Travelers along Interstate 30 can get Texas barbecue in just about every town between Texarkana and Dallas so what sets them apart? If they can't smoke brisket, they wouldn't be in business so for me, it's the sides. That's what made Jojack's special for me. Yes, you can get beans. Everyone has beans. But not everyone offers broccoli salad or sweet bacony Brussels sprouts. Jojack's are delicious! Also, a tip for out-of-towners: the best thing about Texas barbecue is that brisket. I used to try to be "healthy" by ordering smoked chicken and I was always disappointed. If you want chicken, get fried somewhere else. If you want barbecue, get the brisket here (to be fair, the hubs also liked Jojack's sausage options). To be "healthy," I opted for brisket-topped loaded baked potato. The potato was baked perfectly, and even the skin was yummy. I loaded my potato myself at the condiment bar so I got exactly what I wanted (plus some tasty pickled onions AND barbecue sauce!) The decor is cute and clean with corrugated tin accents and lots of eat-in tables. They appeared to be busy at the drive-through so that's an option if you're in a hurry. Servers were friendly and efficient. Oh! And they have a wide selection of bottled beers (for your passengers at least!) read more

Don't stop here often and now I remember why. Ordered 2 Birria tacos and a pulled pork sandwich to go, and probably wouldn't have made a fuss about the girl that touched her ponytail and then went and got the hamburger bun for my sandwich, except when I got home I found no consume' for my tacos The whole point of getting birria tacos is to dip them. So disappointing read more

Was in Mt. Pleasant, TX and was in the mood for some BBQ. So we went over to Jo Jack's Smokehouse. The outside of the business was awesome and so was the inside. The staff was super nice and friendly. I ordered loaded macaroni and cheese, with chopped brisket. Well it looked amazing. I also asked for some jalapeños sausage. I was all set for a good meal. I tasted the sausage and it was cold. (Big turn off). The loaded Mac was also lukewarm also. My friends meal was also the same. Other than that the place was clean, and decorated nice. read more

The food is OK, but I've only been in here once and I won't go back because when I went in there, I ordered a barbecue sandwich and I was asking for extra things to go on it like pickles and onions and lettuce and told her that I would pay extra and she told me that it was for different things it was for sandwiches. I could go over there and get them yeah well with that being said, I'll never go back And the food wasn't that great or I would overlook it no thank you read more

Delicious food and excellent customer service! In addition to the very nice atmosphere. And the prices weren't too bad at all.

Fantastic bbq and great ppl! They were so nice to us and answered all my questions. The kids devoured the ribs and we all know how toddlers can be! Highly recommend to stop by and enjoy. The beans are good but the Mac n cheese and broccoli salad are AMAZING! read more

They have a good sandwich and ribs but the sides could be much better. The young people working there are very nice but the the boss woman is RUDE and lacks anything that resembles customer service. She YELLED at me before the door closed behind me for the way I parked in the handicapped parking--I had one sprained ankle and the other one was fractured and I did have a temp parking placket to use, plus I was the ONLY vehicle in the parking lot! For 3 months the boards outside have one price and they charge a higher price stating "they're working on changing the signs"!--It doesn't take 3 months to make those changes!!! Wonderful pulled pork. 10/10 Amazing baked beans. 10/10 Great brussel sprouts. 5/10 Excellent chicken. 7/10 Pineapple links were alright. 4/10 Amazing brisket. 9/10 Great bbq sauce. 9/10 Great place to stop in if you are staying at the local KOA. Smelled so good, so we had to mosey on down, or up, and see what the huff was about. Friendly staff, greeted promptly with courtesy, never cheated on portions. Looking forward to eventually trying to macaroni, coleslaw, & going back for more baked beans & pork. Nice interiors, clean (10/10), very easy service. Overall very lovely place. Give it a try if you are looking for a quick snack or traveling on the road. read more

Every meal I've eaten here has been really good. The side dishes are top notch and the Tuesday Tacos are good. The service is always good they are always so nice. The inside is what you'd expect from a BBQ place rustic. But, this place is really clean. I'll continue to eat here when I'm in town. read more

We were traveling through Texas, camping in Mt. Pleasant and needed a place to eat dinner. We saw JoJack's and decided to give it a try because it had good reviews. We were very happy with our decision. My husband and I both got the pit master sandwich. It was so good. It was packed with meat and you could savor all the different tastes going on. I didn't need any sides as the sandwich was huge. My husband got the creamed corn, coleslaw and banana pudding. He said the coleslaw wasn't very good but the corn and banana pudding were good. read more

So good! We were traveling and wanted something that wasn't a chain. The place was so cute, great atmosphere. The bbq was delish!! The service was good, small town charm for sure. The only reason why I gave 4/5 was the sides. They were good but nothing to write home about. read more

Great BBQ - had sliced brisket and ribs and both were excellent. Highly recommend this friendly local restaurant!

It was hot..in the restaurant...the food wasn't. Potato salad=boil a potato, put just enough mayo to make it somewhat white=bland. Corn concoction, so incredibly salty, couldn't eat it. Expensive. But the lady and other staff were nice. Not a lot of choices in this small town, at least not for a nonlocal. Not sure what we missed the other reviewers got. read more

In town for the week and decided to stop in for some bbq. I got the rib plate and sides which ended up being macaroni and baked beans. The ribs ended up being spare and had a lot of fat in them. Also they ended up being underdone by probably an hour. The macaroni all stuck together pretty fast by the time we sat down. The beans were sweet but very good. The service was excellent going from ordering to sitting down in about 5 minutes. All in all a good place to eat these are just my opinions on the food I received. read more

This is a brand new BBQ restaurant. I'm not sure when they opened but the restaurant looks very new and is so well designed. It has that modern farmhouse taste. Their BBQ meat is awesome, we order several items on their menu to go. We love all the meat, the rip, brisket and pull pork are amazing. One of our family members said that the ribs are heavenly, 10 times better than any other BBQ ribs he had. I like BBQ but don't like fatty BBQ. They give us options when we ordered the brisket- choice of marble or lean meat. We picked lean and it tasted delicious! I also love their broccoli salad. It doesn't have too much mayonnaise, it tastes clean and healthy... a little too sweet for me but who doesn't like sweetness! Overall it's the best BBQ place in town, my opinion. Everyone has different taste buds, but if you like the taste of authentic TX BBQ and want it to be done with high quality and healthier, you may want to try this place. read more

JoJack's was delicious. We tried the Big Dog Platter and a weekend special of burnt ends. Favorite meat was burnt ends. We enjoyed the experience of trying pineapple sausage. A surprise favorite was Brussel sprouts deep fried, then sautéed in honey, and finished with bacon. The portions were generous. The dessert looked yummy, unfortunately, we were to full to try them. The service was excellent. The unsweetened tea fresh and all the soda was made with natural ingredients. A hidden gem. Highly recommend. read more
