's, but it was good. - Granny Banany with Almond Milk: Again, too heavy on the milk and there was very little banana flavor. - Vanilla Latte with Almond Milk: Once again, it tasted like Milk featuring Coffee. (Note: their almond milk is not home-made, it is Barista Series.) - Goat Cheese Toast with Seasonal Jam: This was okay. The proportions of the flavors could be reevaluated as the combination of honey and jam made the toast a bit too sweet (and I have a major sweet tooth!) and a bit more basil would've been nice. The bread was a bit cracker-like and the cuts of the basil were roooougggghh. (Please Google chiffonade!) Ultimately, their "basic" coffee items were a miss. The next visit, I hope to have better luck by ordering their flavored, specialty drinks. This place gets busy and seating (with warmers) can be a miss. Came here to grab a coffee with a friend pre a locals recommendation. It did not disappoint. The space is beautiful with tons of planters and trees everywhere! There is a variety of seating, community tables, lounge chairs, small tables, places to work and hammocks. You can come here for pretty much any occasion, work, relax, or socialize. My friend ordered a couple drinks for me to try, the honey lavender, hanny bannany and I had a capp. I loved the honey lavender. I would highly recommend. This is my cup of honey lavender latte. I love dining al fresco...and drinking coffee al fresco. I love twinkle lights. I love good branding. I love creative lattes that have flavor but aren't too sweet. I love everything about Outside Coffee Co...except maybe the long wait times. The staff is very quick to take orders and very kind all the while. But between making toasts and roasting beans, you may be standing by the pickup window for quite a while. Outside is soooo good! Especially in the summer months, but it's also amazing in the winter too, as the heat-trapping yurt-looking things get put out. I definitely have it at the top of my list during my heavy studying coffee shop circuits. Some of the best options in town as far as specialty drinks, and i appreciate that they have a wide range of milk alternatives, rather than just one. I still love soymilk, and a lot of other hip cafés like this one don't carry soy anymore. Im particularly obsessed with their lavender honey latte. Their garden seating area in the summer is so amazing and ambient and i love wrapping up in one of their hammocks with a book. Its also connected to the Woosah outdoorsy supply/gift shop (i believe the same owners?...) one of the more successful local businesses of eastown...its always nice to get a drink at outside then take a stroll through woosah to see what theyve got going on. My sister, dad, AND mom have all visited Outside Coffee Co over the last few weeks and all wrote five star reviews, so I've been jealous for some time now. I finally visited Grand Rapids for the first time this past weekend from Chicago to see my sister, and am psyched to be writing my own review! We arrived around 10:30am on a pretty chilly yet sunny Saturday morning and were able to find free street parking nearby easily. I immediately noticed all of the warming domes and plenty of open tables outside. Unfortunately, all of the domes were understandably taken at this particular time. I also noticed dogs. Like, a LOT of dogs... so... hell yeah. Bring your dogs, okay?! Big, little, tiny, sleepy, energetic: bring 'em all. We perused the menu while we waited in line for a few minutes, and I knew I had to order the Granny Banany banana latte right when I set my sights on it. Not only do I love banana-flavored anything, but one of my nicknames is "Annie Bananie," so it seemed like fate. My siblings each ordered their own drinks as well. Since coffee is served out of a small trailer, there were only two people working, so wait times were a bit long (I'd say about 8-15 minutes for your drink). Don't come here if you're in a hurry, because it's not fair to expect quick AND fabulous service from two people when it's very busy. Just be patient with these wonderful humans! Who knows, though?! Maybe you'll come at an off time and luckily get super quick service. Anyway, once we got our drinks we sat down at a table for a few minutes and enjoyed the sunshine while waiting for the shop next door to open up at 11am so we could enjoy our coffee in the warmth of the indoors. My banana latte was even better than I expected, and I truly didn't even know what to expect because I've never had a banana latte! Just visited Outside Coffee in November with my husband and brought dog and baby. To our surprise they have set up outdoor plastic domed tents so you can enjoy the outdoors drinking coffee but be protected by the weather. Miniature simulated fireplace warmers are placed within each domed tent. Also the goat cheese with jam toast and salmon and caper toast was delicious. House coffee still a little hit or miss but decaf cappuccino was decent. I believe their toast is much better but if they can improve the taste of their coffee I think they will be easily a five star place to visit! So much fun! The aesthetics of the coffee shop is gorgeous and looks like a great place to sit with a party. However, I took my nitro cold brew coffee home with me and was very disappointed. Whenever I find nitro cold brew on a menu I will always order it since they are hard to find. This nitro cold brew has been the worst one that I have ever received. There was no head on the nitro and half of it was filled with ice. I have never had a nitro with ice in it and to top it off this wouldn't even qualify as a nitro at most coffee shops. Outside has been one of our go-to coffee shops in the area since it opened, but apparently I've never taken the time to review it until now! We stopped in last night for a treat after dinner, with my sights set on one of their new espresso milkshakes (they added vegan soft serve this summer and all of their lattes can be turned into a milkshake!) Sadly, they had sold out of the vanilla ice cream and a lemon/mocha milkshake didn't sound like a great idea, so I went with an iced mocha with oat milk and my wife, with her heart set on a milkshake, got a strawberry milkshake made with the lemon soft serve. Both of our drinks were delicious (I appreciate how their coffee drinks are more coffee-forward and not as cloyingly sweet as at some other places) and we both appreciate that all of their cups and such are compostable. So yeah, their drinks are great and their food looks good (haven't tried it yet), but it is definitely their vibe and space that set them apart. Going to Outside feels like you're chilling in a friends backyard. It is homey with hammocks and plenty of other places to sit (in the winter they even have heated plastic igloos you can sit in) so you can enjoy the outdoors and linger in their tastefully decorated space. They have upgraded from a small converted camper to a larger food truck, which I assume is what allowed them the space to add ice cream. The new truck isn't as cute as the camper, but if it gives employees a little more room and gets me ice cream, I'm on board! All in all, this is one of my favorite spots in the city, and I'm stoked that there are always people there supporting them. read more
