I had walked past 18th Amendment earlier in the week and thought it looked worth checking out - just peering in the window, it had a great atmosphere and inviting vibe. When I requested an online reservation I received a prompt and friendly callback - and when we arrived the next night, they had a highchair set up and waiting for us. The cocktails were excellent. I don't mind paying almost city prices when drinks are thoughtfully crafted, balanced, and unique - these absolutely delivered. Our server was wonderful. We asked whether the chef could prepare something for the baby and she quickly returned with several options. Since it was his first birthday, we let him splurge and ordered a filet with risotto. The kitchen sent it out right away, which helped avoid an imminent pre-bedtime meltdown. Dad tax applied--the baby's dinner was delicious! The bartender even sent over a small mocktail for him to try - a thoughtful touch. Every entrée at the table was phenomenal and everyone cleaned their plates. The ingredients were fresh, the portions were generous, and the quality was evident throughout the meal. Great food paired with outstanding service made it easy to justify the price, which again, was not extraordinarily high, all things considered. I highly recommend 18th Amendment if you're looking for a dining experience that's a step above the ordinary.

But yeah aside from the terrific service, the main reason we keep coming back is the quality of the dishes they consistently put out there. This trip we got to try the "Friendship Fries" as a moderately spicy, super flavorful appetizer, and then we split a whole branzino in a delicious horseradish sauce. And because we heard great things about their burgers, we came back just now for another dinner and split one of those too - predictably great, barely any condiments needed really. Juicy, well-cooked and tasty as heck. They have a super extensive wine selection from FLX, France, Italy and all across the U.S., but we tend to order from their cocktail menu - just tried the "Ship of Theseus" today. The service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly, polite, and attentive throughout the meal, making the experience enjoyable. The food was good, though it wasn't particularly memorable or outstanding. We both love poutine. The fries was good but the gravy was a bit too salty and it definitely need more cheese curds. Overall, it's a great spot for dinner with friends or family, especially if you're in the area and looking for a pleasant dining experience.

The most incredible (and only) speakeasy in the Finger Lakes…read more After hours of driving, we knew we needed a cool spot to go to at night for some delicious wine. Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. He also had forgotten my son's drink order and which my son actually had to ask him after some time "where's my juice?" My older son had ordered the s'mores waffles and it looked good when it was delivered but as I cut some of it for me to try later on, I soon realized the batter was uncooked in the middle of most of them. I was thoroughly disappointed he had eaten some of it before I discovered it was uncooked. The server throughly apologized and they remade the order which in the end, we ended up taking home with us. They also didn't take the order off the check for us which normally that would happen. For such a classy restaurant, we would think they would know how to make waffles and for more top-notch service. I stopped by Cam's in Penn Yan for carry-out pizza (one cheese, one pepperoni) during a family…read morevacation trip in July 2025. This place has both pluses and minuses. First, the pizza is quite good. However, for NY pizza snobs, you may need to lower your expectations as the crust needs more salt. Second, the ambiance of this pizza place is very old-school with a 70s or 80s vibe. This place looks like it has not changed (which may be a plus for some, a minus for others). Third, the service for carry-out was pretty good. On the minus side, street parking can be difficult to find at the main corner of this busy intersection. But one tip is to drive behind Cam's (toward Penn Yan Diner) and then turn left where you'll see a hidden but very convenient municipal lot. It's only a short 3-5 min walk. Overall, I think this is pretty good pizza for the Finger Lakes region. However, the crust needs more salt.
