Awesome place! Doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is wonderful, and so are the people. Stopped in last week and got the lunch special of 1 meat and two sides. I opted for the turkey and it was delicious. My coworkers tried everything from the ribs to the brisket and pulled pork and everyone was thrilled. The people that work here really know their stuff and are so nice. The sides are serve yourself at the buffet and range from veggies to peach cobbler. Lots of options and all fresh. The prices are more than fair and the portions are large. Lots of seating inside but it looked like they had a drive thru too. Definitely recommend!! read more

3/23/24. Best barbecue I've ever had. Brisket was moist and had a perfect bark. Ribs were fork tender (fell completely off the bone), beans were fantastic smoky and sweet. Pickled peppers to top it off. No sauce needed. The staff were so helpful as I've never been here before, I asked for their recommendation and they said "two meat beef and rib." New to area, wanted real smoked bbq, stopped in at Outlaw Bbq for our first time and was satisfied how ever did not meet my want. Sides were very over sauced and not pleasing to the eye, slice of pecan pie was a thumbs down. Best item I had was the turkey and sausage. Originally from Ft. I'm not sure if we just came in on an off day or what, but we didn't have a great time here. My young son and I were very excited to splurge for a bbq picnic and park day. Staff seemed irritated, and I felt we were treated quite poorly. No big deal, I understand how difficult the job is, and sometimes sh!t happens. We stayed cheerful, and I guided my first timer through what options we had/proper etiquette since we were the only customers in line. $70 later, and we're hauling our hefty bag out. Graciously thanked the gentleman and received no response. Our meats were Sahara desert dry. So dry it was difficult to swallow. All of our sides tasted the same and were somehow both salty and devoid of flavor. Slaw was soup. Not the most horrific experience by any means, but this was hardly what we anticipated after getting so many recommendations for this location. Figured out the used A very strong smoke ingredient that is very Smokey and taste like chemicals. The pork was not smoked and that was good. Sauce is good not fabulous but edible. Stooped here and was pleasantly surprised. Very polite and helpful staff. Very clean. Had brisket, chopped brisket sandwich, green beans, broccoli salad and cucumber salad. Brisket was great. Very tender and flavorful. Spicy sauce was very good and it is spicy and loved it. The green beans were hot with nice chunks of ham. The other two salads were very bland. My husband and I ate here today. 2 pulled pork sandwiches and 4 sides, 2 teas that was 37.00. I've ate here many times and always had large sandwiches that the meat was falling out, but today it was such a small amount of meat that it was mostly tasting bread. We were down here from Dallas and stopped in for lunch. I had the 2 meat plate. Brisket could be pulled apart with one fork. Unbelievably tender and crazy flavorful. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was also really good. However, the two highest points for me were the house beer and the extra hot BBQ sauce. I had the Uncle Tom's Brown Ale. Super smooth, and more carbonation than I was expecting, but that was actually a great surprise. Highly recommend. The hot sauce: Forst of all, they have very clear and direct signage that warms you that their hot sauce is hot. Not a little hot. A LOT HOT. They did not disappoint. It is for real hot. But, it is just as flavorful as the other sauces. The best sauce I have ever had when you talk flavor and spice. These guys did not disappoint. I would also like to say that they told me someone wrote a negative review on here, blaming the spice level of their sauce as the reason. To that I say, you were warned. It's not their fault you are trying to penalize them for something you were clearly warned about. If you ask for the extra spicy, your 'problem' with the restaurant cannot then be the level of spice in the sauce. Come on, dude. If you like BBQ, come here. If you like spicy sauces, come here. While the brisket was fairly tender, there generally wasn't a ton of flavor in the food. This place could benefit from some mashed potatoes or mac and cheese and a less ketchup based sauce. The jalapeño sausage was really yummy though and probably the best thing on the menu. read more

OMG! This place was better than expected. The WARNING sign for their HOT sauce is not only humorous but truthful! I'm more of a sweet sauce (which they also have) than spicy but definitely worth the try. The sliced beef & jalapeño cheddar sausage was insanely good and the sides ... oh so many to choose from! By far the best BBQ I've had in Mt. Pleasant. Super-friendly service and fun atmosphere going through serving line. Love the fact that they chop the meat from the brisket to make a chopped sandwich. Portion size was good, and meat was moist enough to not require sauce. Sides of pinto beans and potatoes were both good. I am reluctant to rate 5 stars for two reasons - 1) brisket lacked a little in flavor, and 2) I was not a fan of the sauce - nothing to do with the heat (I tried some of the "medium"), but with its sweetness. Sauce should compliment the meat, if used at all - not stand out on its own. I look forward to coming back and trying some of their other offerings. Saw some great looking ribs on a few plates... Updated 09/25/18: I have since eaten here a few more times and each experience has been great. Friendly service, good food. Really like the ribs, not a fan of the turkey. I've been to this place in the past only one other time, but went yesterday. The portions, as everyone else has stated, are very generous. I bought a pound and a third of brisket, and it was juicy, flavorful, and overall good for our family. Customer service is excellent, with a very friendly staff. I believe the guy chopping our brisket was the owner. However, what keeps this place from getting 4 stars or more is the BBQ sauce. If you go here, stick with the house brand, and DO NOT get the spicy kind. When I've ordered spicy sauce at other BBQ places, I'm expecting something sweet and spicy. Therefore a little zing, but nothing overpowering. What I got yesterday, totally ruined my first plate of brisket. It literally was so hot, all you could taste was overpowering habanero, and if it wasn't habanero, it was some other kind of hot pepper. My son and I, who eat spicy foods all the time, literally were choking as it seared the inside of my mouth. My father in law who eats super spicy foods commented that you could not even taste the meat. In other words, I would have done better to pour pure habanero on my meat, than to mix it in with whatever ingredients they used. In the end, I had to set that aside, fix up another brisket sandwich, and use the regular sauce. However, my mouth literally burned for an hour, and my stomach felt like there was a fire pit smoldering inside me. It's not good when your house spicy BBQ sauce completely ruins the taste of your meat. I think that recipe needs to be revisited, and I'm totally open to the possibility someone didn't make it right.
