Travelers along Interstate 30 can get Texas barbecue in just about every town between Texarkana and Dallas so what sets them apart? If they can't smoke brisket, they wouldn't be in business so for me, it's the sides. That's what made Jojack's special for me. Yes, you can get beans. Everyone has beans. But not everyone offers broccoli salad or sweet bacony Brussels sprouts. Jojack's are delicious! Also, a tip for out-of-towners: the best thing about Texas barbecue is that brisket. I used to try to be "healthy" by ordering smoked chicken and I was always disappointed. If you want chicken, get fried somewhere else. If you want barbecue, get the brisket here (to be fair, the hubs also liked Jojack's sausage options). To be "healthy," I opted for brisket-topped loaded baked potato. The potato was baked perfectly, and even the skin was yummy. I loaded my potato myself at the condiment bar so I got exactly what I wanted (plus some tasty pickled onions AND barbecue sauce!) The decor is cute and clean with corrugated tin accents and lots of eat-in tables. They appeared to be busy at the drive-through so that's an option if you're in a hurry. They have a good sandwich and ribs but the sides could be much better. The young people working there are very nice but the the boss woman is RUDE and lacks anything that resembles customer service. She YELLED at me before the door closed behind me for the way I parked in the handicapped parking--I had one sprained ankle and the other one was fractured and I did have a temp parking placket to use, plus I was the ONLY vehicle in the parking lot! For 3 months the boards outside have one price and they charge a higher price stating "they're working on changing the signs"!--It doesn't take 3 months to make those changes!!! Was in Mt. Pleasant, TX and was in the mood for some BBQ. So we went over to Jo Jack's Smokehouse. The outside of the business was awesome and so was the inside. The staff was super nice and friendly. I ordered loaded macaroni and cheese, with chopped brisket. Well it looked amazing. I also asked for some jalapeños sausage. I was all set for a good meal. We were very happy with our decision. My husband and I both got the pit master sandwich. It was so good. It was packed with meat and you could savor all the different tastes going on. It was hot..in the restaurant...the food wasn't. Potato salad=boil a potato, put just enough mayo to make it somewhat white=bland. Corn concoction, so incredibly salty, couldn't eat it. Expensive. In town for the week and decided to stop in for some bbq. I got the rib plate and sides which ended up being macaroni and baked beans. The ribs ended up being spare and had a lot of fat in them. Also they ended up being underdone by probably an hour. The macaroni all stuck together pretty fast by the time we sat down. The beans were sweet but very good. The service was excellent going from ordering to sitting down in about 5 minutes. All in all a good place to eat these are just my opinions on the food I received. read more

This is a brand new BBQ restaurant. I'm not sure when they opened but the restaurant looks very new and is so well designed. It has that modern farmhouse taste. Their BBQ meat is awesome, we order several items on their menu to go. We love all the meat, the rip, brisket and pull pork are amazing. One of our family members said that the ribs are heavenly, 10 times better than any other BBQ ribs he had. I like BBQ but don't like fatty BBQ. They give us options when we ordered the brisket- choice of marble or lean meat. We picked lean and it tasted delicious! I also love their broccoli salad. It doesn't have too much mayonnaise, it tastes clean and healthy... a little too sweet for me but who doesn't like sweetness! Overall it's the best BBQ place in town, my opinion. JoJack's was delicious. We tried the Big Dog Platter and a weekend special of burnt ends. Favorite meat was burnt ends. We enjoyed the experience of trying pineapple sausage. A surprise favorite was Brussel sprouts deep fried, then sautéed in honey, and finished with bacon. The portions were generous. The dessert looked yummy, unfortunately, we were to full to try them.
