You have to drive into Reno or Carson City to hit up a Starbucks or comparable coffee place. I heard from locals about The Roasting House. I saw pics of celebrities like Terrance Howard and Jeremy Renner sitting on the quaint little bar stools inside. Roasting House has officially entered the coffee chat room! On my first visit, I saw that the Iced Brew special was Carrot Cake. Um? Only my favorite cake! I had the best timing and hit the jackpot! Of course that's what I ordered. It was delicious! The decor is absolutely adorable. It's like a beautiful Victorian feel to it. It has beautiful furniture, pictures on the wall, and they have coffee, jewelry for sale and other items. Additionally, they roast their coffee beans on-site with a large vintage roasting machine towards the back of the shop. The place definitely has an elegant, antique-like ambience that fits perfectly with VC. They also serve various baked goods, bagel sandwiches and other breakfast items. You will have a great start to your day by coming here first. Service is impeccable and the staff is super friendly. As you go towards the rear of the shop, there is a beautiful patio that overlooks Virginia city and the streets below C Street. It's a perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast item. It's very peaceful with beautiful scenery and they've added some rustic patio furniture. I've been back a couple times and the prices are really good. I'm from the Bay Area and compared to where I'm from the prices are more than reasonable for coffee. This is a place not to be missed when you visit Virginia City!

I had to ask if he meant that was the only option before he clarified. No apology or explanation, just minimal communication. He also never asked for my name. After hearing another customer's name called, I asked a different barista how I would know when my drink was ready. While she was answering me perfectly fine, he called over from about five feet away, "Well, we're going to call out your exact drink order. Your drink's not ready." I wasn't asking why my drink wasn't ready. I was asking how I would know which was mine. His response was rude and condescending, especially when his lack of communication created the confusion in the first place. My friend then ordered an iced chai and was given a hot one. He made the excuse that he had ridden a motorcycle for an hour and was having trouble hearing. That made very little sense considering he had just heard and inserted himself into my conversation from five feet away, yet apparently couldn't hear my friend standing directly in front of him. If his hearing was genuinely that impaired, taking customer orders and then using it as an excuse for getting them wrong was extremely frustrating. Our drinks were also subpar, service was slow, and the entire experience felt disorganized and poorly managed. Everyone has bad days, but if that was the issue, he probably should have stayed home or worked making drinks rather than taking orders in such a customer-facing position. Otherwise, he may be better suited stocking shelves overnight at Walmart where customer interaction isn't part of the job. We all left genuinely disappointed and with no desire to return.

I ordered an iced butter rum latte for myself, an iced raspberry mocha for my husband, and one of their chocolate-dipped biscotti. The raspberry mocha was the standout for me, with a rich, deep flavor that really came through. My butter rum latte was good, but a bit milkier than I would have hoped for. The one thing that gave me pause was the price. At about $9 for a medium drink, it felt a little steep. That said, I appreciate supporting local businesses, and I was happy to learn that they use organic coffee. I've also heard they make their own chai, which definitely has me interested in coming back to give it a try Overall, a solid local coffee stop with friendly service and some unique offerings. I'm looking forward to exploring more of the menu.
