Went to the Outback for lamb chops was told they no longer have them after a long wait for a table. I Had asked for a table at 7:30 came in at 6:45. At 7:50 I asked if the table was ready. I was told only booths were available and that's when I found out they didn't serve lamb. Was told a booth would be an additional 25 minute wait. Outback is a usually reliable steakhouse for when I am too tired to be locally adventurous. Not this time. Service was slow and poor. It was early for dinner (4:30ish), but seemed well staffed. I am very patient with the staff at off-hours (been there, done that), but this was incompetence rather than understaffed and off-peak. 20 minutes to get the second beer (excuse was that bartender was "gone", unfortunately for the waitress, we could see that he was standing right there. Husband went to bar and picked it up himself, after 20 minutes -- who knows how long it would have taken had he waited for the server). My second glass of wine did arrive promptly, but I had to ask for a glass of water 3 times. When it finally arrived, my woodfired steak was well done rather than medium rare. I sent it back, and it returned to the table medium rare, and fried (not wood fired). Husbands Ahi was edible. I will not go back to the Onalaska/LaCrosse area Outback. read more

Had a bad experience here. Place was near my hotel so thought I'd pop in for a quick steak. I travel a lot in my job and every minute is precious as when I get to my destinations, I still have a Day's worth of work to attend to. I'm on a light keto diet so steak houses usually work good. Plus, I'm a food industry professional so I know the difference in good and bad food. It was busy and the staff seemed overwhelmed even though there were lots of open tables. I thought Labor Day? But there really are no holidays in retail and service industries. Heck I'm out here traveling for business on a holiday! I'd think a restaurant would have all hands on deck during a holiday. I'd fire the manager if this was my place. Looked like poor training and inexperience to me. They took my name and gave me a buzzer with a blinking green light. I sat outside for over an hour. Until I noticed people around me had gone in already. So I went in and asked. They obviously had seen my name come up but had skipped me. "Oh, Yeah" the greeter said. No one tripped the buzzer. I got a half assed apology and had to seat on a stool in the bar. I always order a rib-eye because this is the hardest steak for a glorified cook chef to destroy. Well, Outback figured out a way. The steak seemed poor quality and was like chewing a round steak. I order medium doneness but this steak was well done. I explained when I was seated how I was screwed over on the wait but no management came to look in on me or anything. Even the waitress could tell I was pissed so she pretty much avoided me. I was never asked how my meal was. This may be my last trip to this chain as they have really gone downhill. Tired of paying premium prices for sub par quality and crappy, poorly trained, service. First off, I will say that I usually really like my Outback experience. But after this last one, I'm hesitant to go back. I ordered the Victoria's Filet and asked for it be cooked medium rare, which to me means that it is seared on the outside with a tiny bit of brown and pink and hot on the inside. The steak that I got was seared. The inside was completely pink and cold on the inside, it was sooo rare that I couldn't even finish it. I ended up taking it home so that I could finish cooking it correctly myself. Usually something like this isn't a huge deal for me, however, I paid a lot of money for that meal. How many times are the cooks asked to prepare a steak to medium rare? It seems like it would be a no-brainer! read more

Every time I go to outback there are 1-3 things that go wrong. This past weekend was no exception. Waited 40 minutes for a table. Appetizer came with our meal and medium rare steak came barely seared practically raw. Our server apologized but took absolutely no corrective action. My wife and I both ordered the 6 oz. filet medium rare, which came out perfect. We also were going to order the sweet potato as our potato side, but my wife asked if it was mashed or like a baked potato. Our server, Josh, told us that it was served whole with skin on and cut open like a baked potato would come and it included brown sugar and honey butter. She said she would pass and get the garlic mashed instead. He asked what the reason was. She said she really didn't want the skin and preferred mashed. Our server then said he would personally remove the skin and mash the sweet potato for her if she wanted to try it. That sounded awesome, so I had him do the same for me. And when it came out it WAS awesome. This server is a definite standout!! He knows how to go above and beyond to have happy customers.....and I made sure his tip reflected that! What a great dissapointment.My husband ordered Porterhouse medium rare, sides of brocolli and mashed potatoes.He did not get the mashed potatoes , we have to wait for the waiter to come to our table to remind him he did not get his potatoes.When he cut his meat it was not a porterhouse it was a pork chop.We again called the waiter , he send us the manager who told us "it was a pork porterhouse" he just said to be sure that we did not get charged for porterhouse steak.I also mentioned to him my prime rib taste funny . he commented it was indeed dry. We normally go this outback but after last night Never again.It was an insult to let us believe the order was pork porterhouse when they dont have that on menu and them thinking we dont know the difference between pork and beef. read more

Had the avocado crab stack, coconut shrimp and the seared ahi tuna. Delicious, fantastic and perfect. Definitely come here during a lunch hour. Great specials on drinks and a quieter atmosphere. Also, on a hot summer day order any of the margaritas. The down under is pretty good as well as the captains Mai tai. Overall, great service, food and atmosphere. read more

I always want to give Outback another chance but am always disappointed. The Ahi Tuna app was very good but quickly went downhill from there. Tried the chicken Marsala because their steaks are always tough. Bad choice. It looked good on the menu but was basically gravy over boiled chicken. The ONLY reason I gave them three stars is their seating arrangement. OKAY, PEOPLE I LIKE TO EAT! The booths were uncomfortable! Oh, stop your fat shaming! I hear it now! We love the Outback. The filet, salmon, pasta and chicken quesadillas are among our favorite foods, and the servers are just awesome! They are very efficient and very friendly ... Outback is a favorite of my friends and I and we've gone there quite a bit over the years. It's rare that the steaks are not done properly and prices are fair. I only give it 3 stars because they screw up orders constantly. They have never failed to compensate us for the error but at least half my visits result in something missing or needing to be sent back. read more

