This place is great. Toni is by far the BEST waitress in the building. She knows the menu and all the good food.

Just had a great lunch at Judd's celebrating my husband's 75th birthday. The place was mostly empty…read moreso it was quiet and we could talk. UNTIL: a family of 5 were seated in the booth next to us. 2 young children, one 3-4 years old, another in a stroller. The older one hung on the glass barrier between the booths and it bent under her weight. I worried it would break and injure my 90 yr old mother. Parents were only interested in their phone. Then the baby started screaming, again no attempt by parents to comfort. No waitresses or owner intervention to request control. Another patron strolled over and politely asked that the quiet the child. Father rudely told the "old man to f' off and go sit down." Only then did the "mother" attempt to quiet the child. They then proceeded to complain to the manager that the man had been aggressive. He apologized to them! My husband and I got up and went and thanked the man. He was only a few minutes ahead of us complaining about the children. We could not talk to each other as we ate because we couldn't hear each other. So this is a good/bad review. The food was great and worth the money for our celebration but our experience was ruined by staff/managements failure to provide a nice environment and parents not willing to control their children. We might be back.

We found this place just browsing Yelp while we were staying in town. There weren't too many…read moreoptions and we wanted something more than fast food or a pizza place. I'm so glad we tried this one because it ended up being perfect! It's beautiful inside, especially the bar area. We sat in there because even though they don't have a dress code, we felt too underdressed and were more comfortable sitting at the bar. Right off the bat, the service was excellent. The hostess was super sweet and accommodating, and shortly after we sat, we were greeted by the owner. Above and beyond! He thanked us for coming and left us to our meal. We had: -Raw oysters: a mixed bunch of deliciousness! -Shrimp scampi: packed with shrimp! So much so that I couldn't finish the dish and had to take the rest home. Very tasty, and has a creole flare to it that sets it apart from your typical scampi dish. -Dessert: faced with the choice of vanilla OR chocolate crème brûlée, we dared to be different and it was a fabulous choice. The mint with the chocolate was a marvelous touch. -Drinks: I had a French 75 and my mom had a different 75 that I'm blanking on the name of. Both were fantastic! The bartenders were both awesome and they truly take pride in their creations. The owner came back around to check on us, and while we ate, we had noticed him giving what looked like tours to other patrons. We asked about some of the history and he was more than happy to share with us. Very interesting and an added bonus to our visit! All around, I had a wonderful birthday dinner and highly recommend this place to anyone who finds themselves in the area.

The food wasn't as good as it could have been in my opinion for the price. The service was okay. The place not as grand as I had expected from hearing people talk about it. I should have just went to Longview for a better anniversary meal with the wife.

After dinner on The Square, we made a pit stop at Black Pearl, a small, narrow bar attached to…read moreRick's On the Square. We all ordered a drink. My friend and my girlfriend both ordered their espresso martini that my friend claimed was the best espresso martini in town, while I got the bartender's recommendation of the Animal Style, a pineapple and jalapeño infused tequila with strawberries, cardamom bitters, and a lemon peel garnish. Normally, I hate any drink that is spicy. I cannot stand a Bloody Mary because I don't believe drinks should be allowed to be spicy, but this one, for having jalapeño, is not spicy at all. If anything, it's slightly savory with its tropical flavor. The bartender was great. They have appetizers and tapas as well and as my girlfriend sat down, she really wanted just one of their fresh oysters. I ordered her just one to try and it was $4.25. They gave us the smallest one they could find. The tiniest oyster of all time. I guess size really didn't matter because according to her it was very good. I would go back and have a few more cocktails, but it is a nice place to hang out on the square on a Friday night. A good time to be had by all. RIYL: The finest, most $15ish cocktail you can find.
