Possibly my new favorite spot for a bagel? The matcha was good - smooth and creamy. The flavor of their vanilla syrup isn't my favorite but it wasn't bad. I live for fun specialty matcha and while they did have one on the menu, the pine flavors weren't appealing to me. Surprisingly, the real star of the show was the bagel. Not the avocado spread that was on it, that just tasted like that overly acidic stuff you get in the little cups, but the bagel itself was amazing. It was chewy but not tough to chew. I loved its soft doughy texture. They also had some vegan treats available that i'd love to try next time. I came here to meet a friend on an early morning. The parking lot in the back was already almost full, but there is tons of street parking too! I ordered an Americano, and it was delicious and hot. There are also a great number of lattes if that is your preference. The service here is always friendly and quick. I tend to get my coffee to go, but they also offer beautiful mugs of coffee to enjoy in the coffee shop. There are plenty of chairs and bright windows, so it's a great place to chat with a friend. There is a counter against the window with plugs if you're looking for somewhere to work - though it isn't a quiet place in the morning it does settle down around 10. Stovetop is great. It's near my alma mater and close enough to work so that I have time to relax here. The free parking is in the back and it feels like a little hidden gem when you walk in from the back. Service is always great here, their matcha lattes are my preferred beverage from here, I would rate them 4.5/5 I love how there's an antique shop next door so you can get your beverage here first then go on exploring :) I will say also that I get a lot of my reading done here, perfect vibe! read more

Walking in, it gives off similar vibes from plants on the walls to the simple yet impressive coffee menu. What's different is a neon sign that reads "Thanks for being here." The space is large with tables, window seating and sidewalk tables outside. There are outlets and strong wifi (stronger than Madcap's from my experience working from both on the same day). I ordered a latte miel and it was the same price as Madcap's and tasted just as good. Made with honey, it struck the right balance of sweetness and coffee. If you want a quality coffee shop in Grand Rapids that's not Madcap, go to Stovetop Coffee. Started in Ann Arbor and roasting single-origin coffee, quality is key! read more

The cutest coffee shop in GR! Not only is the coffee delicious, Stovetop's packaging and merch is also top notch. My go-tos are iced oat milk lattes (they use Oatly) and iced pour overs. They also have $2 batch brew and $2 nitro cold brew on Saturdays- not sure if this is a limited time thing. Don't forget to check out their seasonal drinks! This place is wonderful for many reasons. The cozy, inviting decor and comfy chairs to name a few but the main reason I love coming here is they have really great coffee! As their name implies they roast all their own beans and even sell them in the shop. The baristas were kind and helpful with excellent knowledge of the different beans they had to offer. Our drinks were expertly made and took just enough time for us to wander around and admire the merch wall and art offerings they had. I recommend going early on the weekends as parking and their pastries (from field & fire) tend to go quickly! They've got a great seating area if that's what you're looking for. A lot of places have uncomfortable bar top seating with no back rest and places like MadCap are always packed, but Stovetop has got plenty of tables, chairs, outlets, and it's an awesome place to study, have a coffee, and hang out. They have Nantucket Bagels (which is right next door), and great coffee. Their drip coffee is unreal and their iced Chai Latte's are super solid too. Their tea is super good and they've got plenty of options if coffee isn't your thing. Everyone there is super nice, the ambience is good, and they've got some fun merch and artwork along the walls that make for a good Portrait Mode picture (if that's your thing). read more

I'm surprised that I have yet to stop by here beforehand! It's such a lovely coffee shop with cute decor, enough seating/tables, and decent parking (back parking lot, front street parking)! I got the Iced Matcha Latte and Hot Lavender Latte (both with oat milk). Both were great choices and I appreciated the generous matcha powder included in the matcha latte. Oftentimes, I notice other coffee shops add very little matcha and the taste and texture is barely noticeable. Totally not an issue here at Stovetops Coffee Roasters! As for their lavender latte, it was the right amount of sweet and floral taste to it. I was concerned the oat milk would make it taste grainy, but I could hardly notice! A thing to note: it's a tad chilly inside, so bring a sweater if you plan to stay for a little bit. Overall, great place to read a book, catch up with a friend over coffee, or even do a little bit of studying. Would recommend! read more

I've been in a couple times and had a few different drinks. The coffee is good, the latest time I had the Nitro Coffee it was nice and refreshing on a hot summer day! Nice atmosphere, they have modern space with room to work. They have hooks for your bag at the window bar seating, and at least a few of the seats there have power close by. Stovetops is a nice, bright space to spend some time studying, working, or relaxing with a beverage. I spent a couple hours working here early one weekend morning and enjoyed it. I had a cup of white tea that was very subtle and light. I think they offer coffee flights here so I'm definitely interested in checking that out next time. The interior is pretty spacious and you're not crammed in too tightly, which is nice. The only major complaint I have is that there are no hooks or anywhere to put your coat when you're sitting at the high top tables with the tall backless stools. Backless stools are the bane of my existence in the winter / spring when I need to hang my coat up and it seems like many coffee shops have them now. Under table / counter hooks need to be more prevalent in places with backless stools. Of course I can choose other seating as they do have regular chairs available, but the high top tables were closest to the outlet I needed. It's not going to keep me from going back there but it's something I wish more places would consider. On street parking is available, be sure to download the Motu app! read more

We decided to mozy on over to this place after the farmers Market on a Saturday. To my pleasant surprise, the place wasn't packed. The place is well lit and the main floor is one level again. It is work friendly but you may have to be strategic with your battery life if you want a chair with a back. I got an iced latte and he got the tea. The coffee was brewed well with no burnt or bitter taste. He got a tea that was steeped for him behind the counter. We will definitely be back for another brew or two.