Awful service. Walked in, hostess told us it would be a 5-10 minute wait and asked us to take a seat, but never took our names down before walking away. 5 minutes later a party of 7 comes in, a waiter takes their name down and tells them its a 10 minute wait. Few minutes later 2 more families come in, are told 20+ minute wait and their names are taken. It's at this point the waiter asks us how long we've been waiting, tell him 20ish minutes, then he realizes the hostess never took our name down so he says he has to put us on THE BOTTOM of the list. Walked out. Screw that place, hope it burns down. Absolute trash service. If you are that senile that you can't be bothered to take someones name down, leave. You aren't helping the place. We stopped here for dinner during a family vacation...hadn't been to Outback in about 10 years. And we wont be gong back for at least another 10 years. We ordered an pitcher of margaritas and it came filled to the brim with ice and only yelded 2.75 margaritas. I asked the waitress about it and she said the pitcher is about 3 margaritas total....totally unsat. Our blooming onion was so salty and in a pool of grease we could barely eat it. My wife and i ordered soup, she had the potatoe which was unedible due to the saltiness of it. I had the chicken tortilla, which was fine. Kids had chicken tenders which again were ok. But all in all....please choose one of the two other local restaurants next door. The hotel told us not to go to Outback but i ignored they're warning and thought a chain corperation would have better consistance in quality...avoid this Outback. read more

Brought my mom here, a cancer survivor, for her 53rd birthday! Kim, our waitress, (PHENOMENAL) helped us pick out something easy for my mom to swallow (esophageal cancer) but it was a bit more salty than her taste buds were used to. We then opted for grilled shrimp which was very tasty but still too seasoned. After the first order, Sunny, the manager came over on her own, Kim gave her heads up, and personally entered the shrimp order and brought it to our table. When THAT didn't work for our mom, Kim came back over and personally brain stormed with us for our mom. We chose unseasoned salmon. We were ready to give up after the shrimp bc it was getting crazy but they weren't ready to give up on us yet. They MADE MY MOM'S NIGHT!!! SHE LOVED THE SALMON!!! Went there twice, service is pretty bad. Ordered a steak rare, got it medium the first time. Got the second steak and it was cooked correctly but was bathed in pepper, couldn't even eat it. They had to comp our whole meal since my friend's was overseasoned as well. Not recommended. read more

Went to Outback with my husband last night. I ordered the rib eye steak sandwich & my husband ordered the prime rib sandwich. My husband was satisfied with his sandwich - me not so much. The ribeye was cut so thin - maybe a 1/4" thick - I ordered it medium rare but it was well done & tough - came with bacon that was barely warmed up & looked raw - the grilled onions were raw - served on a big bun but with very little food inside. Talked with the manager before we left - I showed him what the bacon & onions looked like. I said "I'm not telling you this because I want a free meal but please tell the cook that bacon & onions need to be cooked more & that steak needs to be cut thicker." He said they were training a new cook. Well, isn't there someone observing him when he is cooking? The drinks were good though. lol Not a good experience - won't go back there. Back to Texas Roadhouse - their food is always excellent. Thought we'd give Outback a shot - never again. read more

This is my "go-to" place when in LaCrosse for business. Service is always attentive and friendly; the beer is always cold. The food is good, though I will admit to ordering a limited selection: The chicken tortilla soup; the 10-pc ahi tuna appetizer as my entree; and one of the mini-chocolate shakes for dessert. First time at Outback Steakhouse. Really for the price we paid for 2 adults, 2 kids almost $90 before tip I think we should get a bigger better tasting steak. All they have is Sirloin?? And this is called a steakhouse?? I've had better steaks at Applebees and that's not saying much. Had the grilled shrimp appetizer... 6 medium sized shrimp on a skewer for $9.99?? Huh?? Service was disorganized, left appetizer plates on the table as the main course came out.. no room to put down the main course plates.. ummm maybe come get those before bringing out main course? Not impressed at all, If I put down a $100 spot a dinner I expect great food, great service. Not subpar food and subpar service. Very annoying trying to eat a main course with all the other empty glasses and plates on the table doesn't make for a very enjoying experience. We wont ever be back.... And when I spend that much usually end up having something to take home (leftovers) But nope... a 9 oz sirloin steak for $19!!! .... for the price no thanks!! Pass this one by unless you like donating $$. This was the worst dining experience ever, It started with attempting to get a round of drinks , waitress came back to ask what we wanted a second time instead of writing down the order for 6 people, All were served but one, claiming the bar staff was busy. Two drinks that should include fruit garnish were without. One drink looked like it had a moldy orange and one glass was chipped. Then the order was taken, 5 out of 6 did not get what Outback described on the menu or to poorly prepared food/presentation. Honey mustard dip instead of Buffalo, needed dressing to be added to salad, limp quesidilla, potato side order had to be requested since not brought to the table, unlimited shrimp promo that customer was not asked if wanted any more, Then the bathroom had two out of three urinals not working, floor spillage, To top it off, then was a fund raiser, whereby either fundraisers or staff would come to each table while eating and ask to donate/purchase a prize ticket. Real professional to sell tickets while one is out on a supposedly nice evening of chain restaurant food. This place has really gone downhill. read more

we went here with my dad and step mom our grandson and my husband and myself. we were treating them they live in west salem area. very nice place id been to the one in Honolulu hi. on wakiki beach . this was better i thought we all had a great meal and the service was fantastic. it was a great afternoon will return there again when in the area.. would recommend it to everyone. read more
